Hi,

Am moving to near Zurich in a few weeks and have yet to organise a removal company. Does anyone have a company they would recommend?

Not that helpful but do not use Pickfords. They were fine until they had our money but then rude, didnt tell us about vital documents etc. Only redeeming quality was that the actual removal men were nice.
There are some review sites on the internet, might be worth a look.

Agree with above. We moved during the foot and mouth crisis and all outdoor boots and furniture should have been disinfected (indeed they charged extra for the service) but it was clear on arrival nothing was. A few items got damaged/lost too. Be careful on your removal dates , trucks have limited time to travel overnight and at weekends/local holidays which may restrict when your consignment can be delivered. Ask if the same crew as load will fly over to deliver or if a local team/partner company will.

Sterling moved us back. Didn't wrap furniture well so heavier pieces marked those below. Guys nice if a bit moany. They were supposed to unpack at our UK house but wound me up so I decided it was easier to do it myself !

Brittania moved us to Basel the quote was very competitive and the service was fine. One caveat - be very thorough with your instructions on what is going so they get the cubic capacity correct.

When DH was in the MOD a company called Whites removals had the military contract. They were excellent and would be very experienced at family overseas moves.

Crown are very good.

I would avoid Britannia, my friend used them and they damaged quite a bit of furniture; chips, bangs, chunks missing and yet it was intact and so wouldn't claim on their insurance.

Whoever you go with, make sure they take a detailed inventory and present it to the customs prior to your arrival. Any experienced firm will know what to do.
When we moved from Zug to Belgium we had to inform the Police so they could set up cones (in our deathly quiet road) in advance.
