Hello, question on behalf of a friend.

Bought house 8 years ago and employed builder to carry out some renovations. Roof on single storey extension was sub contracted to a local roofing company. This roof has leaked in heavy rain over the past few years. The roofing company were called out to look at it and haven't been able to remedy the work. Ceiling is now mouldy and water coming inside. Sought second opinion and roof needs replacing at an estimated 6k cost. Could there be any grounds to pursue the original roofing company?
Thanks in advance.

I presume your contract was with the builder, not the roofing company. So your claim is against the builder. Your builder may then have a claim against the roofing company.

As for whether or not the building company is liable, that depends on whether or not the current problems are due to a failure to carry out the original works properly.

Thanks for your reply. It's a bit of a minefield and 8 years have passed.
