Is everyone very slack when it comes to organising stuff for birth no. 4+ ?

DC4 is due in 3 weeks. I have only just sorted his clothes out (and I can't find a lot of our newborn sizes but nevermind eh?!).

The cot is still in an attic room, in pieces. And needs a new mattress.

The steriliser is in the cellar. Or possibly a kitchen cupboard.

With DC1 I probably had my hospital bag packed before the first trimester was over.

Can I claim to be relaxed with a wealth of experience and not just a lazy slut?

I was slack with dc3 (don't think we'll get to 4!) - I kind of figured that I had the essentials (my boobs, a couple of sleepsuits and some nappies) and if I couldn't find the rest the 24 hour Tesco Extra down the road would provide!

dc4 had no furniture. He had a wire across the room with hangers on for a wardrobe! Had sold most of the other stuff as I was stopping at 3! Luckily lots of people bought him clothes or he would have been naked too!

I can't remember if I was slack laid-back about DC3. I think we had the cot ready.

DC4s bedroom-to-be still has a double bed in it. But as he won't be going in there for a few months there's really no rush to move the furniture round. Besides, the double bed is now covered in an assortment of baby clothes and will be until I get him a chest of drawers.

yes! I was very slack with ds4! but then I was slack with ds1!
The thing is you know they actually need very little. My ds 4 had me,my boobs and a supply of nappies! and all the rest is a bonus!
Good luck........ I really enjoyed my forth, proberly for that very reason......... I just did'nt think of anything else apart from being with him.

My doc asked about my bag & I said it wouldn't take long as need so little for a newborn - big contrast to my first when I had a list & was organized way in advance.

I'm planning another homebirth but have just thrown a hospital bag together in case of emergency. It is rather small!

yes, I was very slack with 4 (home birth) and 5 hospital, and only packed a bag after i had a strech and sweep, which contained a sleepsuit, vest, nappies, a wash bag and chocolate!

My DH took the cot out of our loft and built it for DC4 as I contracted!!

You definately get more laid back!

I don't think it's being slack it's just having the experience to know that you don't actually NEED to do half of the stuff that you are told to.

it's called experience

Yes kittywise that was it, nothing to do with being too run ragged to care about much else.

Guess it depends on the age gap. I have 3 kids and am trying to conceive #4, it's been 8 years since I've been pregnant so I'm sure the bag will be packed, crib made up with blankets and pram set up by week 28!
