LANDLORD PROBLEMS HELPP!!!

AMummyFromNotts · 01/05/2012 20:09

I'm currently privately renting which i top up etc although that has nothing to do with this.

Anyways the first problem was issue with moving the old existing furni out it took atleast 3 months for the landlord to make a decision and allow me to move it.
Before i signed any papers i made it very clear to the landlord i would like any exisiting furni moved which they agreed to doing within the week.
Second issue was they promised to clean out my garden which never happened.(in end i ended up doing myself)
third they promised to remove a comdemmed fireplace never has happened.
Since moving in i've also had issues with my tv aerial yet again i raised my concerned and they just would temp fix it then as soon as it rains it doesn't work leaving me days without any television it been about 6 months of me being there and i am sick and tired of chasing my landlord up for issues he promises to sort out.
The house i am renting is a period house so it pretty cold and the radiators downstairs don't seem to function properly or heat up to the correct temp whereas upstairs is boiling hot .

Anyways i've got a professional out about the aerial and he qouted me and told me that the exisiting aerial has no signal as my landlord was claiming it my television. Anyways landlord was proved wrong and i passed on the details to him he still is denying there anything wrong with the aerial

Fact is i was unaware of the aerial not working and if i had of known i probably would of thought twice about signing away the same with all the other issues i've had i always pay my rent on time so that isn't my landlord problem. It feels like they tricked me and all they seems to care about is making sure i keep my part of the deal paying the rent however not interested in keeping there side of the deal.
I haven't been able to live in the property full time so i do not see why i should continue even paying rent. I have a young daughter and i don't think i can no longer deal with periods of long waits for minor things to be fix it just makes me wonder if somethign big was to go it would take months before anything done don't need the stress or hassle anymore.
I really want to get out of the property but have no clues on how to approach this ?
I still need a place for my furni to be stored whilst on the search.
Can anyone out there give me any help or advice on what i should do?

Do you have an Assured Shorthold Tenancy Agreement? It should state what the Landlord is responsible for. Do you rent directly from the Landlord or via an agency? The aerial issue might be as a result of digital switchover, i.e. he might need a new aerial because of this : help.digitaluk.co.uk/display/4/kb/article.aspx?aid=5997
In cases where the landlord/agent is being difficult put everything in writing and keep copies. It might be worth contacting the housing officer at your council and asking their advice as you are essentially paying for a house that is not up to scratch. Another site that might be worth looking at is Shelter www.shelter.org.uk/ as they have lots of good advice about renting.
