just wondering if this is just my family being dreadfully poorly, or if it happens to other large families.

I am currently in te middle of such domino effect

Yes. They go down like nine pins. But their speciality is to wait until the previous one is nearly better and then to catch it.

It maximises the amount of time it takes for everyone to get over it. When they got chickenpox we didn't go out for weeks.

Sickness is the worst though. I have endless sympathy for you Psycho. It makes so much washing too. Really hope they get better soon. It's exhausting

2 weeks ago dd2 ds1 and ds2 were all off with a bug(headache, fever, listless), then last week ds2 still has it for a day or so and dd2 comes down with slapped cheek (ds off school for a day dd2 off all week)

today dd2 goes back to school and i get a call to say ds2 has been sick at school and please come get him

now i dont feel great and i cant allow myself to be ill as there is noone else to get them to/from school, buy food etc

it feels non stop illness here atm

am off to bed in a bit

do you also find that the germ that starts it off kind of mutates on its way round them all.....and then hits the first one all over again!!!

yes, we're in the middle of one right now

dd2 started it - snotters, coughing and lethergy
dd1 was yesterday, lethergy and vomit

and poor wee dd3 now has a chest infection and has been put on a course of anitbiotics at only 10wks old

I shall of course get it tomorrow when dh back at work and dh will get it on Fri when we're meant to be away for the weekend

positive thinking here

Yes the domino effect hapens here regulary. Not with coughs and colds so much as they rarely get them but we are more prone to stomach bugs.

the last time it happened there were 8/10 of us being ill....dp and ds2 had escaped, we tried keeping all well children up the stairs and having just ill people contained in the lounge but it didn't work! hour by hour the next would start.

luckily there hasn't been a time where me and dp have been ill together so at least there is one adult able to empty the sick bowls!

omg this is so like my house and definitely agree with the mutating bug Three weeks ago ddage5 had flu like symptoms followed by ds 2 who was sent home from school having been sick. My granddaughter aged 1 who I mind folloed closely behind followed by myself who is still coughing and snotty nosed. My eldest daughter came home from uni last weekend for my birthday to go back 2 days later feeling awful having caught the dreaded bug. My dd with baby aged 1 has since also had tonsilitis and a chest infection and then just when I thought we were all on the mend dd age 5 spent all last night being sick again and ds 2 got sent home from school vomiting again today What the f**K is going on and when will I sleep going to dettol everywhere tomorrow including the kids.
