can anyone explain in plain english what 'without prejudice' means?

in the letter from the LA it says this:

'The LA is seeking , without prejudice to your appeal to SENDIST, the advice of NHS colleagues as a second opinion on the reports you have served'

so what does that mean - if they get a report which disagrees with our indie they wont use it ?? im guessing not is the answer. im just confused what they are trying to say to me.....

It depends on the context. As used in the quote they are saying they are getting second opinions (presumably because they disagree with your independent reports) and this is not going to affect or has no relevant to your appeal.

I suppose if the second opinion supports your own reports they might well then back down.
