Is this legal - can any of you help me?

My friend is hoping to start a business customising flip flops. I went round to her house last night and she was telling me more about it. Then she showed me flip flops that she has bought from Primark for £1 that she intends to customise. I'm pretty sure that she could get into trouble doing this. Can any one clarify the situation.
We have tried to remove any evidence that the flip flops came from Primark but no luck as yet.

Not a legal bod, but I'd assume that as long as she acknowledges her source (rather than claiming they're special and unique and custom-made) she should be OK.

Why would it be illegal ?

Seems OK to me.

Is she claiming she hand-knitted them ?
