Moving in with partner

Would anyone be able to help me, my partner lives in a council property with his adult son, not claiming any benefits. I'm planning to move in with him soon when the lease on my place is up, what information would the council need? Would they need my payslips/proof of old address? Would his rent go up? Thanks!!

Why would you need to tell the council (other than telling them you've moved out of your old address for council tax purposes)? If he's not claiming any benefits why would his rent go up? Hasn't he got a tenancy agreement?

Hi Collaborate, yes he has a tenancy agreement. I thought you had to let the council know when you move in. When his son moved in he had to provide payslips and they put the rent up, but maybe that was because he no longer had the single person allowance?

Isn't the answer to your question to be found somewhere in his tenancy agreement?

Thank you! I'll ask him to find it it was over 10 years ago but he must have it somewhere! Thanks for your help!

It would be very unusual for a tenancy agreement to say that the rent increases if another adult moves in.
