What car for a family of 6?

we don't drive it but our friends have a hooooge kia. absolutely luxurious
this thing no idea whether it costs a mint to run but they are a pretty normal bunch and wouldn't fork out a fortune

Toyota Corolla Verso gets really good write ups - we are about to buy used 5 seater version but they also do 7 seater. V reliable and great to drive. Don't feel too huge.

We have just gone from a ZAFIRA to a Renault grand espace it has made a huge difference as we had simply grown too big for the Zafira. I am loving the espace great to drive room for everyone, good boot size plus any of the back seats can be removed highly recommend

we havea zafira which will be fine for a while although have wondered about a galaxy as few mums with 4 or more at school have them

We have teh fiat Multipla and absolutley love it.

It still has a very big boot and six seats - 'tis fab!

I have a Galaxy - neede something that big to fit 3 under 5 in (tis the car seats that take all the room, not the children). I chose the new shape Galaxy as the two seats in the back row fold flat into the floor, rather than tumble forward like a lot of others e.g. the Kia Sedona. That said, if this is not important to you, I have heard very good things about the Kia, especially for the cost.
Galaxy is grand, averages about 38mpg (and I'm not the most fuel-efficient driver) and fits in absolutely everything we need. I still miss my lovely Saab estate though.... [petrol-head emoticon]

Have gone froma Seat Alhambra petrol manual to a Citroen C8 Diesel Automatic with sliding side doors. [smug emoticon as they are automatic and looks soooooooo posh]

Like the idea of the fold into the floor rear two seats however from a safety point of view I would rather have my DC's in something more substantial and comfortable for longer journeys.

Good point VS, I only use my two backrow seats when we have gps etc in the car. I'm assured they're quite comfortable, adn there's ceratinly more generous leg room than in a Zafira for example. But we generally stick DH and FIL back there - keeps them out of my hair

Have a Citroen C8 as well. Had it for 4 years now. It's a diesel model, 2.2l and quite good on fuel. It does what it says on the tin. My brother's a mechanic and likes it. Sliding doors are great when someone parks close to you in a car park and they can be operated remotely too. We got quite a substantial cashback when we bought ours as well.

Thanks very much! We have a picasso at the mo and i really like it, but there just isn't that extra seat! I only brought it last year and it didn't cross my mind that we might want baby 4!
The multipa, can you sit an adult in the front middle seat? Are they ok to park as they do look wider than an average people carrier...

Forgot to mention we saw a Kia people carrier when we were not ready to change our Seat and that also had sliding doors........ AND DVD players that came down from the roof !!!

As far as I know though the seats are normal seats and not into the floor seats.

We have a multipla - it is fabulous, the middle seat in the front and back is very slightly smaller but fits car seats and adult size bottoms comfortably. Having the two rows of 3 seats means that there is no-one lurking in the background, and there is still big boot space for the buggy, shopping etc. Loads of leg room for each seat too. Parking is ok, I don't think it is wider than a people carrier if at all, it just looks fat!

We have a Multipla too - we love it because of the Multipla wave that other drivers of Multiplas do if they see you - we are upset if they don't wave!

Honda FRV - same principle as the multipla, so 2 rows of 3 seats.

We fit me, dh, 2 teenagers (19 and 17) and then dd1 (4) and dd2 (21 months, still in rear-facing seat). Plus double buggy and dog in the boot (and the dog is not a small one!)

The Honda is the sophisticated Multipla I think - for those people who don't want to drive a large frog (our multipla is green!)

I have a volvo xc90. Its a 7 seater which still leaves a bit of room in the back for a buggy/shopping or you can fold the back row down if you don't need all the seats for some journeys which gives a lot more boot space. Also, its apparently one of the safest cars on the road. Expensive I know, but what price do you put on your kids?
