Hello.
I have hypothyroidism.
In 2011-12 a brand of thyroxine by TEVA was found to be inconsistent and incorrect in strength and withdrawn.
I became pregnant in feb 2012. I'd already noticed an increase in Tsh pre preg.
I have anxiety linked to thyroid simply as Was Mis diagnosed aged 20, given seroxat (awful stuff) and found it very traumatic.
Thyroxine is really important in the first trimester in pregnancy. I'd fought to get gp to understand this already and raise dose on positive test. My levels by 12 weeks were not good despite 2 raises - this was due to the 'dodgy thyroxine.' I still have the exact packet.
I then was put on the hospital brand and went too high.
However the damage to mh was extreme. My son was lbw, but fine. I can link many issues I've had in the last 2 years to all of this as a domino effect. I try not to.
It's complicated but I ended up being put in sertaline which has nearly killed me due to severe muscle wastage and - ironically again - causung issues with thyroid medication! I've been off work 6 months trying to sort it out. In feb I was still so weak I couldn't brush my teeth. It does not say specifically on the leaflet for Sertraline that it interacts with thyroxine. Fine - I now know, I can take it on the chin. But I wouldn't have nec been put on sert as really I was put on that due to the anxiety I suffered in pregnancy - msinly linked to the thyroxine - and I guess what I now know is a type of trauma.
Anyway a lot of this is inconsequential, but I can prove there was potential damage to me and my child due to TEVA. I also don't know why I wasn't contacted by the pharmacy - pharmacy2U when it was withdrawn as I think I was issued the batch after the withdraw date. I had to tell them about it. And gp etc.
(Had to tell gp about sertaline too)
I've no issues with gp etc as all done with good intentions.
Is there any kind of way to claim damages against TEVA? I hate suing culture but I feel so physically and emotionally damaged by it. My career too as I've had so much time off work.
