I'm the PTA rep. and a new Polish boy has joined us - he's very little (4) and crying a lot. I'm doing a contact list for all the parents and the staff suggested I didn't bother sending his parents anything as they don't speak English.
So I've used google translator instead.
does the following make any sense?

Powitanie!

Thanks in advance - he's a confused enough little boy as it is - don't want to make it worse!

hi- don't speak Polish I'm afraid, and-
I'm at home so can't give you a proper link, but there is a company who specialises in bilingual books etc. they have 'magic pen' that can be passed over text and 'speaks' in the target language. they also do standard letters home, school vocabulary, useful phrases, which I think can all be modified to suit the occassion. All very useful and worth incvesting in, esp if your school has several families for whome English is not 1st language.
Are the staff sure parents don't speak English? I don't think I've ever come across Polish adults in this countrty who didn't speak excellent English.
you can pick up some basic phrases in Polish on the BBC ws.

Sorry - no Polish, only russian and French.

Is there no-one else in the Polish community locally (or in the nearest big city) who can help you?

You might find the Catholic Church an invaluable network in this respect - church (or equivalent) can often be at the centre of a community for even unreligious immigrants.

Hi!I am Polish and sorry for now it doesn't make much sense at all...did you get it translated by yaga already or sorted it out somehow? If not,let me know.To be honest, though i would send it to parents in english as i don't believe they can not speak or read english at all.And if they really don't they must know someone who can read it for them. How can anyone suggest that you ignore them???It's for the boy's good!!!
