Is it legal to have bank a/c in married name and building soc. in maiden name?

Hopefully this is just a simple yes answer.
Otherwise what do I do?

I'm pretty sure it is fine.

I think it's legal; You can call yourself whatever you like and as long as you disclose "other names" on official forms etc, it is searchable.

Otherwise why not just change your name on your building soc account? All you need to do is take your marriage certificate into the branch and they will so it there and then for you.

Well I am now divorced, so don't really want to go and show my marriage cert. then decree absolute etc. But didn't want to be breaking any laws.
I will leave it as it is if it's legal.
Phew.

I have exactly the same and they said no problem. Married name with bank and maiden name on mortgage.

Yes - I have the accounts in both my maiden and married names.
