Does anyone know the laws for demolition works? We live near an industrial estate and for the last 3/4 wks there has been demolition work going on and it's driving me mad now! I didn't mind do much for the first week or so but it's dragging on now and they start at 7 through the week and today around 7:30am. It is horrible and I can't understand how it's allowed? I wouldn't go out and even mow the lawn at 7 through the week out of consideration for my neighbours but this is 100 times noisier!

There are rules about the hours of work, but they may apply to residential areas only. If you look up the planning application you should be able to find the details, the permission and any conditions attaching which may include permitted hours of work. If this info is not in the permission then you should be able to search the council website for this.

Thanks wowfudge, just looked online and it states 7:30-6pm mon to fri and 7:30-4:30 Saturday. Just seems to early to me cos it's so noisy! Even with the bedroom window shut I can hear it. I'm sure all the people that agreed to it wouldn't be happy with it next to their homes.

Well on the plus side, once the demolition is completed then if there is building work it tends to only be pile driving which creates further noise.
