Amazon-hair extension cowboy supplier :/What would you do?

I often buy hair extensions online (they're usually cheaper for high quality) and have them woven in.

I bought some from Amazon, advertised as Virgin Remy (top end of hair market).

They arrived, seemed okay, and I had my hairdresser weave them in. Within two days, they'd gone like straw, scratty, knotty, impossible to brush-they looked so bad I had to get them removed as the hair was so matted despite my plying it with conditioner. I was really disappointed.

I spoke to Amazon who told me to email the seller and explain, and return the item which I did, supplying a receipt from my hairdresser proving the date it was woven in, how much it had cost, and her contact details if required.

I spoke to Amazon again and they assured me I would get my money back, (although obviously not the bloody hundred odd quid it costs me to get them put in!) and I also asked my postage to be refunded (it was £11). They said yes this would be done and I would get the refund onto my card.

This was over a month ago-I've contacted amazon several times and now they're saying my claim has been rejected, the seller has refused refund and I need to email the 'A-Z' team directly to appeal.

The seller emailed me saying she couldn't believe what I was saying as she's never had a complaint about her products.

She has since emailed me saying she hasn't got my returned item so she's not refunding me. I sent recorded delivery and I've somehow lost the tracking number. I'm such an idiot, but I'm also really really annoyed that Amazon are letting her get away with this-that hair was definitely not virgin remy-virgin remy hair lasts for months.

And much as I am beating myself up for losing the number, Amazon have never mentioned this-so it seems like it wouldn't make a difference anyway. I just wish I had it to give to the seller.

She is in China, though so I suppose they may genuinely have not have arrived back to her.

What should I do? I can email the A-Z team but what is the thing to say? Do I have any rights? Can I obtain the tracking number somehow (I doubt it).

Thanks

I suspect the lack of the tracking number is going to kill this as it is your only proof you sent them back. You probably cannot easily sue her in China and you bought from her not Amazon - some sales like books you buy from Amazon but things like hair Amazon just put the two of you together and you buy from the Chinese supplier using the Amazon site. However this seller might if you keep pressuring her given in to avoid adverse comment so keep pressing her for a refund.

Thanks for the reply, greengrow.

I'm not too familiar with amazon. I know feedback can be left, I haven't done this yet.

I'm going to keep on at it until I've exhausted all angles, and keep contacting Amazon about it but yes, I have no legal rights as she's in China .

It's so frustrating though!Especially as each time I revisit this matter I get more annoyed about the monies I have wasted (and time)!

How much did you pay for them? These disputes can be quite hard to resolve particularly if the other person is in China. Usually your pressure is not that you might sue but that the seller will not want negative feedback.

They were £55, postage took it up to £64.

Okay, should I leave off from providing feedback for now, or email the eller saying I'm going to leave it?
Sorry for all the questions.
