Does anyone know of a 'proper' 5-seater car (ie: one that will seat 3 adults or 2 adults and 1 booster seat very comfortably in the back) that ISN'T an MPV or 4x4.
Probably looking at estate.
DH really wants BMW or Audi but both have transmision boxes on floor in back which mean middle person has nowhere to put feet.
If there really isn't one we might have to look at MPVs etc but want to find car first if poss!
Also posted in Dadsnet...sorry if gender stereotype....!

We have got Citroen Picasso (the old shape) and you can easily fit 2 stage 1 car seats and an adult in the back.
Also there is enough room for me to actually get in the back to strap children in if needed.

We did it in a VW Passat Estate. I am pretty sure most Audi Estates are big enough, too.

Would he consider a Ford SMax?
We had an audi estate and couldn't get one baby plus two toddler seats into it, so not sure about that one. Aren't the French cars meant to be better for three in the back? Or am I just making things up
?!
We have a mulitpla which is a 6 seater. Lots of space! We went on holiday for 7 days with 4 kids and 2 adults and one of the DCs was a 5 month old baby so had travel cot buggy and steriliser etc lots of room!
Just to add. I am a childminder and have three 0-4yr car seats along the back!

Ford C-Max - we get a baby seat and two of the big booster seats with arms or three adults in the back. Not as long as the S-Max or other estates but it's wider than the normal Focus and has an enormous boot for carting stuff around. We've found it very practical if not very attractive or exciting as cars go.

We have a Volvo V70 55 reg. (it's actually a AWD version but you don't want that)
The thing I love about my Volvo, and I wish I'd had it when the DC's were younger, is that is has built in booster seats that convert in about 2 seconds. So you don't have to ever carry a booster seat separately.
However only my youngest needs this feature now and only because he is on the short side. I think the middle seat is slightly narrower so may not be suitable for you, I just thought I come on and sing the praises of the built in booster seats (did I mention them already?)

Thank you for all the food for thought. Some of the suggestions are MPV-type thingys! but thinking we might have to go down that route, or crossover.
We have a VW Sharan and are really happy with it. All 7 seats good for adults so great for as the kids get older.
we used to havea vw sharan which we really liked, we now have a citreon c8, all 5 kids fit in it fine and there is still boot space and all the seats are indidvidual and can be taken in and out to reconfigure as you like, we are happy with it, plus it has sliding doors which are fab

Mazda6 - we have the sport version and it's fantastic. The space is unbelievable - alot bigger than our 7 seater Zafira!
