The dreaded Tax Credits........

i'm not very clued up with tax credits...

my friend and her partner split in January, she moved back to her parents with their son and claimed tax credits as a single person. anyway, her and ex are now back together and she moved back into their home last weekend. she phoned the tax credits helpline this morning to inform them of the change of details, and that she wishes to stop claiming as she knows they are not eligible as a couple.


she rung me this evening to ask if she needs to do anything else - i said probably follow it up with a letter just to make sure? also, she had a tax credit payment on 3 May, so would that be the last one she has - tbh i have no idea??

Why is she not eligible for tax credits with her partner? Is he a high earner?

yeah, with a joint income they are over the limit!

She'll likely get one more payment, and it'll likely be a different amount to what she normally gets
