Hi - can anyone help?

My husband made a £500 charity donation... From our joint account. I take it that as he's a higher rate tax payer - and I don't pay tax - and he ticked 'gift aid' ... I need to pay tax on half the donation? sad

Even if it's from your joint account, he can "claim" all of it. But if you pay standard rate tax, and make a £250 donation, the charity gets your tax and there's nothing to do with higher rate. Your tax affair are separate from his.
