Disability element of tax credits

Hi there

We receive the high rate care component disability living allowance for DS.

We therefore get more tax credits (not much) as a result of this. This is based on last years income figures.

It looks like this years total income from DP and I is going to be about £6k higher than last year. I know our tax credits payments are reduced in line with your income.

What I can't find out is if the disabiliy element will also be reduced.

Hope this makes sense - I'm not very good at putting these things in writing!

Thanks if you can help?

The calculators aren't out yet for the 2012-13 award period. However, the HMRC site has some guides for next year based on the budget announcement. I haven't seen any direct reference to disabled children but I haven't read the whole thing thoroughly. The main changes are that the top limit for CTC is going to be £26k (more if there is more than one child or you pay for registered childcare) and the working time rules are different.

Not looking great for us reading that. I still can't seem to see if the thresholds are higher for the disability element. I suppose we will have to wait and see! Thanks.
