Just that really! we have DS1 (4) and G/B DTs (21m) and after firmly saying no more, DH has now said that we can have another one! The plan is to wait until DTs are pre-school so that will be TTC Jan/Feb next year!! so so excited!!

Just have to hope that it is only DC4 and that we don't get another 2 for 1 deal like last time!

our families may disown us though...everyone has been very vocal about how 'you must be done now!' etc....

so tell me how great having 4 is please!!

Very exciting for you. Even if you do have twins again at least you already have everything you need.

MultipleMama · 14/02/2014 16:05

Don't jinx the 2 for 1! It happened to us and I still blame DH foe joking about it during the 1st few weeks Wink. It's true you have everything you need but sometimes like car seats you need 2 instead of 1!

Good luck with TTC!!! Hope you have success! We're trying for #7 later this year :)

oh gosh Mutiplemama really?? what age gap have you got between your twins?

eeek.....I love my twins but gosh the newborn days were hard!

MultipleMama · 15/02/2014 10:11

There's 13 months between them - due to the fact that my last two were 9w prem x

It took DH weeks to get over the shock and kept staring at me with this look of terror, he always kept whispering "twins" to himself in disbelief. The poor man ;)

I think there is a lady on here who had twins and the triplets - for the life of me I can't remember!

There's a few of us on here with sets of multiples, the lovely harrygracejessica is one of them :) So we are around if the BOGOF happpens to you again! :)

DH kept joking about Triplets too - am I sooo glad that didn't happen!

Seriously though, good luck TTC and hope you have lots of success!

There's a few of us on here with sets of multiples, ok, do NOT tell DH this! I've only talked him rounds as I've convinced him its not that likely it will be twins again!! (anyone know what the chance is?! (my DTs were conceived naturally with no family history, they are fraternal)

OP posts:

MultipleMama · 15/02/2014 12:28

If you have had fraternal twins already, your chance of having another set quadruples. This is because most women who conceive fraternals (without fertility drugs) show a pattern of releasing more than one egg per cycle. Your chance of a second set after the other, is about 1 in 3000.

The odds of having one set of identicals and one set of fraternals is 1 in 10,000. - Me! [grins]

If a woman has one set of identicals, her chance of having another is 1 in 70,000 or less.

The odds of having 3 sets of twins, of any kind, is 1 in 500,000.

Show don't show him this, either! Haha.

QueenofKelsingra · 15/02/2014 12:35

only 1:3000? that is fairly good odds of not having them really!! I was expecting a much scarier possibility!

bet you wish you'd put a bet on having another set of twins! you'd be a rich lady!! must be very exciting in your house!!

I wish I didn't or I would have lost! I was positive that it was a singleton as my first set were MCMA so just one egg not two. I made the sonographer check like 4 times, and she confirmed fraternal twins!

Our house is chaotic at the best of times but I love the big family feel! :)

QueenofKelsingra · 15/02/2014 12:58

haha, as and when we get a BFP I will be certainly making the sonographer have an extra thorough check! yes I guess having identicals first would have made you fairly sure of a singleton next!! I bet it is a wonderful chaos!

Congrats re making the decision & good luck TTC! I'm so jealous as I'd love 4 but both DH & I agree that we should be done with 3 (but in my heart would still love 4!)

QueenofKelsingra · 15/02/2014 13:02

onedev we were supposed to be done at 3 as well! I have promised DH that if I still don't feel done after 4 I will not pester for more and deal with my broodiness (possibly by getting puppies!)

We said we'd be happy at 4.. now we're thinking of #7. Dreams and opinions change all the time especially with children and I think it's wonderful :)

Please, come and convince my Dh as well!I told him if he doesn't agree to n 4 he has another 10 years of nagging in front of him lol

"our families may disown us though...everyone has been very vocal about how 'you must be done now!' etc...."

In a way I can see where they are coming from, because when you visit them that means an extra 6 people in their houses. I have a couple of friends with four children and they often don't get invited to other houses because the inviter simply cannot cope with the logistics of 6 more people in their house.

There have many many threads on here on the subject.

I don't have a problem because I will happily invite my fertile friends round for a social occasion. If it means paper plates and sitting on the floor so be it, but not everyone is like me.

mama I wont tell DH that if you don't mind, he will backtrack asap if he thinks i'll ask for more!

mysister it has taken me a year, starting with 'please just think about it'. after about 6 months the 'no' turned into 'when were you thinking?' and then out of the blue when I asked 'hows your thinking at the moment' he turns and says 'yes'!!

bunbaker I understand that however ever since we had the DTs I have very vocally said that we are more than happy for people to come here as we have the space/set up to cope.

my closest friends still invite me happily though (and are very keen for me to keep procreating!!)

Haha. I wish my DH was a bit less praticial in baby making! He's says if we can afford them, let's have them...

I tell him I'm ready for another and he sits dow with and works out the finances that's what you get marrying someone in the financial sector! and if we can afford, he turns into an excited puppy and becomes hands off. It's like complete 180!

bunbaker - I would rather have people visit me in my swamp! It's more hassle for me getting 6 DC ready than it is for them to pop round dinner at least then the kids have the playroom. But I do understand how others may feel petrified of entertaining 6+ more people!

Queen - that's fair enough! I think DH would change his mind if we weren't in mutral agreement and he wanted to stop and I wanted more. I think it's great your DH is open to #4 :)

Yup as multiplemama said im another that had the twins after twins so I have 5 :-) eldest is 6, girls are 5 and boys are almost 3.

wow harry it is taking all my will power not to trot out the usual clichés (hands full etc). You must be very busy! I have noted your names and will be calling (crying, begging) for advice if its twins again!! how does your eldest feel being the only non-twin? part of our reasoning for a 4th is so it isn't 'DS1 and the DTs' which will obviously be made even more of an issue if its another set!!
