Criteria for eligibility for legal aid

Hi, am hoping that someone might be able to advise me on how to work out for myself if I may be eligible for legal aid. This is following the breakdown of my marriage and the need for advice on mortgage. Since he left he has only paid maintenance for the children, no contributions towards the mortgage and I would like
to know where we stand legally if I continue to pay the mortgage on my own. Would I be entitled to more than him when we come to sell the house?

Not necessarily I'm afraid. Having care o0f the children may give you a greater percentage though.

Oh, ok. That's not what I was hoping to hear. Surely if we've paid as a joint debt for 15 yrs and i pay the remaining 10 years on my own then I'm entitled to more equity?
Do you know how I may be able to work out if I am entitled to legal aid please? Thanks

If you go on the legal aid website there is a calculator, however you have to have a very small income and no savings to qualify.

the capital and income split/orders depend on many factors, and on the basis of your posts I cannot say one way or the other. there is no substitute for legal advice if you're unsure.

If you pay off some of the capital on the mortgage after separation you should ordinarily expect that prior to division of the proceeds of sale you will get that capital back (but not the interest).
