enhanced CRB check

DH is about to apply for his dream job which is at a school but recently have been fined for posession of cannabis- long story cut short it was very unfortunate that's why they did not give him a caution or anything, just a fine. They say that they will have to put it in his enhanced crb check. When they have fined him they haven't said anything about this as they had no idea about it. now they say that they have to put it on which has put a damper on his outlook as this will haunt him although he is a fantastic teacher where any school and children will benefit from. Any word of advice - can wen somehow not get it on his CRB through use of a lawyer etc..?? Any idea of how a school might view his CRB check??

The school/council should have a recruitment of ex-offenders policy which will outline how they should approach any disclosures. They will have a list of 'non negotiable' offences which will immediately preclude individuals from being offered employment - ie violent crime or class A drug use.
Here is an example policy. Google for the school/council that he is applying to. The school will risk assess the offence against the post that he is applying for.

He must disclose his offence when he applies as if he fails to disclose and then an offence is recorded on his CRB he will automatically be dropped from the recruitment process.

Of course you can't somehow get offences written off a crb check - that would be fraud.

I meant appeal against having it on his CRB with help of lawyer. Not somehow just get it written off. Obviously. He has not been convicted or given caution. He has been FINED and that's it. Cannabis is not a class A drug either.

No there is no appeal process - there is legislation that defines what must be disclosed - the best you can hope for is that the school see what an outstanding candidate he is and decide to consider him a low risk. However as it is recent mark on his record it would put him below at a disadvantage against another outstanding candidate without disclosures.

The enhanced crb check does include fines etc. This enables those who employ people who work with children and vulnerable adults to build up a bigger picture of those who they may employ. Sorry.

Depends how long a go it was

they will do a risk assessment
