Long story short...DH found out las year that he had Fathered a child 12 years ago...the Mother pased the baby off as her then fiancee's and then contacted my DH when she split with the "father"...she told her prtner the child was nothis and then told DH about it...DH had had no contact with the woman for all that time...it was a fling.

Anyway/...he has been in touch and met his DD and the Mum wants a statuatory declaration so she can sort out her child care payments..she is in Oz and we are in the UK....she has informed the social sevices over there of DH's name needing to be on Birth Certificate...we apparently need to get a Stat Dec...where do we get one? They seem to be available in WH SMith but what do we do for witness? Are the forms in WH Smith ok for this kind of thing? Or are they only for name changes etc?

PLEASE get a DNA test before progressing with any of this. This women is obviously capable of deception so you should be wary.

We did already MotherPanda and even without it you'd know his DD was his! She is like him.

You can download the form for free from the DirectGov website. Just google statutory declaration of parentage and the directgov one comes up about 4 or 5 down on the page as a pdf.

Stat decs normally have to be witnessed by a solicitor or other professional, for which you'll be charged about a fiver.
