We got booted off tax credits last april because our houehild incone was too high. But Dh lost his job last July and he was the major earner. We now live on my much lower salary. We were told that we still get nothing for 2011/12 as we earned over the threashhold in 2010/2011 but our 2011/12 income will be about 40.4k. (and will be about half that for 12/13 unless dh starts earning) Can anyone tell me if we'll be entitled to anything from April? Dd and I are both disabled and on DLA (do we have to include DLA in income??)

You should be able to tell them about the change in circumstances ( earnings massively reduced) and they recalculate at current earnings

Absolutely. If your income has changed significantly, then your claim should have been reassessed straight away. Check out what your likely award should be by running your details through this Online Benefits Checker. You'll be asked about DLA in the course of the questionnaire

The problem was we'd been booted off them before the income drop. I was told when I asked after our first big income drop (when we moved ooop north) that even though our salary had more than halved they still would take the big income as the basis for our award (or lack thereof)

I hate all this stuff. I'm not thick but I am disorganised and scared of forms and dh does nothing to help :-(

We've just been through the same thing. Both DP and I were made redundant within 9 months of each other.

I applied as soon as our circumstances changed, and gave them an estimate of 2011/12 income. It changed again when DP was made redundant, and several times since as my income has fluctuated.

Once the tax year ends, we'll give them actual figure for the year, and an estimate for the forthcoming year - and keep updating them as things change!
