How many children do you have?

Wondering what the average large family consider large, I'm guessing most will have 4 dc.

I will be surprised if many have more than 6 - don't know why!

I have 4dc but really don't feel like I have a large family. I guess as it is a gradual thing and not suddenly just 4 extra children in the house it, has crept up on me.
I do think that another dc would tip me over the edge though, no more babies for me!

3 at the moment, discussing a 4th. 4 is the most we will have, unless we have twins!

I have four, four doesn't feel large 5 or 6 + feels large. I suppose everything's comparative, if you had 2 4 would seem large.

I feel like 5 is quite a large number to have, as most of my friends only have 1 or 2. I don't meet many people in RL with more than about 3, although I know there are quite alot of people on MN with 4 or more... Most people I meet think I am completely crazy to have 5!

5 is definately it for us, our youngest is only 3 weeks old and the last pregnancy has been a real struggle. DH had the snip about 2 weeks after we found out we were pregnant with DC5!

I have four children (as the name suggests ) which feels like a regular sized family to me. When people have six or more, I think of that as being a big family.

am so jealous, i have 3, my youngest is 3, i am in mourning for my baby years already, but feel too tired and afraid of 4th section to go again, enjoy your lovely babies :)

I have 4 and am expecting no 5 in 3 weeks. I think I do have a large family as I don't really know anyone else with more than 3.

Hairy: sometimes I need telling that. The last two were twins so it feels like the decision to have four rather than three was forced upon us, but we are lucky to have them and I do need reminding of that sometimes.

I have 4 dd's which feels large at times, namely booking holidays, not all getting in on a family ticket on days out, being limited to 6+ seater cars. However each of dp's 3 siblings have 4 dc's too and 4 seems to be a very popular amount to have locally.

3b, dont be hard on yourself, that is true whether you have one child or ten, it is always hard at times!!!

I have 4. They are 5,4,2& nearly 1. Most people I know think we are nuts!

Dh had the snip after number 4 was born.

One of dd1s classmates is from a family of 5 but much much bigger age range.
Don't know anyone else of my generation that I'm friends with who have 4 or more.

Mil is one of 12!

I am pregnant with number 5. More than 6 seems a large family to me. Probably because a lot of my extended family have 6 children, but noone has more than 6. It's just a case of what is 'normal' for you. Like someone else on here said, because they didn't all come at once, it never seemed that many. Would love to keep going, but think 5 will have to be it (at least for the time being) due to financial restraints.

My mum is 1 of 13. Didn't think that much of this as a child but would love my nan to be alive now so I could chat to her about her experiences. We used to say she was a witch because she could tell people were pregnant, sometimes, before they even knew themselves. She congratulated me on my first pregnancy 1 week before it showed up as positive on a test.

She had a knack of making us all feel invinsible and that we could cope with anything. Maybe thats why so many of us had more than the average number of children.

i have five as my name suggests. part of me would like one more but i think we are done. i am only 33 tho so have a few more years yet!

I have 5boys and dh would love a couple of girls. It's very strange being the only girl in the house but I live the attention at the same time. I get so fed up with the trying for a girl! Comments but I love having my boys. I'm 34 so could have a couple more but they have said it involves a lot more monitoring for my fifth pregnancy ( I have a history of twins).

I have a blended family of mine and dh's children and our own, so in total 10, but of those 6 live with us, 2 come and go and 2 are grown up! So 6-8 mostly! I've so far completed the girls Christmas stockings, still the boys to do!

5madthings, I'm similar age to you! I also can't rule out another! my head says no, my body says no, but does that yearning ever go away? Dh has ageed if i want to go ahead i can.

I'm hoping grandchildren follow on soon after children and a seamless gap!! Although they are messy and hugely hard work when they aren't here I feel a bit lost.

I also work full time running my own business so I wouldn't say my children are my whole life. having them has only ever spurred me on to do things not hold me back.

I have 3dc and 14 weeks pregnant with dc4.
I always said 2 or 4 dc so when we had dc3 I either had to have 1 more or return one

I have 5,all at high school now as youngest ( twins are 11 ) when no 4 and 5 were born my eldest was 5 and a half so 5 kids under 6 including 3 in nappies.it was hectic and tiring but good memories,

Love the idea of twins, one pregnancy and one labour, but two children. Sadly one of my twins (3rd pregnancy) died during pregnancy (a long time ago now) and all the rest were singletons. Would have dearly loved this one to be twins and make a nice even 6, but it wasn't to be.

Maybe I should be careful what I wish for, if I ever have any more!
