dcs are 18,9,7 and 5 and if we have sandwiches at lunch i can say goodbye to up to 2 whole loaves at the moment if i include the bread used as toast <little ones are all having a growth spurt at once>!
i desperately need some other ideas that will fill them up.bear in mind we are quite an active family<walk everywhere>so needs to be filling and big!
Soup is filling and inexpensive. Lots of vegetables and stock in the blender makes a filling thick soup. You could add some meat (Leftover roast chicken, lamb or beef. You don't have to go and buy some specially) and some rice if you like to bulk it up.
My DCs like pitta pizzas and salad. Spread a little tomato puree over a wholemeal pitta, sprinkle a little cheese on too then add whatever topping you fancy - tuna and sweetcorn or shredded ham and pop under the grill or in the oven if you like a crispy pitta base. Serve with salad leaves for a cheap and cheerful quick lunch.
rice with onions in a curry sauce lentils and rice, especially if made with brown rice pasta salad pea and ham soup with soda bread pasta with cheese and leeks cheese and potato pie spicy potatoes in wraps spanish omelette savoury bread and butter pudding scrambled tofu with rice or noodles
These are all things that we have regularly for lunch in here.
