Hi, I am a lesbian mum, I now have 2 little girls. I live with my wife and we live in North London. I have just had our second child a month ago. Nearly all my friends with kids are not gay and would love to get to know other gay parents. Would like to hear back from you. How many kids to you have? How old are they?

Hi,

I'm a single lesbian Mum, my son will be 6 months old next week, gosh, the time seems to have flown by! All the Mums I know are straight, and lovely, but it would be great to know some gay mums in the area. I'm near Queens Park, but have a car so can travel!

Hi there, there's a lesbian/gay parenting group that meets in East London (nr Stepney Green) on the 1st Sunday of the month, it's open to families living across London and have many parents who travel in from North East/North London.
We are having a xmas party on the 5th of December and we are always welcoming new families! Please let me know if you want the details ....

Belatedly adding to the rollcall for north west London. We are two mums and one nearly-five daughter, and would love to meet other families who don't have one mum, one dad...

Hello,

My name is Charlotte and I am currently doing my Masters in Social and Cultural Anthropology at University College London. The topic of my dissertation is looking motherhood, at how it is perceived and conceptualized by lesbians. I am also interested in what the perceptions and images of the family ? their structure and organisation ? are.

Lesbian motherhood has been very rarely discussed within British academic literature and is therefore very underrepresented in the study and discussion of motherhood. I would like to change that by giving lesbian mothers the chance to voice their views, experiences, and opinions on what it means and entails to be a mother. This study will be a chance to bring about new definitions and views on motherhood.

For this project I am looking for mothers who are happy to participate in a couple of interviews ? about 1 hr in length ? and some focus groups ? also about 1 hr in length. It would also be of great value to me if I could come and simply observe during the meetings. All information and personal details will be kept confidential.

Please let me know if you are happy for me to attend the group meetings and/or if you know couples who are willing to be part of this study. If you have any questions please feel free to contact me either via email ([email protected]) or phone (07513051425) or contact my supervisor Dr. Jennifer Randall ([email protected]).

Best,
Charlotte

Hi there, we are a lesbian family living in Harrow. We have two girls ages 2 and 6. We have been to one of the gay parents groups which was really great but on the other side of London. We would like to meet up closer to home.

Hi -- My wife and I are moving to Enfield from Los Angeles in February or March and would love to meet new mom friends. We are expecting our first next month so he will be 3-4 months old when we arrive in London. I am happy to help organize a regular meetup if someone wants to take on the project.

Hi All,
I'm a lesbian mum-to-be (first baby due in July) - my partner and I are moving to Ealing in West London soon and would love to meet any other local same sex families.
We're moving across town from SE London, which had a pretty active lesbian mums network going....and typically, when we actually needed it, we decide to move west - go figure!
anyway, would love to hear from any people nearby.
Thanks

Hi there, I see this post is from a few months ago now, but we're in North London and are trying to forge friendships with other same sex couples. We have a nearly 3 year old son and want him to see other families similar to his. Sophie

Hi there, my partner and I are expecting our first baby at the end of November. Are there are ante-natal classes or support groups in north London specifically for lesbian mothers? It gets a bit discouraging to continuously read comments directed at the 'husband' on pregnancy sites.
We would love to meet other lesbian mothers in our area to exchange experiences.

Thanks x

Hi,

My partner and I are expecting our first little one in December and we live just outside West London. Neither of us particularly want to go to our NHS ante-natal classes, however I can't see any alternatives for lesbian/gay parents. Would be great to meet up with other lesbian mums, as none of our gay friends have kids, and we want to ensure that once the little one is here & asking questions, that they don't feel completely different to the other kids around them.

Any help/suggestions would be appreciated.

Hi sjidla,

We did the NCT classes and found them really useful.
It's a shame there is nothing out there for gay patents but found the NCT very inclusive and informative.
Infact the lady running the course was in a lesbian relationship when she had her first child.

Don't know if you saw that we are trying to arrange a meet up in Barnet on the 5th? Maybe come along. There will be atleast 3 couples who have children there so it might be good meet a few of us 'after baby'
Lol

Hi Piglet72,

Thanks for the response. I'm just looking into the NCT classes now, and they seem like a more favourable prospect than the NHS ones.
5th August sounds good (as long as it can stop raining for longer than an hour at a time!).

Do you know if any other mummies-to-be are coming along?

That's a shame you are busy on the 5th, but I am sure there will be more.
Wow 5 month old and one on the way, that's brave. Lol
Will message you so we can stay in touch.
