Hi, I need advice please..

I am on maternity leave from my current job, it ends next week (midweek), i have informed them i won't be going back. Good news is I've got another job starting next week, but before my smp ends, but it's different hours. So in my old job i was working 9.15a.m.-1.15p.m. but new job is 7p.m.-11.p.m.

As it's not the same hours, can i do this?
Or do i contact new employer and say that i can't start till after my contract has ended with current employer.

I feel stupid now though, i was just so happy when they phoned me to offer me the position i just said yes and agreed to working next week, without really thinking about it, too eager Blush

HELP!!!

TIA

Just read that back and it sounds so jumbled! but i hope you get the gist, if you don't just ask me to clarify which points, sorry.

I can't see any reason why there would be a problem, at all Grin

I am not a legal or HR bod though. You are allowed 2 or more jobs anyway, unless your contract states you may not be employed elsewhere at the same time, AFAIK.

Congratulations on your new job. Plus you can work for a new/different employer while on Additional Mat Leave from your main employer, IIRC.

Thank you, I'm still unsure though, might give new employers a ring and see what they say not sure where else to ask and as it's next week i haven't really got much time to find out either

Oh gawd, happy but aargh... Confused

If you start work with a new employer your SMP ends see here.

You can work with an employer you were already working for before baby was born and still be on mat leave from your main employer and receive SMP, but if you start with a new employer your mat leave with your old employer is finished, you are back at work and your SMP ends.
