Hi there, hoping someone wise could advise me on this, if a job role was made redundant over 12 months ago can the job title be resurrected?

Yep. Do you mean that company makes widget manager redundant and then a year later recruits a widget manager or promotes someone to widget manager?

Yes absolutely possible. Most businesses will leave three months after the redundancy situation before doing this since that is the time period in which someone can present a claim of unfair dismissal. Recruiting into a role that has been made redundant could indicate an unfair dismissal situation.

Ah thank you, basically a woman a my work was doing "widget management" the role was made redundant and she was slotted into another role and "widget management" was integrated into another role, now that role has been made redundant but someone me will now be doing "widget management" so i wanted to know if i could have that Job title as the manager has said this isn't possible as the role was made redundant

I suspect they will be reluctant to use the same job title because the widget management has been integrated into the other role. There's nothing in the law that says they can't give you the job title but similarly there is nothing that you can do to insist that you be given the job title. The title just is what it is.

As someone who generally advises employers rather than employees I can see why they wouldnt want to give you the widget manager title if the role also involves other things and is different from the original role.
