Hi, im on my second month of 50g clomid hoping it works this time, i have been trying to become pregnant for 2 years now i already have a 3 year old daughter and they are not sure why im struggling to become pregnant again. I would love to hear some good news about clomid i dont think i can take anymore negative tests The hospital have only given me 3 months of 50g and said if it does not work they wont give me anymore! so i dont no what they do next. i havent really had many side effects from it just headaches. If anyone can let me know there experience that would be great thanks

Is 50g 2 tablets?

I conceived both DS1 and DS2 on round 3 of clomid when I was taking 2 tablets (sorry was a while ago so can't remember dose).

Hey,congrats it nice to see it works i have read about people been on clomid for years with no result!. The hospital have given me tablets for 5 days on days 2-6 1 tablet per day each tablet is 50g.

I conceived DS1 using clomid, first round, 50mg. I had no side effects whatsoever. I imagine I will have to use it again for DS2 because I have PCOS. I didn't even notice I was on it and had a perfect response to it according to my specialist.

i am due on my period friday and i have been getting some pain today i have sore nipples though, but it dosent look good Then i will start my 3rd and final round of clomid 50mg i really hope it works or i dont know what else they will do for me!

I had clomid for six months and did not get pregnant. HOWEVER, my gynae said to keep trying in the couple of months after the course finishes because it can "kick start" your ovaries into doing what they are supposed to (for a while). It worked for me. DD is now 6!

Oh, I'm so sorry to hear. It's really bloody awful, isn't it? I will never, ever forget that feeling of complete and utter devastation, month after month after month.

Are you being scanned at the hospital on certain cycle days and is blood being taken so they can adjust the chlomid dosage to make sure they have got it at optimum level? I seem to remember that I had to give blood on days 7-ish and 21-ish and there was a scan on around day 10 each month to check that ovulation would occur.

hey, no the have not done any of that for me they have only took blood on the 21st day on the first month i took the clomid and thats it! i have got an appointment to go back on the 1st of may to discuss what to do next.

I got pregnant on my first cycle of 50mg of Clomid. Still early days of the pregnancy but I am happy!

I have just looked back at my case notes and as well as the chlomid I had two HCG injections at around days 10 to 12 to support ovulation and then progesterone tablets for about 10 days after ovulation to help keep the womb lining thick. I live in Germany though, so maybe they do things differently over here.

Do you know what the actual problem is that they are trying to solve or is their giving you the chlomid just a "stab in the dark" so to speak?

i have a polocystic overies but they are not too bad and my right fallopion tube is blocked, my periods have always been regular and im sure i have ovulated most months! i concieved my first child naturally but it did take me 3 years!

Well, I'd try and take great heart in having conceived your DD1 naturally; at least it shows that your body can do it once it puts its mind to it!

In the meantime, though, you do have all my sympathy. It's hard enough trying for no. 1, but the wait the second time around is just as soul-destroying yet people generally seem to show so much less understanding and compassion (quote: "you've already got one! stop moaning! be grateful!").

yes thats very true, my daughter is 4 in august i really didnt want a big age gap between my children but now its looking like 5 years gap or more plus i wanted 4 childrens so god knows how long thats going to take me lol,

I conceived dd on maximum dose of clomid, think it was 150mg or 200mg , not sure as it was 20yrs ago!
I do know the desperate feeling ..it's awful.

I was unsuccessful conceiving a 2nd child for yrs and eventually gave up as they wanted to use pergonol injections and the risk of multiple births was too high for me. We eventually conceived naturally when dd was 10yrs old and now have ds who is nearly 9yr.

I also have PCOS and think conceiving ds was helped by a low carb diet and weight loss. But also pcos tends to improve (fertility wise) when you reach your 40's. I had ds at age 40 and now have a period every month ...fed up of them now, I am 50 next month so not sure how long for.

There is the option of metformin to help with the pcos as I am sure you are aware.

I conceived my DD (now 13) on my second month of clomid - IIRC 50mg (50g would be a bit hard to swallow! ).

Ovulation predictor kits had just come in, I found them useful as I had a long cycle.

Don't give up hope! My partner and I have been trying for 18 months (I found out I had PCOS) and I have just finished a 6 month course of 50mg Clomid, I was so sure it hadn't/wasn't working and I was told I would have to go up to 100mg this month and then...BFP!!

Its still early days (5 weeks today!) and I am terrified of a MC but doing everything I can. This is our 1st so we are trying not to get too excited until I am a bit further on...

Rachie12- don't give up as even if 50mg doesn't work for you they can up your dose or add other drugs like Metformin if insulin resistance is also a problem for you. If you are on Clomid for PCOS you may well have some degree of insulin resistance due to PCOS which will inhibit conception and puts us at high risk of miscarriage.

Not that my Gynecologist told me this... All she said was if clomid doesn't work after 3 cycles she would put me on Metformin.

I'm on my 3rd cycle of Clomid at 50mg. I got pregnant but miscarried on cycle 2 and strongly believe I had a chemical pregnancy on cycle 1 too.... I reckon from my own reading and symptoms I have insulin resistance due to my PCOS which is why the clomid is getting me pregnant but I'm miscarrying early on. Trying to control my self diagnosed insulin resistance with diet as can't see consultant until end of month. ... Gp won't prescribe Metformin even though I fear that without it may miscarry again. Hopefully the diet will work.

I've heard alot of people say that the first cycle on clomid is a warm up anyway... getting the system primed and that the 2nd or 3rd try produce the results! So fingers crossed for you!

Hi, i really have given up now i cant see what they can do next!. I have pcos scar tissue everywhere, completely blocked right tube, clomid didnt work i didnt ovulate and now my husbands sperm test came back as 0% active its really never going to happen

Did anyone have the clomid side-effects after the ovulation ? like cramping, nausea and tiredness ? or are these early pregnancy symptoms ..just confused

is there anyone who is having same problem, just done 3rd month and got af again so annoying. ive been on 50mg and had 21 day test which come in at 1st 31nmol/l 2nd 38nmol/l 3rd 34nmol/l. only 1 tube that works and had the test to check its clear in feb. so no probs there. im really hoping to get a result but not looking good :-(. my gyno has just just given me another 6 months supply and just said hope it works. its my gp wh does the 21 day test.

Hi, I have just had a quick read of some previous threads and am feeling a bit more encouraged by what I have read! I have PCO- ie. PCOS without being overweight/hairy/spotty, literally just cysts on my ovaries which I have always known about since only having 2 natural periods as a teenager. I was on the pill for 12 years and came off it 18 months ago and began ttc with my hubby. Went to GP after a few months as had had no periods or any sign of ovulation. After various tests (incl HSG etc and hb's sperm count(normal) and various internal scans) I was finally prescribed Clomid 50mg a few months ago in May. I had to take Provera first and then began the Clomid. Internal scans showed only 2 eggs had grown to 9mm each. So no joy. Currently on 2nd lot of Clomid so am hoping this time it works but is supposed to be cumulative so that is good. Anyone got any advice for staying positive when you want it so much and it seems to be taking forever?! Thanks x

Hi moody pebble.. My dh and I tried for over 3 years before we succeeded on our 2nd round of clomid. we had unexplained fertility. it sounds cliche but you just have to believe that it will happen when it is suppose to.. I found reading these threads of clomid success stories really helped on days when my heart was breaking. I took comfort in knowing it wasn't just us. Just keep healthy and don't best yourself up if you have a night off. Also( hope not tmi!) but I used an ovulation machine.. ( not sure if would work with pco) but once had ovulation we just.... but covered the 2 days when ovulating and 3 days after! hope you get your miracle baby really soon. x

I have PCOS and conceived on my first round of clomid 50mg CD 2-6 after a year of actively TTC. I read so many success stories and never thought it would happen for me. I now have an adorable little boy and I'm thankful for him everyday. Hang in there!

I was diagnosed with POS when I was 19/20 without being overweight etc but after suffering from terrible period pains throughout my teenage years and irreular periods (sometime not having them for 8 months at a time) I went on the pill which helped with the pain and regulate my body. I got married in June at 25 and came off my pill 5 days after the wedding and fell pregnant straight away which was amazing, My miricle little girl was perfect and is now 2 1/2. We started trying for another baby in May last year and I fell pregnant in Aug, I had a missmiscarriage at 11wks. I had a period in Dec but didnt have another. I got put on Chlomid in July 50mg - got bloods taken on day 21 but hadnt ovulated. I had cramps and hot flushes. I am now on 100gm and having really bad headaches but no cramps. I am hoping so much that it will work this month.

Its hard to stay positive but I have read so many stories of women like us and lots of happy ever after endings!

I know it feels like everywhere you go there are pregnant people - thats how I feel anyway and I work with 2 pregnant ladies at the moment and although I am so happy for them it hurts inside. I think its good to have something to look forward to like a holiday - it takes your mind off it (a little anyway).

Hello ladies, it's my first time on mumsnet but after reading some of your comments on the way home I thought I would join in. I am also on 50 clomid. Took my first lot last month however came on at lunch time today. Really upset . We have been ttc for 18 months now and I'm not sure how much more of this emotional roller coaster I can take. If I explain my background I'm 35 hus 36 we have had all the tests and everything came back fine. Which is great but doesn't explain why I'm not preggers. We fall into the unexplained infertility group. My doc has put me on clomid for 3 months. I think in the back of mind I thought I had a real chance this month. I was hoping clomid might give my body the boost. Sadly yet again I feel like I'm back to the start again, have to start the next batch of tablets tomorrow.

Hi yellowcat and Welcome, Sorry to hear about your BFN, hopefully next month will be your month if you're anything like me well then I'm sure you've read plenty of 2nd and 3rd month clomid success stories so we have to remain positive. I'm in a very similar situation although a bit older I'm 37 every time I say it, it makes me think "tick, tock, tick tock" lol. All my tests and my partners tests have come back fine so just like you I don't understand! I too believe that clomid is whats needed for an extra boost and I'm also sure that some months it gives a better boost than others! I'm on CD23 at the moment on my first month of clomid fingers still crossed for a BFP but if not it's onwards and upwards to the next cycle! All this business of living in cycles sure does mess with the head sometimes but hopefully it will be all worth it in the end! Good Luck on your second Clomid adventure

Hi Yellow cat, Are you having cylce monitoring as well as Clomid?

I was TCC for 2 years with no luck and at 28 I couldn't undertsand why all my friends/family were falling pregnant so easily and for me it seemed like the most difficult deed in the world. I have had 4 cycles of Clomid but only had monitoring on the first and the forth. They discovered that I had a low egg reserve (of someone that was approaching menopause). I don't qualify for IVF either as my husband has 2 children from a previous relationship. I was all for giving up, as I was getting so stressed and upset each month but last month a mircale happen and i'm now 6 weeks. Don't give up and listen to what the doc recommends, i also had the ovulation injection which i think helped. Look into herbal remedies as I had reflexology, which really helps with the stress of TCC. I'll keep my fingers crossed for you. stay strong and keep positive, nature can suprise us. x

I am just starting the procedure of Clomid Provera then HSG then hopefully CLOMID cant waitto get it started been waiting for 5 years to get to where i am now and its not been easy as most of you know.

Hi, I'm new to clomid too. I have a daughter who is 31/2 yrs old. Fell naturally with her first time of trying, came off pill in march started trying and conceived in September. I didn't want a huge age gap between my children started trying this April and going by previous exp would fall straight away, but instead found out I had PCO. What a killer been trying 8months had Accupuncture for 3months, been on metformin for 2months and had 1 cycle on clomid with no success. I'm getting so down every month when no confirmed pregnancy. We have friends and family saying oh it's time you have another our daughter needs a sibling not knowing the pain and upset were going through. We have had a referall to fertility specialist so hoping for some success soon x

I am new to this and really find the above comments useful. I would really like to know more about clomid and hear if it really does work or not. I will tell you a bit about myself, I am 26 and my hubby is 28, I have a blocked right tube, I have had lots of tests done and have found out that I will still be able to have children, I still ovulate but I clearly need some help. I am only on a low dose, taking 50g days 2-6 of my period but every other month. I started last month, I did ovulation tests and ovulated and was really hopefull but then came on this morning, totally gutted
We have been trying for babies for a few years now and I really want this to work but feeling really negative now. Is anyone in a similar situation? x

I am 31 and my o/half is approaching 32. I think so far we fall into the unexplained infertility category Sperm test came back all fine, I get positive OPK's so assume I am ovulating (I had day 21 bloods done about 6 months ago which confirmed this) and I had a lap & dye to rule out any blocked tubes - they too were fine. Doc did say I had small patches of endo but he wasn't concerned. I am currently on CD6 of my first round of 50mg Clomid to be taken on days 2-6. We have been trying for a year so far with one positive HPT, which unfortunately resulted in a non-sticky bean

Hi all, first time using a mums net forum. Have been ttc for 17 months. Am 36 in feb, husband 32. Have had all the tests and the most recent series of bloods suggest that I'm not always oving (first couple in march showed perfectly fine ov so glad i went back for second series) so doctor has prescribed clomid which I should start Tuesday. I've been totally obsessed with all things clomid since it was prescribed Thursday. So so excited and have found this thread a great support. I have been pretty obsessive throughout the ttc course and relieved that I can touch base with women going thro same thing. Baby dust to us all xxx

I have just finished my first set of 5 tablets....I am currently on CD 8. I'm only on 50mg and haven't had any unpleasant side effects - hope that's not a sign it isn't working?! I am due to see my doctor after the 1st 3 months but he isn't monitoring me in the meantime. Will you be monitored? I will be going for day 21 bloods this cycle but that's it x

I'll be on 50mg too. Dr wants to see me cd 12 to see how many follicles i produce on 50mg and then alter the dose if necessary. I'm really lucky with her actually, she's v supportive. Great that u escaped the side effects - don't worry about what that means - I read that se only affect 30% of clomid takers. Good odds - hope I'm as lucky as u. X

Hi all - saw this thread and could not resist joining in. I have just finished my second round of Clomid (50mg) after finding out (on Christmas Eve no less!) that the first round was not successful, I did not ovulate it would seem as my progesterone level was only 4.0. I was devastated as I had really felt like the clomid was getting things going...I had loads of swinges and pulling feelings on my left side and just felt different. The clomid seems to give me horrific cold sweats at night and I sleep terribly, I also felt incredibly low and fed up...but that could just be the New Year and grotty weather!

Should also add that I have a completely perfect 19 month old DS, but am still finding this so difficult as I always dreamt of a big family. I have never had regular periods due to stupidity with eating and exercise when I was younger - but with DS I fell pregnant literally days after having my Mirena coil removed...this must have caused some kind of strange hormonal surge that did the trick!

So, that's me - looking forward to hopefully keeping in touch x

Bad luck on Xmas eve news - terrible timing. Take heart that its early days and keep the faith. Easier said than done. Statistically speaking, it does take months for most of us. Hope ur se were just the result of the weather etc! Could def do without all that extra grief at this point! Xx

My DD (now nearly 14) is the result of clomid...I have PCOS, don't really do much natural ovulating as far as I can tell, but 2nd try with 50mg clomid did the trick for me. One thing I found helpful - because my 'cycle' such as it was even on clomid is long - was ovulation prediction kit (very new back then). I also give some credit to us going off for a nice walking holiday in Exmoor so we were enjoying ourselves not just grimly TTC!

Can't remember any side effects at all.

Hi Every1, I have read most of ur questions and answers, but i havent come acros anythn wat am going thru at the moment, i have started clomid tabs its my second day today, i dont have periods so the doc said take them after doin a preg test, but from what iv read here ur meant to take them on the second day of ur periods! i feel weird.

Am really confused, am havin these stupid symtoms that are making me feel dizzy and i feel like vomiting, am feeling tired and sleepy. What do i do? plz sum1 help.

Hi LittleBo, the feeling when dreaded AF turns up is horrible and although not easy to get our minds back on track, we pick ourselves up, dust ourselves off and try again! How many rounds of Clomid does your doc intend to give you? I have to see mine after 3 to discuss what happens next.

88Happy I would double check with your doc and explain your concerns. I have to say on all the sights I've been browsing, those who don't have periods naturally have all seemed to have taken drugs to bring them on first.....but I'm not a doctor so couldn't say for sure. I can't imagine he/she would say to take them if it wasn't ok to do so. Double checking is the only way to put your mind at rest.

Hi Grimma, I too like to use the OPKs......seeing a smiley face (on the clear blue digi ones) doesn't half give you a boost!

Hi im on month 3 of clomid and have pcos. Im pretty sure I had implantation bleeding on saturday night as there was a tiny bit when I wiped and I know I ov 6 days prior to that so fingers crossed. It is very hard and depressing when af shows eveey month but keep positive and hope you get a bfp this month xx

Thanks for your support everyone. 88happy - I don't have periods either, before my first round of Clomid I took drugs for two weeks to induce one but even that only resulted in an incredibly light bleed. I did not get a period at the end of round 1 but my doc told me just to pick an arbitrary day as day one and start again on day 2...so that's what I did -so hang in there.

Perkins1 my doc wants me to try three months at 50mg and will then increase to 150mg if no success - but will also refer me this month if no success just to have some scans etc.

hey its my first time on a site like this but thought i would give it ago as none of my family or friends have ever had problems with conceiving.
we have been ttc for 5yrs and am on clomid 50mg and will be startin month 2 of it this month and have just found out a friend is expecting again and has really put me in a down mood about everythin, i know i will shake the mood off eventually and act like everything is fine but have to admit it is hard

Good point on the digital aspect - I did read an interesting fact about cheap opks yesterday - apparently the second line needs to be as dark or darker than the first line to show ovulation. As they measure a chemical that is always in the system but increased at time of ov, they can be misleading if you (like me) didn't realise this. For a long time I've thought I was ovulating perfectly but progesterone tests on the cd 21 of two recent consecutive months showed otherwise. X

Well...I got a smiley face on a digital OPK this morning and nearly threw up with excitement, although have since read loads of forums which say that clomid can give false positives if you take too near your last tablet BUT the paperwork in the box says that clomid does not interfere with results...it would be pretty early to O as am only on CD10 but I do take my clomid days 2-6 so who knows...anyone have any thoughts? as you can see, I am driving myself crazy! x

I ov very early on clomid. Month 1 was day 9 and this month was day 8 so it well could be hun xx

Just to encourage you ladies. My 1st cycle clomid baby is now 13. Taller than me and stealing my make up.

Also conceived dd2 when dd1 just 9 mo without any help. It doesn't work for everyone but it does work.

Hi Stephy, when did you ovulate prior to Clomid? Are you on 50mg too or a higher dose? I normally ovulate around CD 16 so I hope I haven't missed it as I only started testing today (CD11) purely because I'd read about it happening earlier.....only time will tell I guess .

Hi there everyone - a quick question...does anyone know if the day 21 blood tests can be done too late (i.e. do progesterone levels drop after day 21 if you ovulated but are not pg?) - even though I believe I ovulated on day 10 my doctor still wants me to have the test on day 21 (which is actually a Sunday so will be the Monday, day 22). Don't want to risk getting a false negative if the clomid is actually doing something! Thanks guys.

Popped my first clomid tonight. Exciting stuff. AF was an unbelievable 8 days late this month so wasn't terribly impressed at my body playing silly beggars at this point. Been ttc for 17 months and never been more than 4days late! Hey ho - back on the horse again (dh will love that metaphor!).

Hello everyone, first time I've posted so just wanted to thank everyone for all the story's that they are shearing. I've been ttc for three years with my hubby, I've done 6 long months of 50mg clomid unsuccessful just seen my futility doc a few days ago and now I'm starting another 6 months of 50mg, I asked if there was anything other they could do and they said my only other option is IVF. I don't have PCOS I just don't ovulate on my own. I'm losing faith that I will ever get pregnant and I don't have anyone that I know going throw the same sort of thing.

Hi Mury - I did use an OPK, a fancy digital one at that, and I got a lovely big smiley face on the morning of day 9, so I guess all I am asking is whether my progesterone levels could have dropped by day 22 as this will actually be 13 days post ovulation as opposed to 7...although it could of course have been a false positive, who knows! Hope you don't get any side affects and that clomid works its magic for you x

Kellie91, keep your chin up, it is so hard I know and some days it is all I can think about but try to stay positive - it can only help in the long run. What are you using to induce ovulation as you say you are not on Clomid? x

HI All I am so glad I have found this thread - I unfortunately had an ectopic pregnancy in November of last year and lost my left tube (and almost my life, surgeon said another 30 minutes and I wouldn't have survived I had lost that much blood when it ruptured - the worst ectopic my hospital had seen - anyway I am here and my DS of 3 years old still has his mummy which is the most important thing). Anyway sorry for the life story - my consultant has just prescribed me Clomid to start from my next period which is due 28.01.13 all being well - I have to take the tablets on days 2-6 with a blood test on day 21 for the first 2 months - I am just popping on to say Hi and hopefully there will be lots of baby dust for us all whilst on CLomid - good luck all!!! I am so excited to start on it - I usually ovulate late on day 19 so will be using the ovulation sticks - can anyone advise how often and from what day in the cycle to start having regular sex please? xx

Momo1974.. Sorry to hear that, I got advise to have sex between days 8 and 20 every other day as sometimes every day can be too much I'd also advise to go online and down load the egg meets sperm book I found this very helpful x

Hiya Momo1974, thanks for sharing your story, really puts things into perspective and I really admire your spirit and enthusiasm to keep trying xx I take Clomid days 2-6 too, it did not work first month but this month I did get a positive on a digital OPK on day 9, it could of course have been a false positive but fingers crossed it was the real thing...my doctor said to have regular intercourse for 8 days 5 days after the last tablet, but if I did ovulate on day 9 that is only 3 days after the last one, so perhaps get cracking a bit sooner than that! Fingers crossed for everyone.

Kellie91, so you are on 100mg, cool. When you say no success, do you mean that you are not ovulating or just no BFP? Do you have day 21 bloods done?

LittleBo80 I'm in the same boat as you I think, or maybe hope?! Before Clomid I would get a smiley face on CD16 so I would only start using OPK's a few days earlier.....after much googling I saw that many people on Clomid were getting positives much earlier like your CD9. By this point I was on CD11 so started testing from then.....so far no positive OPK and I'm currently on CD21! I will be going for a blood test on Monday morning but I think it will be a waste of time. I'm hoping I did ovulate but before I started testing. Do you ever look at the test strip when you take it out of the digital reader? I usually have a look and when I'm approaching smiley face day I start to see the second line appearing which gradually gets darker until it matches the test line (which is when I get a positive result). When I tested on CD11 I could see a second line which got more feint the day after and all I get now is the one control line.....I'm hoping that was an indication that I did have a surge but I had just missed it, what do you think?

Hiya Perkins1 - yes I agree that this month is really dragging, and the snow does not help as we are practically housebound! I definitely think that it may be the case that you started testing a little too late, certainly if you could see a second faint line at that point. I must admit that I did not look at the test strip when I took it out of the digital reader - I was so bl00dy excited that it was a positive that I took leave of my senses. Although in all honesty, 11 days on, I find myself not actually able to trust that little smiley face...it all seems too good to be true, it was the first time I had ever used a digital OPK and so it all seems like too much of a coincidence. Had my day 21 bloods taken on Friday and, like you, feel like they were a waste of time - am totally geared up for more bad news! Everyone tells you to stay positive etc. but January is making it tough (not helped by the fact that I have given up sugar, caffeine, alcohol and have seriously reduced my carb intake as my doctor says that a carb rich diet can impact negatively on fertility...I saw people eating a victoria sponge cake on telly this morning and nearly cried with envy!). I had yet another friend tell me she was pregnant last week.....that makes 3 of them and a 4th gave birth 4 weeks ago! I'm getting quite good at putting on the 'oh wow, congratulations I'm so happy for you' face now though (then I come home and have a sneaky cry and then sort my head out as though nothing happened).

littlebo80 ive had 21day bloods last month and this month but wont no results till go back in march, i only started usin opk this month and dint get a positivex

OK, so my doctor phoned me this evening and my progesterone level on day 19 was 65!!! so, definitely ovulated - thank the lord!!! Am trying not to get my hopes up too much, guess I should hold off till the weekend to test...unless AF gets me first. But - if I really did ovulate on day 9 I am 12 dpo today...how soon do you think I could test (I have a super accurate digital HPT loitering in my bathroom cupboard...).

Oh and Perkins1 - I am a total carb monster too usually, we live near an awesome little bakery and I have been known to polish off a whole loaf in a day before...washed down with a massive slab of cake! xx

I have PCOS and managed to have my record number of periods last year - a grand total of 4! I have a 12 year old and 9 year old. Since my 9 year old we haven't used any contraception. I spoke to my Dr a year ago. She gave me Metphormin (hence the record number of periods!). I spoke again to a Dr yesterday to ask if I can be given Chlomid. He said no. They don't do it on the NHS in our surgery . What do I do?! I know I should be pleased with the two I have - and I am very happy obviously. But if when any of friends tell me they're pregnant, I feel like I'm grieving the child I don't have!

Does anyone else know what I mean?

Hi just rang for my results and progesterone on day 23 was 67.4 so have ovulated but had negative opks since day 11?! Would it still be that high if I ov'd before day 11?

That is a brilliant level Perkins1, you trumped me! It would certainly still be that high if you were pregnant...I know this for sure because, being the most impatient person in the world I did a HPT at about 3am on Wednesday morning...and got a beautiful, amazing, wonderful BFP!! Did another in the evening and the same again!! I know that it is massively early days but I am so excited and grateful and...well, completely gobsmacked actually - feel incredibly lucky! Weird thing though, am on cycle day 24 and both tests came back 'Pregnant 3+' which means 3+ weeks since conception, and 5+ weeks pregnant, which is physically impossible since I did not ovulate last month and only started clomid this time on January 1st...anyhoo, a positive is a positive and I am one happy lady - I have my fingers crossed that you get the same result, how amazing would that be? but, even if not this month, 67.4 is an awesome number so you should be so pleased xxx

Im on cd26 but not sure whether AF might be en route as had the odd twinge in my back.....I have thought about testing cos if I did ovulate before cd 11 I'll be 16dpo but I'm too chicken ha ha!

Dont worry about the no. of weeks, point is ur preggars! Keep us posted so we have something to aim for if we need a few more goes ;)

I only had my bloods tested once on day 21 the first month on them, I had no joy in the 6 months so wated to get an appointment and when to see them a week ago they said that I could do another 6 months or IVF. They said that I responded well to 50mg clomid as my blood test was over 20 so they didn't want to up my dose of clomid, I'm just getting so frustrated now, it appears I'm ovulating and myself and hubby are doing everything at the right time ( his count is very good) but nothing is happening still, I just don't know what to do now they said that is all they can do for me so I guess if it doesn't work in the next 6 months it's IVF next. x

Hi Sarah, I dont know what to suggest....maybe see if ur doc could do an internal ultrasound to check ur follicles this time around? Another blood test to check ur still responding well perhaps? U have to badger some doctors to get anything out of them. Dont lose faith, u'll get there xx

Well I am demented at min.
My partner and I have been ttc for 2years now.
I am now on my 4th round of 50mg of clomid.
My 1st scan and 1st round of clomid was suppsedly working well with a folicil of 18mm and on 3rd scan I had ovulated and I also got a blood test which confirmed I had ovulated.
Although still nothing...I dont know what elsewe can do or change.
I am doing my temp in morning, I am also using ovulations tests and of course having sex. but still nothing.

Anyone got any advice of anything else we can do, apart from wait and see lol.

I only got scanned the 1st month too and supposedly I responded well to it too.
Although I feel like how can I have responded well if im still not preg - you know?

I really remember what that feels like and was giving up hope after 3 years ttc when it worked out for us on month 5 of clomid. I really hope you'll have some good news as it's at least encouraging the scans looked good, they did for me too so seemed a question of time but it's hard to keep positive. I also didn't know at the time but I have wheat intolerance and now no longer eat it- I don't know how common this is but interestingly I think i read it can be associated with unexplained infertility. 18 months and every day i feel how lucky we are. Really hoping you won't have long and keep us posted as I remember so clearly how long waiting felt and our aense of expectation and disappointment each month.

Well ive got to say this is all very new to me, im confused and ive got to say very scared as I am a born 'little miss worrier'.

After years on the pill etc with very up and down periods, I came off the pill at the biggining of summer and my periods did'nt return. Being the worrier i am I went to see my gp and following my first period 6 months later in Nov I was delighted! Gp however took blood samples on day 21 and they showed I wasnt ovulating. My Gp would'nt help as we have only been trying 6 months and said they cant reffer me for another year. Knowing my progesterone levels are really low and im not ovulating I could not leave it there so we have gone private.

Very overwhelming exerience for me. But we have been this week, both had blood tests, partner has had a sperm check and im going back within 14 days of my next period for a scan to check my tubes are ok. Providing the sperm and tubes are OK i will be on clomid ready to take after the next period.

Just praying now that I have a period in Feb so I can have the scan and then another period in Mar so I can start clomid.

Very worried and a little scared. Anyone else gone through all these checks?? how quickly does clomid usually kick in the first time its used?

I think you are starting off on the same process I did.
Are you getting a lap and dye to see if your tubes are blocked etc?
If so I got one although I got put to sleep for it as he wanted to also check I had no endometriosis.

My tubes were fine and I had the start of endometriosis which he lasered away.

Then I got put on Provera to bring my period on as they are so irregular and then the clomid on the 2nd day of bleeding.

I am now on my 4th round of clomid and nothing yet ,
Hopefully this time it may work (fingers xd).

I went to see the Dr today as I wanted to ask some questions and see if there was anymore I could be doing although there isnt except hope n wait haha.

She did tell me I am on the waiting list for IUI which I should start in June/July.

Yes they are putting the dye in to check not blocked and also checking my partners sperm. I dont have any reson to think anything wrong with either so fingers crossed we are just checking to rule out then we can start clomid anf hopfully start these eggs off )

The most frustrating thing is like you my periods are only just coming back so they are so irregular and i now have to wait for a period so i can have the scan within the first 14 days of it coming, then all being well wait for the next period so i can finally start clomid! sounds simple but i need 2 period to get started and thats not nessasarly 2 months for me ((((

Just praying i have a period in the next couple of weeks.

They havent offered me anything to bring on a period, how did that work?

Its ok getting the clomid and the eggs sorted but its all got to tie in with the sex, grrrrrr!! how oftern are you ladies doing it?? I dont want it to turn into 'right we NEED to have sex now', but suppose even if just I knew when was best I could stimulate it without discussing it in depth! We d have a heathly sex life anyway but as im only going to be on clomid 6 months I dont want to miss the boat because of timing after all this effort.

Anyone help with this?? sorry all new and a bit confusing for me x

Ooooh also cm201085, my period (based on 28 days) is sue today, im really not convinced it will even come this week. Desperate to have it so I can have my scan then another to start clomid.

However if tehy dont come can I just ask for that drug you had to start your periods off? how did that work? did you use that then straight onto clomid? x

Hi Littlemissworrier, yes u can use the clear blue ovulation tests whilst on Clomid (opk's in ttc jargon!). When they detect ur LH surge u get a smiley face (digital tests) and u should ovulate 12-36 hours later according to the instructions. We try to get jiggy every other day or every 2 days anyway but it is hard, especially if ur feeling under the weather or are tired after a long day in work. U can take ur temp every day and do a bbt chart but u'll have to Google that cos I don't do it. I do have the Fertility Friend app to track my periods/meds etc....they reckon ur period comes c14days after ovulation so if u can spot a pattern with ur periods u may be able to work it back to guestimate coming months. I think the drug to bring on ur period is Provera and I would certainly ask ur doctor about it....this waiting game is long enough!

Not given up quite yet but my iron did feel the brunt of my anger when af arrived, especially after getting 3 positive hpt's during last week! Onwards and upwards with round no. 2 and a new iron methinks!

Well starting my next 6 months soon as I missed the window this month, feeling really down atm everyone seems to be pregnant on my fb and at work, trying not to think about it just doesn't work and today my friend brought he 11day old baby to work it took all I had not to burst into tears when she asked how I was getting on on the baby front. I hope we all get some great news soon. There are a lot of ladies around me that are pregnant or got new borns. I work in a supermarket and they are all over the place. It hurts a lot to see them, I am prying that clomid works for me as I'm not sure how much longer I can keep this up. Xx

They haven't scanned me at all since I've had clomid the only test I have been given is a blood test on day 21 to see if I ovulated and that was only on my first round ( now 7 months ago ) I start my next round of 50mg on my next period as haven't taken it for two months. I don't personal know anyone that has had clomid and am very confused as everyone seems to have been seen and had more tests than I have had, I have only seen my futility specialist three times since I was given clomid including the first time I agent there and like I said it's been 7 months now. My next option is IVF as they told me when I went at the begining of this month and they don't want to increase my dose as "I responded well to the treatment" I'm just frustrated and very confused!!!

They did check to see if I had any blockages but I don't luckily and my hubby's sperm has been tested also fine but this was middle of last year and since then I've only had the one blood test, my periods was also all over the place for about a year so had meds to induse a period so I could start the clomid but since then I have a period around day 32 every month, I don't have PCOS and they couldn't find any reason why I wasn't ovulating every month or why I had random bleeds. So all in all they haven been very helpfull and like I said in above message since I've been on 50mg clomid they haven really done anything. Thanks for the replys is helping xxx

I am the same as you Sarah all my tubes are fine the fella is fine I'm just not ovulating. I also have underactive thyroid so that could be a problem too. I really hope this clomid works as I can't take much more disappointment. I know it's hard Sarah but you just have to relax a little and let nature do her thing. That's what I'm now thinking anyway xx

Cant you ask again for the higher dosage? reading these posts allot of ladies seem to get caught on 100ml, know they said you responded well but they only tested you once - bless you, seems so unfair on you! keep pushing them hunny, sometimes they just need it.

They really tried to push me into going away and coming back in 6 months as they thought my body would just 'click click in' and start ovulating. I just couldnt wait another 6 months!!

I really hope my period comes soon, I need another 2 before i can even start clomid, one for the scan and one to start clomid. Im giving it one more week then I am going to ask them to induce my period ike you did.

Sorry I took so long to reply...
Once I had had my laperoscopy he had agreed to give me provera as my periods were so irregular so I wasnt waiting another 2-3months before I could start it.
I took the provera whenever I wanted for 7 days i think it was and then after 10 days Im sure I got a period and on 2nd day of period I was to start the clomid.
The next week I got an internal scan which should the folical at 11mm and the next week it was 18mm and the 3rd week it was gone which meant I had ovulated, and I also gota blood test to double check.

Im also rather confused myself to be honest as when I got the scans and blood tests they had said I ovulated round about the 21st day of my cycle.
And last month when I did my tests everyday on the 21st day it was positive as they said!

Although this month my periods started funny andmy ovulation sticks said i was ovulating last night which is only the 14th day of my cycle and It was positive again this morn too!!
So I am confused with whats happening - you do only ovulate once a month dont u?

Oh n PS: Littlemissworrier...I would just ask dr about provera - cant see why hey'd say no. plus I took that once for 7-10days. And I think the clomid regulates ur period too as I get one every month now but thats cause of the clomid I think.

Hello, yes you only ovulate once a month, I hope u have better luck than I have so far, I'm not working much next week so gonna go to my GPs for a chat if anyone has any suggestions on what I should ask? Can my GP even help? Or will they just tell me to get in touch with the hospital, I suppose anything is worth a try at this point. When I had my first perod after the awful 6 months with nothing after the pill, i did the clear blue ovulation sticks and i got a positive smiley face on day 9!! i was over the moon thinking i was ovulating as at this point i didnt know anything was wrong other than id had no periods after coming off the pill. Anyway on day 21 i went to docs so they coudl double chcek with a blood test, thats when they told me i hadnt ovulated and my hormones were inbalanced - was so confused and upset and thats when our journey began.

My doc wasnt much help, just said go away and come back in year!!! he said it should all kick start itself??? i really coulnt wait a year knowing my hormones were inbalanced etc so I called the hospital and asked for a quote to see the specialist privately - they have been amazing!!

that first period was November and i didnt have one in Dec but i did again in Jan. Now just waiting on the next one (hopfully this month) for the scan and then clomid!!!

cm I did ask my doc why it showed on the ovulation kit as a positive if they said the blood one showed i never ovulated?? They kind of fobbed me off telling me its a different hormone that shws on the ovulation kits and not 100% im so connfuned so not used one after my Jnauary period but now have no clue if I am ovulating or when ?? suppose they will track that when i start clomid??? never wanted a period so badly to start everything - im definatey going to call the clinic with your advise. THANK YOU SO MUCH!!!

Yeah I had heard that before about ovulation tests not working properly as of clomid.
When I started it all I had said to dr should I use tests and check temp etc and they said not too and just have loads of sex!

So for the 1st 2months of the clomid I didnt use tests or check temp as I thought it would be pointless.

And then I read on forums that ppl were using them and checking there temp, so I ended up checking and using them...but now im beginning to wonder if i will keep using them...dnt know if its worth it, you know...

CM when you use the ovulaion sticks, do you still get a positive reading every month? if so it must be picking somthing up?? gosh its so confusing isnt it? im not even started on my clomid yet and they said it gave me a wrong reading? grrrrrrrr

yes it is i was told it helps with the clomid i was put on metformin in october while i lost weight as was told i was to big to go on clomid by jan i had lost 2 and half stone and given clomid which i only got to start it on the first of this month so its all still new to me but i have looked it up on the net and its meant to work really well together so im keeping fingers crossed dont know how much longer i can keep getting let down every month with no pregnancy xx

Hi all, hope you don't mind me joing. I'm starting my 3rd round of clomid today after no bfp's so far. I had 21 day blood test round 1 which showed I'd ovulated on 50mg so stayed on that dose for 2nd cycle (wasn't monitored for that one). Now I'm having a day 10 scan, still on lowest dose. I also take metformin as I'm diabetic (type 2) and have pcos. Been ttc 2 years so far and no bfp's so I know how you feel fingers crossed for this month for us all! oh and well done on your weight loss!

CM thank you for your advise, I called the clinic today as on day 36 of cycle and still no period ( I mentioned to them about 'bringing on my period' so I can have the scans and start clomid. They said to call back next monday, if no period by then they will speal to my specialist and see if he will prescribe it - fingers crossed!!!

i have been for my 10 day scan today its day 12 for me and been told i have follicles on my right side that are 9 and half but on my left side there is a big one size 16 and a half and womb lineing is 6 and a half to so looks like im going to ovulate any time in next few days so keeping our fingers crossed it works first time round xx

Well I haveonly done the ov tests for 2 months and yes last month on day 21 i ovulated and thi month i obulated on day 14.god knows and i'll do it again on 21st day just to check im not ovulating.

I think the 5th month I wont use the tests at all and see what happens.

I have been reading this for the last few weeks but not got round to signing up!! It is great to read everyone stories and not feel so alone and know that not only one that letting this consume me!

We have been ttc for over two years now and are on our third round of 50g clomid. I am also getting married in a month but did not want to turn down the clomid as had so much trouble getting it as overweight. I am just seeing my GP and only got day 21 blood tests on my first cycle.

We are lucky enough to have a beautiful little boy who is nearly 3, I am desperate for him to have a sibling as he would make a great big brother.

Sorry this has turned into a novel! I am getting positive opk now for first time and using pre seed and robittison (think how you spell it!) Anyone using anything else?

I've also got some preseed to try this month, third round of clomid for me too. What is robittison could I ask? I also take metformin (diabetic), folic acid, vit C & conception multi-vits. Phew!

LittleMiss day 21 bloods are done on that day cos ur meant to test for progesterone 7 days post ovulation, but if u ovulated on day 9 then 7 days later would be day 16 so maybe u did ovulate but the test was done too late? Also the clear blue opk's say that Clomid doesn't interfere with the tests so we should be fine using them. Anyway, hopefully Monday u can take that nxt step and bring on ur period....bully ur doctor if u have to

Only reason I ask is they both cut out alchol all togther and improved their diets(he lost weight and she had to gain a little) the specialist I am under hasnt mentioned alchol or weight but his receptionist checked my bmi and said if it drops any lower they wont treat me. Its currently 19.5 whoch I thought was heailthy? apparently they wont treat fertility to bmi under 19. im so desperate to get pregnant has anyonne else had similar advice, if so I think putting a few pounds on may help maybe?? dont know what to do for best as I thought I was really healthy

Littlemiss I have tried changing my diet, eating more veg and fruit and trying to have more milk well at least in my cereal as I dont like milk to drink anyway.
Also trying to stop drinking so much fizzy juice...

My stomachs been funny this week, i get shooting pains from middle that spreads across and then other times its like a butterflies or as if your nervous.

Im extatic for the person of course but always get that little pang of when will it be me...

I know what you mean perkins, what with a toddler and my partner doing shift work we have to book it and set alarms. The pre seed only makes the whole thing even more sexy!

Robitussin is a cough medicine, I know sounds wierd but apparently clomid can thicken your CM so this thins it out. Has to be one that only contains guaifenesin and 10ml 3 times a day, five days before (you think) ovulation will start.

I have just cut out caffine and trying to eat more sensibly but cant bring myself to stop the wine yet! This is all stressful enough I need some vices to get through it all!

Had my positive opk at the weekend so now I am on lovely two week count down. For some reason cant stop watching One born every minute just to torture myself!

Sorry cm201085 could you be ovulating with the stomach pain. The pain I have since being on clomid is worse than period.

I ov'd on the 14th day this month but it is meant to be the 21st day according to Dr's so I will test again today.

Only my close friends and family know how long I have been trying for but my work doesnt know. I think they have an incline as im at the gyn suite alot lol.

I have done a years temp contract and I also got it renewed until november this year so by then that will mean I have been there 2years all in.

Although I am scared to tell them what is going on as it is a temp contract as I dont know how it will all work...will they just terminate my contract, they might not re-new my contract, do i even get maternity leave. I dont know and I dont know who to ask...
And i think i am going to have to eventually tell them once I start IUI and def when (if) it comes to IVF.

Thats tough about your job situation cm and I'm afraid I don't have much advice for you. I'm a teacher in a secure job but got a promotion to senior leadership this year but it's only temporary too and they'll be interviewing for it again soon. I'll then have the tell them/not tell them dilemma only a couple of my close work friends are in the know - it's not something you want to broadcast is it!

Hi Sarah, I was just checking in on this thread and noticed that your story is quite similar to my own! I too was on 50mg of clomid for 3 months, my day 21 bloods on the first month came back up over 100 so doc told me to continue for next 5 months on 50mg. When it was time to start my 3rd month I made a very bold but conscious decision to take 100mg and also change the baby making method by changing I mean I just had sex more often and when possible had sex in the morning, afternoon and night compared to first 3 months when it was just at night time to my surprise last week I got a BFP after ttc for 20 months. I know you're feeling down at the moment and I'm hoping this might give u a little lift and also some food for thought! Best of Luck!

Hi, I'm starting clomid tomorrow (have PCOS and don't think I ovulate normally), I'm feeling quite anxious and excited! Don't want to get my hopes up but...come on clomid, get me knocked up! Saw this thread and wondered how everyone here has got on? Have there been any success stories on here?

A good GP can go a long way! I didn't have the nerve to inform my GP but did admit it to him the other day...he didn't seem surprised and just said well whatever you did you got what you needed! Good luck

So myself and my hubby have seen my GP yesterday and she has sent an email to my the futility department ( she wasnt very inpressed at how we have been treated so far) so should get another appointment soon so they can explain properly what our options are and poss up my dose of clomid but if not I'm just going to do it myself. I had a bit of blood this morning so think my period going to start, my heart says maybe implatation but my head says not. gutting as had positive opk this month used all the wierd stuff and did the deed lots!!

2-3weeks.
Although I feel like I have really bad cramp though, dont know if thats normal or not!! So a bit worried.
Although I cant get an app with GP until sometime next week...

Well ppl what id say is dont doubt the clomid like I did haha.
The only new thing we did this month was have a pillow under me so i was at a slight angle as its supposedly meant to help the sperm travel in right direction. And I ate more healthy lol and didnt smoke or drink and Kenneth didnt drink this month either.
So we think with a combo of all this itsworked.

Thought I would add my story as it seems to help me hearing all of yours. I'm 27 (hubby 34) and been TTC for 3 years. 1 miscarriage 2 years ago at 8wks. After this my period was very irregular (3 months with nothing then months with constant etc) and I decided to see my Gyn Specialist. After waiting for months for appointments they finally discovered I have PCOS. Unusual as I do not have the common symptoms such as facial hair/overweight etc. On 31st Dec 12 I had tubes tested with dye which showed no problems. I was then started on clomid 50mg which I have taken on cycle day 2-6. A scan after taking these showed 3 large follicles and I was advised that the chance of multiple birth was very high and to wait until the following month and take 25mg. Of course I have tried, more than 1 would be a blessing after 3 years. Knew I had ovulated as very bloated and cramping. This was confirmed by a blood test a week later. Took a test yesterday but was ng. I'm hoping its still too early (wishful thinking) but ready to try again on cycle 2 if not.

baby hi and good luck to you too! I was wondering about the whole multiple birth thing. As my scan is on day 13, I was thinking that I'll dtd before then so even if they tell me I am at risk, it's too late then surely as sperm can live for 5 days? I know what you mean about it not being a bad thing having more than one, but I had treatment on my cervix so am aware it might not be very strong so I think one would be safest for me!

They told me to have 3 large follicles all of the same size is unusual especially on round 1 of clomid so try not to worry. When u get ur scan u probably won't have ovulated so if there is any risk they will advise u. They warned me of triplets which freaked me out a bit but the chances of that happening are slim.

hi Alexandra, yes it hycosy scan ill be having in next 14 days, then providing that it is all clear (nothing telling them that it wont be, just procaution at this stage - fingers crossed although I am VERY nervoius) then i will start clomid on my next period.

I dont have any of the signs of PCOS at this stage and partners sperm has come back OK, so it just seems that my irregular period are down to my low progesterone which is why i am not ovulating.

Im now just praying that the scan is OK and clomid works for us and kick starts my ovulation!!!

From reading all the posts and swating up on clomid ha ha, it seems clomid is usually prescribed to help with PCOS or ovulation if ladles aren't ovulating themselves (like me)

Hi has any One brought clomid on tinternet and taken it have just got mine and a little worried about taking it without medical guidance says on most of the write ups that up need scans etc to monitor it

littleerin I would def not use clomid bought over the Internet and yes you're meant to be monitored while you're on it. So I wouldn't do it because firstly you're not being monitored at all, and secondly how do you know the quality of the drug if you got it online? Do you live in the UK? You can get clomid free on the NHS.

littlemiss you sound like me with the swotting up, I'm a bit of a worrier so have done soooo much googling research! I don't think I ovulate naturally but I have PCOS so I think that's why. I was thinking the other day that I don't know for sure I don't ever ovulate naturally, but I've never had signs of ovulation, I have PCOS, no BFP after 13 months trying and my cycles are long and irregular, so based on that, I don't THINK I ovulate.

I tried to find stats the other day on whether clomid is more successful for certain things than others too! I think though, if you aren't ovulating and it makes you ovulate, then you just have the same chance of getting preggers each month as the average for people without ovulation issues. So at least you and I will be in with a chance each cycle!

Goods luck with the HyCoSy, I was ridiculously nervous but so relieved when they didn't think they could see blocked tubes so could give me clomid. Really hope you follow exactly in my footsteps there!

On day 10 now and just dtd but I guess too early to be trying! One thing I did read, can't remember if it was on here or somewhere else, but it said the first cycle of clomid is just priming to system for ovulation, so it's more likely to lead to BFP in following months. Although some people do get BFP first time round! Would be amazing if that were me!

I was in baby shower hell yesterday! 3 of my friends are expecting, 2 have recently given birth and another is rediculously excited to have started taking folic acid in preparation for her and her partner to start trying in the next few months.....I was all babied out! Was just too much all in one sitting so I felt sorry for myself and gorged on the chocolate fondue ha ha!

I think I could do with a distraction like planning a wedding but my other half isn't quite ready for that....dirty nappies and crying babies yes but posh frocks and speeches no!

50ml and cycle one - and I am a depressed wreck already!! I just feel like my chances are so slim of ovulating AND getting pregnant, the stats said something like 5% chance each month and that's only for the ones who ovulate? (so cumulative chance over 6 cycles is 30% for 'ovulaters') I hope I'm wrong on the stats though, please correct me if so! Maybe the answer is not too google, everyone is different and the stats might not be accurate. Sorry if I'm bringing you down!! Think I need to snap out of this and stop being a miserable cow! x

Ah bless you, well if it helps, the stats I understood as follows (given to me by my fertilty specialist):

- Clomid success rate of kick starting ovulation in women is 80%
- Of this huge percent that it works for, 60-70% of these women gain pregnancy within 6 months on clomid (providing they are on the correct dosage and monitored to check this etc)
- When on clomid, providing it kick starts your ovulation successfully (doctor can track this is working for you) then you have a +5% chance of gaining pregnacy over somone who is trying naturally (providing everything else is clear - tubes/sperm etc)

Does this help lift your spirits?

I havent been diagnosed with Pcos but I have been told im not producing Progestrone (whoch is why im not ovulating and hopfully clomid will sort) but the above is what they told me - finges crossed xxxx

No they haven't ruled out pcso yet but blood test are showing negative for it. Said they will have a definate 100% answer to that and clear tubes after my hycosi scan then fingers crossed ill start clomid.

What a great thread. I'd love to hear any advice if any of you can relate to my situation.

We're using the CLear Blue Fertility Monitor. We used it for two cycles last year and fell pregnant twice. As far as I'm aware..... from the very little info my NHS consultant has given me.... my progesterone wasn't strong enough to support the pregnancies. Does that make sense?

I was given 3 months of clomid 50mg and was asked to have day 21 bloods. I only managed 2 months, as my period disappeared. My results were 20 and then 1!

This month I was prescribed provera, which brought my period and I started 100mg clomid. I'm taking them on days 2 to 6.

I also reset my CBFM for this cycle, as we haven't used it since our last loss in June. It asked for it's first reading on day 6 and we got a high reading from then till now on day 9! Does that sound right? I guess the clomid increases the hormones the monitor looks for.

To be honest, I think I ovulate quite early. Might that be why the day 21 blood results are so low? I know I ovulate because the monitor told me (it was usually day 10-14) and because we got pregnant twice using it.

The thing is, if I do fall pregnant again, I will need to get the progesterone right to support it. I AM SO CONFUSED. I feel like my consultant sees so many women and just doesn't know me well enough to get me sorted.

I have nagged on at you for too long now.

I've read that this could be a sign ur preggars but am a bit reluctant to test a) because I don't want it to be negative and b) because if it's positive I don't want it to end like last time .

Hi Bablett, I've found the Clomid makes me ovulate earlier so maybe ur right about your 21 day bloods?! This month it was day 11 and I suspect last month it was day 9. I too take it days 2-6.

I had my day 13 scan on weds and was gutted as they didn't find any follies about to pop, there was one but it wasn't big enough (I THINK/hope she said 9mm but it might have been 5mm). Do you think I'm out this month or still hope? I have to go back on day 18 for another scan. Can the follie still grow and release late do you think?

Hi Alexandra6, I think so...day 21 bloods pre-clomid was 32ish and I did get positive opks but been trying for 14 months now with no luck, well sticky luck! My cycles were about 33 days pre-clomid and last month was round 1. I ov'd cd9 as opposed to usual cd16 and got a bfp on cd29....however it proved not to be sticky and we mc at 6 weeks. So I don't know how long a normal cycle is for me on clomid (I'm hoping I don't find out and I get a sticky bfp!). I have hospital app on Tues so will test before then, maybe Sat morning on cd29 again. It's so bloody complicated!

I've not been monitored so dont know about follies and sizes etc but I will cross my fingers for u x

Has anyone put weight on whilst on clomid? I've put half a stone on and my tummy actually looks pregnant I'm that bloated! And only done 2 cycles!! Saw myself in the mirror whilst bd'ing (not a normal situation but having new bedroom so mirror is not in its usual place ha ha!) the other day and was mortified....I couldn't focus on the task in hand!

Can I ask if you all have your follicle scans via the NHS? Our consultant hasn't offered us them, only the day 21 bloods.

Alexandra6, I think the step up in dosage depends on how much the lower dose affects your levels. I understand that it can be dectremental to have too high a level, as well as too low a level. Hope that makes sense.

My first clomid cycle resulted in a BFP in December, but sadly I had a mmc at 10 weeks. I have just started again (with first af since mc)...cd8 now. I had scans during first round and ovulated on CD16 (my periods had gone haywire since coming off mini pill so cycles ranged anything from 28 to 46 days). This time however the clinic have said they wont monitor atall. Does anybody know if I am likely to ovulate at a similar time?? Dp is in the army so only gets home some weekends...however we are going away for a week next week and I am hoping to catch it then.

Hi calibee and so sorry, that's heartbreaking. I would try and push for monitoring definitely. I've just finished my first cycle and been monitored regularly, I get the feeling they're going to try and leave me to it for the next two cycles but I'm going to call reception and book in for scans!

I'm on day 18 and they saw a follicle - 18mm! That's good, right? Does anyone know what my chances are of ovulating a healthy egg with that at this stage in my cycle?

Thankyou alexandra ..it seems policy in my area to leave any monitoring once a good dose has been established. I started at 100mg on days 2-6, in November, and on day 12 I had an 18mm and a 23mm follicle....I went on to ovulate 4 days later. So I guess thats a good response...especially as I got my BFP that time.I am seeing my GP on Thursday so I may ask her, and maybe see if she will agree to at least do some 7dpo bloods. I think I have just become a bit of a control freak and like to know exactly what is going on.

Yes I have internet cheapy sticks..although the latest batch seem to have a light and fuzzy control line, I hope they are ok. I also have a clearblue smiley face one when the signs get stronger. I did use a cbfm for a while but gave up on that. My temps seem to have been a bit haphazzard this month though...is this because of the clomid or maybe just the pants sleep I have been getting??

Girls please help, I actually got a smiley face on my ovulation stick today, was over the moon!! After my scan yesterday with the 18mm follie, surely that's a good sign I did ovulate? However, no EWCM?!? I know clomid can dry it up a bit, but does the fact I didn't have EWCM mean the stick could be wrong?!

I conceived second month of using clomid. I used an ovulation prediction kit just to be sure I hit gold. It coincided with my 36th birthday. Best birthday sex ever and it coincidentally resulted in my one and only child. I conceived again at 40, but miscarried for a 4th time. Wish I'd taken the clomid earlier in my life as I do feel that the 'baby in a box' tablets, as we called them, did the trick!

Good to know you can still use ovulation kits, i heard so many conficting stories that they dont work on clomid so great to hear they do. Im so nevous with them as when I first came off the pill, when my first priod came back i got a positive avulation smiley face on clear blue on cd8 but when doc to my bloods to check all ok on day 21 he told me i never ovulated and thats when my 'baby ina box' journey started

I dont bother with cm (cervical mucus I think?!) cos its down to interpretation andI like definites (hence digi opk's and hpt's!).

Went to doc yesterday, giving me another 3 months on Clomid but with a small amount of aspirin and some progesterone pessaries to help with early mc. He also sent me for more bloodwork inc rubella and lupus and something else I can't remember! He really hopes not to see me again (as do I) but said nxt step would be to check chromosomes.

Is anyone nearing the end of their tww?

Just on my 3rd month now and they're sticking with 50mg as I ovulate naturally anyway and this is just to give it a boost. Doc was happy with my day 21 results from the 50mg also. I must admit my doc is lovely and I came out feeling much more positive than I had been feeling the few days beforehand.

Last period was 10 days ago but as they are so irregular she checked my overies for folicals ??? anyway apparently she could telll I have no period coming in the next 2 weeks so they have startd me off on clomid today!!! I acnt believe it - finally!!!

Yay littlemiss that's great news, brilliant. I was so anxious I got all faint in mine and had to lie back for a few mins, I honestly thought I was going to be sick! (the specialist looked a bit worried I was going to puke all over his equipment haha!) Anyway your result was better than mine as apparently my uterus is a funny shape and I've got all the ovarian cysts, but I was SO happy about the tubes seeming to be clear.

They made me wait for my period before starting clomid though? Said it had to be from day 2 of a cycle? Oh well, at least you're on it now, are you going to be scanned on it to check the follicles for growth?

I know my perscription is the same, ive got 3 months of 50ml and ive paid private for all this as nhs wanted me to wait another year grrrrrrrrrrrrrrr!

They said because my periods are all over the place the clomid should regulate me to a 28 day cycle and half way through thatyour release a folical to indicate a period is on the way, ive not got this so im still definately 3 weeks min off a period so she said she was happy me taking today fo rnext 5 days, then if no luck this month start next lot of day 2 of my period so im on 50ml on days 2-6? that sound right?

They arent scanning me but I am back on day 21 to have my blood chceked to chcek all working and dosage diesnt need upping.

Perkins thats great news, what cycle of clomid are you on now??? how do yu knw you ovulate early? do you use fertility sticks? x

It was reslly useful for me as they saw a little follie growing apparently and then on day 18 he said it was looking quite big so I could ovulate soon and then I got a positive OPK the next day! One thing though, I did the clear blue sticks which get a smiley face (bought of amazon) and I had a positive at 1pm but it was negative when I tested again in the evening. Now, I'm hoping that's not a bad sign but my point is you might want to do your sticks once at 11am then again in the evening, to make sure you catch the smiley face especially if you're not being scanned. I've also heard of some people being warned of multiple births after over stimulating their ovaries with clomid. Mine didn't have that risk though, just one sizeable follie.

Exciting though isn't it! I am testing on 27th March and feel hopeful for the first time in soooo long!

LittleMiss yes I use opk's....I've been getting smiley faces around cd10/11. This is round 3. Can't believe they charge £50 just for a blood test! I dread to think how much a scan would be!

Hi everyone, I'm new to this forum but have found this thread really helpful. I'm so happy there are some of you with success stories with clomid!

A bit of background - I am 38, my dh 42. I had a mc 6 years ago at 8 wks and stopped trying for about 2 years. Eventually went to the doctors last year. All tests came back normal - unexplained infertility. Had an HSG - tubes are ok. Now as a few of my cycles less than 24 days, doc thinks I may not be ovulating every month and starting clomid on my next cycle.

Question ? - on the first cycle of clomid I am due to have a 10 day scan and a blood test at 21 days. I'm not supposed to get jiggy before the scan though. Why is this?? I don't want to miss a month of trying :-(

Hi, I think it's because you might have lots of follies developing which increases you risk of multiple birth. Saw someone else was told that on hear, although she dtd anyway! I dtd before my scan. However my follie was still growing on day 18 so had to go in for three scans altogether. Sorry about your mc why did you take a break, was it because it was so difficult? Good luck and welcome here! Oh and I got my dates wrong (baby brain already?! Haha) I'm testing for the first time with real hope on 20th march!

We stopped trying after the mc partly because my dh freaked out a little. He was so excited and against my advice had told all his family. It was too much pressure early on when we were just getting used to the idea ourselves and it was really upsetting to let everyone down (well that's how it felt). Partly it was to do with his unsecure contracting job at the time too.

Anyway I hope you managed to send your covert mumsnet message earlier without being found out! My dh is the same. It's hard not to think about it all the time though hey? and it is nice to read about other people in the same boat. We don't feel so alone and it probably helps us de-stress!!

All you lovely ladies that are already on clomid, I am one first round and take my 5th And final pill tomorrow. My periods have been 6-8 weeks apart but doc said clomid will regulate these. While on clomid are you all having 28 day cycle? Xxx

littlemiss someone might be able to give a better answer as I'm only on cycle one but I've heard they can still be long with PCOS (I think I know that from googling!) but they are meant to be shortened/regulated a bit especially if you didn't ov before and then ovulate on it. Let me know if anyone knows for sure!

I'm now on day 25, testing around day 34 (as ov'd late in the cycle) - will let you know how long my first cycle ends up being! Have to go for a progesterone test tomorrow to try and confirm ov. Just had a coffee in a meeting and now feel guilty, I don't even like coffee that much! Am sure it can't affect things but I'm trying to give myself as good a chance as I can!

Hi! Thought I join this forum. I am currently taking my first round of 50mg clomid (cd3-7). I will be done with clomid on 3/13. I was diagnosed with pcos last month. I am not insulin resistant and have normal labs. I just have the cysts in ovaries and high bmi and annovulatory cycles. My cycles ranges from 28-48 days. This cycle, RE wants trigger shot, progesterone supps, and iui. I'm extremely nervous that my eggs won't grow. Will have u/s this coming Monday. Hoping for the best. Baby dust to all!

I finhsed my first clomid round on monday so am now on day 9, im going to try ovulation tests but as my periods are so all over the place im notsure when to start testing - everything is so confusing. Its only my first month but id love good news

Clomid definately effected me, i was so moody at the weekend whoch is really unlike me and im so touchy and teary at the moment - sure its just a side effect of clomid ( x

They did littlemiss! It's difficult to get blood test results as they don't post them out, so I had to phone and they wouldn't tell me! So I begged and she said she can't tell me the amount but she said it has to be over 30 and it was. Have asked my GP to request a fax with the results. Anyway woop I think it all looks quite positive with the ovulation stick and blood results, so hopefully ovulation did happen!

If I were you, I would do clear blue digital ovulation tests every day from day 10 if I were you, twice a day if you can afford to (cheaper to buy off amazon) and aim to dtd every couple of days.

Sorry it made you moody have to say, I didn't notice a difference maybe I'm a moody cow anyway haha! I was really emotional but I usually am, especially since ttc. I hope I get a BFP and you're soon behind me! Let me know what your cm is like as you go along (is that a weird question haha!) oh and eat really well, with Brazil nuts for your womb lining

Right i am going out tonight to buy clear blue and will start tomorrow (day 10), i actually went to asda last night but all they had was 'sure sign'? anyway I bought it regardless but its not very clear, it says.......
1) you get a line on the right hand side to show its works - got that!

2) then the line on the left, well, if you dont get a line on the left it is negative, sounds simple?
3) however if you do get a line on the left providing it is as dark as the one one on the right you are ovulating yey!!! but if its the line is there but is lighter than the line showing it worked its a negative. Grrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrr

Well i did it, got 2 lines so started to get excited but the one of the left was slightly fainter so im guessing it was a negative - boo!

Ill defo go out and get cleare blue, smiley face is so much easier to read ha ha x

Oh yeah I got cheapie sticks like that from amazon, no clear blue is better, you get a smiley face or no smiley face - simple!

I think the ovulation sticks are even more important for you as you're not being scanned, and then if you get your smiley face, try and get day 21 blood tests done 7 days later. Your GP can maybe help if you don't want to pay the private hospital for that. I got my smiley face at midday so I will test next cycle at 11/12pm (midday) and each evening. Only last a few hours apparently.

I honestly am so excited about clomid! If I get preggers on it, it will be so ironic, as I never take medication, I won't touch paracetomol, have always banged on about how we rely on western drugs too much etc. If this works for me, I will seriously eat my words haha!

Women on clomid should be monitored; it is poor practice not to be monitored at all and its quite powerful stuff. No monitoring means that you also have no idea of whether its doing what it is supposed to be doing (clomid's main job is to make the ovaries work harder).If you are not being monitored then ask why.

Please do not waste your money on using OPKs whilst using clomid!. Clomid can increase the production of LH; the kit could likely just end up reading that increased level so misleading you further.

I agree attila though I think littlemiss is private and the scans are very expensive, that's right isn't it littlemiss? Don't suppose you can get the scans on NHS and the rest on private??

I have to say, I found both helpful, the scan to see the follie growing and the OPK which I THINK was accurate for me, the only smiley face I got was that one morning. Really tricky to detect ovulation otherwise, EWCM dries up on clomid - I did get cramps on one side which is another indication to look out for.

I guess a way to "prove" the OPK worked is the day 21 test 7 days later?

Internal ultrasound scans can and should also be used to check if an egg is actually leaving the ovary.

IIRC max dosage re clomid is 250mg and it is usually taken for a maximum of six months.

If it ultimately did not work Alexandra, its not the end of the line. Not by a long chalk so please try not to feel totally disheartened if that were the case.
I was not suitable to take clomid at all for my ovulation problems and I am a parent now.

Also my hospital watched the follie grow to 18mm and then stopped when it was mature - how would they have checked if it was actually leaving the ovary beyond that?

Also attila you sound knowledgeable, do you have any idea what brown spotting at 6/7 dpo could be after ovulating on clomid with PCOS?

I had a long and almost constant round of blood tests and ultrasound scans and only had one week off visiting the NHS hospital every month. There were also tests done on DH in tandem with my own tests and a HSG (tubal xray).

Clomid was not deemed suitable so injectible drugs were suggested. As the funding for that at that time was not readily available, the consultant suggested ovarian diathermy surgery. After picking myself off the floor in shock I agreed to this op; if this did not work then it would be the injectibles.

The surgery also revealed extensive endometriosis which also got lasered off along with the cystic follicles on the ovaries. I became pg as a direct result of that procedure and we now have a teenager. Although this surgery worked for myself I know of other cases where it has and has not been successful in equal measure. Also no one therapy or treatment will completely eradicate the cystic follicles associated with PCOS so it does return eventually (as did my endometriosis).

The above is a potted version of events and does not give any account of how I felt during this time. Felt very up and down throughout the whole year of doing this; anyone who has subfertility issues has my complete empathy. I found also that knowledge was power and became also unafraid to ask them questions.

Brown spotting is old blood. I would ask your gynae cons or medical person about this particularly if it keeps happening as you are on clomid.

Yes re the monitoring, I have gone private for my tests as my gp said I had to wait a year until they would even entertain me and we already knew from my 21 day bloods I wasn't ovulating. After my scans and hycos scan all my tubes and 'bits' seem fine with no psco etc and my partners sperm has come back fine so at the moment they just think its an ovulation issue as a result if long time on the pill - I am not producing progesterone. now that i have got the all clear in the other bits (sperm and tubes etc ok) I have been given 50ml of clomid which I have just started.

They haven't mentioned any scans of even offered me them at this stage, the inky monitoring I'm getting is my 21 day blood test? What date are you having the scans to check foilcals?

Hmmmm interesting re ovulation kits. As I am only getting 21 day bloods and have aug irregular periods I really have no idea when I am ovulating so really hoped these night help. If I use daily and are negative (which today's was - although it's wasn't clear blue) surely if and when I get a positive it should be quite accurate do you think?

Sorry for all my questions I'm so new to all this and still getting my head round it. Can't actually believe how the clomid has made me feel, this past couple of days I am so out of character - moody/sleepy etc

littlemiss were your cycles 28 days long exactly? Day 21 has to be done 7 days after ovulation not necessarily on day 21, so am just wondering if that's the only reason you thought you weren't ovulating, they could have got that wrong? Just a thought.

Yes I would try the ov kits like I said, twice a day. Yes it might not be 100% accurate but it's all you've got without scans, and look out for ov signs.

Glad you got there the first time attila wow what some of us have to go through to get there, hey. I guess I am responding to clomid if I ovulated? They've given me two more months of 50mg but I'm going to just call and book myself in for scans! I do worry that they'll think the clomid isn't working but in reality I suppose it can take lots of cycles even when you are ovulating!

No my periods are literally all over the place. They came back in November then the break between the next one was 8 weeks then the one after was 6 weeks and now clomid which they have said should regulate?

I'm going to test each day at least that will give me an indication

i am on my second cycle of clomid, and i am trying to stay positive but its getting hard, im not sure how much longer i can keep smiling for! i am just starting the 2ww and its driving me mad already. i will be having blood test on monday to see if i have ovulated so i am hoping the clomid has worked. im just praying for some good news! xx

Hello again ladies. Its been a while since iposted, so heres a quick reminder. I'm 43...i got pregnant on first round of clomid (100mg cd 2-6) in december but mc end of january. I waited for first af then resumed at the same dose...fertility clinic not wanting to monitor this cycle due to success of the first. On thst cycle i ovulated on cd16...i'm now on cd20 and no signs atall []. Fertility clinic dont want to know and just dismissed me due to my age. DP is in the army and is back to barracks tomorrow after a week off so looks like we are out for this month. Has anybody else experienced an anovulatory cycle and gone on to ovulate in later cycles on clomid?

Looking around forums though it doesnt seem that unusual. My dp is in the army though and heading back to barracks after a week off so looks like we may have missed our chance

i dont know if i ovulated last month and they didnt want me to do the blood test last month but im having the 21 day bloods tomorrow and they want me to have more this month to see if ive ovulated late. its very hard to stay positive, part of me knows this will work and the other part of me just thinks it will never happen! but at least if i know the clomid is working that will give me some hope wont it?! x

Wow, it's reassuring reading that I am not the only one... it's difficult talking to friends as they don't truly understand as they all conceived naturally on all occasions )

I am on my first month of Clomid, a week to go to see if it has worked. I def ovulated so fingers crossed.

We have a gorgeous 6 year old boy who was conceived naturally. Fantastic pregnancy but ended in an emergency c section. My husband and I have had tests and all have come back fine, we fall into the 20% unexplained category apparently.

We have been trying for two years with no success. Gynea has given me 3 months worth of Clomid at 50mg and has said IVF immediately (due to my age!) if it doesn't work, but as we already have our son we would not get IVF on the NHS. I am 37 (just) and my husband is 36.

It's frustrating and the feeling when you get one pink line and not two is sole destroying but I am staying hopeful and if Clomid doesn't help this month then we will keep going and then make a decision on IVF.

I am having the emotional side effect and bloating from the Clomid, but other than that I don't seem to have other side effects.

Do you think you ovulate late because your periods are further apart? Mine prior to clomid were 6-8 weeks apart. I'm currently on my first round of clomid and they said it should regulate them? I hope it does but if not haven't got a clue when I will ovulate (if it works and I do). Are you similar? Have they given you any advice?

I've started doing ovulation tests every day (since day 9 and am on day 11 today). I really hope I get a smiley face and ovulate this coming week before my 21 day bloods a week on Thursday but something is telling me it won't happen

Firstly a huge congratulations to Alexandra!! You must be so excited?!

LittleMiss after me banging on about early ovulation/smiley faces I only got my smiley on CD14 (was negative in the morning but positive in the afternoon.....was still positive on the morning of CD15) so don't give up hope and Calibee I've read loads of other threads were women are reporting late ovulation on Clomid so I wouldn't worry too much, if it has worked once it will work again I'm sure.

I'm currently on CD17 so will be starting Cyclogest tomorrow in hopes that if I catch the egg I can make it stick! Though if I managed to catch the egg it will be a miracle as I was poorly at ovulation and just couldn't BD.....even if I wanted to I think my OH would have run a mile as I looked v unattractive ha ha!

im not sure if i ovulate late, i had a little cm on cd 13 and 15 then a slight spotting on day 16 which i never have had before so i am hoping that its all good news. i wasnt really given any advice really, i was just given the clomid and told to go back in 4 months. i have had my day 21 bloods done today so i am hoping it comes back that i have ovulated! at least if i know i have ovulated at least i know i have got a chance eh?! but we shall see xx

today is day 21 for me, i didnt really want to do the ovulation test because i was scared of been disapointed! but i will relax when i know if i have ovulated or not.

i dont really know what im looking for just that your CM is like a egg white kinda texture when you ovulate, so i am just going from that. but i woke up though the night last night been really hot with lower back pain was funny as im never normally hot though the night im always cold usually! and i had what felt like period pain too which is not normal either, i dont really get period pain anyway only ever so often but to get it when im not on my period is strange xx

Eeeeeek im excitied this morning!!

As you know the only probelm they think I have is lack of pregestrone so I dont ovulate (dont know if I even ever have and im 30 this year)well i took Alexandras advice, have been peeing on a stick every day and bingo!!! big clear blue smiley face this morning on day 13 so thinking I will ovulate tomorrow (day 14) and i have my bloods booked for next thurs day 21 which is perfect!!! I cant believe it!!

First months and it looks like its kick started my ovulation! absolute wonder drug!

So pleased!!! anyone know how long ive got to catch that egg??? Wont see partner until tonight x

Yay littlemiss remember you get the smiley face before ov so it should follow soon, anything from 12 to 36 hours after (might be wrong but i think around 24 hours roughly might be a good estimation, think it was that long for me as I got twinges in the office 24 hours later). So seduce your partner tonight the minute he gets in and then again tomorrow night for good measure! And Thursday maybe depending how you're feeling then, I would say tonight and tomorrow are key dtd times! Exciting, make sure you stay lying down after dtd in case that makes any difference at all! Good luck xx

Ok meluv so I was cycle one, had an 18mm follie on day 19, then a smiley face OPK on day 20 so dtd on the 19th and 20th a couple of times around that but that's when I think we got it. I ate really well, loads of fruit, veg, nuts, full fat milk, protein. Kept my tummy warm leading up to ov, did exercise leading up to ov, and also did weekly acupuncture. I have no idea what helped and what didn't but that's everything. Oh and no caffeine at all! And a bit less than usual!

Ohhhhh thanks Alexandra - caffeine is my downfall I think, I have about 4 coffees a day!!!! ill stop that ha!

Grapefruit juice is for cm, you're meant to to drink leading up to Ov. Seems to be working for some people on another thread I'm on. Brazil nuts are meant to be good for uterus lining and implantation etc. Organic full fat milk, a friend recommended for cm, and I kept drinking and eating organic eggs because I thought it might help with implantation too.

Im new to all this and came across it on my lunch. Ive learnt more and got more reassurance from reading the msges than any of my doctors / hospital appmnts!

Ive been on Metformin since Oct and on my third cycle of Clomid, I have PCOS and dont ovulate......clomid at the moment doesnt seem to be working and it also makes me extremely depressed and unhappy all the time, often crying for no reason and always bloated. Im tempted to stop taking it but it sounds as though others have been the same?

Its reassuring to know there are others out there in a similar situation.

littlemiss was just logging on to see if you'd completed your dtd mission - am glad I did as NO you haven't missed your slot at all! The OPK detects your LH hormone surge, which you've had today, this is then followed LATER by ovulation, anything from 12-36 hours. My OPK was only positive for a few hours and then negative that evening too, that's normal, the surge can be quite brief. So jump on your DP with renewed optimism!

Right I'll leave to it and go away to panic think about the next 12 weeks and whether all will go well. Am also watching one born every minute. That will help me distract myself hey!

Well I gotta results back from my day 21 blood test yesterday. And I have ovulated! God i was so relieved when the doctor had told me that I had ovulated. It was at 48 I just hope I got the right day time to finally get my bfp!! Xx

I think they like it to be above 30, I'm not totally sure but I guess the higher the number the better? Well they was ready the day after but I had to get the hospital to fax them though to my GP then I had to make an appointment to see her to get them. But every hospital is different as mine wouldn't give me my results over the phone. I was so happy I started crying as soon as she told me bec I was just so relieved!! Good luck with yours xx

MoodyPebble I have PCO too, and had the same provera then clomid protocol. Hang in there. Both my boys were Clomid babies - DS1 conceived on 6th round at 100mg (after 5 previous rounds at 50mg, last try before moving to IVF), DS2 on 2nd round at 50mg.
I got lots of support and advice from the Verity forums, and took guaifesinin (cough mixture) which was said to counteract clomid's side effect of reducing CM. There are aspects of clomid which work against conception (reducing CM, thinner endometrium) so it works best at lowest dose/shortest time.
I found side effects milder if I took it in the evening rather than the morning.

I am in my first round of 50m clomid. I don't have psco but am not ovulating due to lack of progesterone. I've not noticed any dryness yet, does it get worse as the months go on? Maybe round 2 will worsen? X

Just the 2 ;) but thanks LMW, I know how fortunate I am and can really remember being where you guys on this thread are now (was trying for 18 months before DS1).

It's not dryness exactly, but clomid can sometimes make CM thicker and more 'hostile' - see www.fertilityplus.com/faq/cm.html and the guaifenesin - I can't spell it! - counteracts that a bit.
I asked my gynae consultant about taking it and he said that though the clinical data was not overwhelming he didn't see that it would do any harm... Of course I have no way of knowing if it made any difference to me, but it's an inexpensive and low-hassle thing to try...

Hi everyone, I am hoping you can help. I have PCOS and my husband and I have been trying for 1.5years. The doc gave my progestrone to start my period (which i took for 5 days) no period though. I started clomid with metformin on Mar 17 for 5 days 100 mg, 2 days after i stopped progestrone. I have been doing OPK tests since the 24th and they have been negative.

How long did it take to ovulate?

I ovulated on day 20 kw87, it varies though. Good luck.

Day 1 is the first day of your period. You ovulate any time from around day 10. I had to use ov sticks twice a day so I didn't miss it, the one I caught it on was midday. Then you dtd that night and next night. Good luck x

Hi KW and welcome. From my first clomid tablet I got a positive ovulation stick on day 12 so think I actually ovulated on day 13/14. That was last Thursday and I go for my 21 day bloods to confirm the ovulation tomorrow.

I'm on day 20 so at the hospital in the morning for my day 21 bloods. So nervous. I'm just dreading them telling me I didn't ovulate - surely they can't as I got a positive stick?? And it was a clear blue smiley so I've not interpreted it wrong

Phew this waiting is awful, at least another week until I can test but we Defo dtd in the timeframe so fingers crossed a) tomo goes well and they confirm my ovulation b) I've caught the bean!!!!!

Ah Leanne it's amazing isn't it, I've been really anxious but trying not to be. My first pregnancy too. It's real, you can't get a false positive (I must have done about 15-20 preg tests by now though to "check" haha). I'm now really hoping the next 7 weeks go really quickly until my first scan. Hi Ladies, I think I may have got a positive opk test but hte line was light. I have been cramping alot not sure if that means i am ovulating.. did any of you feel that? Im on CD 12 today.

What does 21 blood work look for? I wanted to ask my doc about it and also wanted an internal ultrasound but they take so long to get one here in Canada.

How did you ladies go about booking this so its timed right to see if the folli is there?

Yes I cramped, could literally feel it. I did clear blue digital smiley OPK's as you either get smiley face or not smiley face, easy to understand!

At my hospital, they book you in automatically between day 8-10, on the first day of your cycle. Then they call you back a few days later, and then again a few days later depending on how late you ovulated - so I ovulated on day 20 and ended up having three scans in total.

Day 21 tests measure progesterone which indicates if you ovulated or not. So they should be done 7 days after you ovulated, day 21 is only the right day on a perfect 28 day cycle, it's misleading.

I didn't have any ultra sounds or anything, I was given clomid and that was it, and I had my bloods done this month. I didn't get any follicle tracking or anything. I did ask for it but they don't do it in my hospital :-/.

Hi all i have been ttc for 18months, i have very irregular periods once in 11months,i am now on my second round of chlomid. I was given a dose of 50mg on my first round and i was unsucessfull, i am now on round 2 on a higher dose of 100mg and i have now ovulated, i am soo happy and hope i get the result i need! Hi all, when I had my bloods on Thursday I told them I'd had a positive clear blue ovulation test the week before so I was excited and sure i had ovulated. The nurse (who wasn't particularly cheerful), told me that was a good sign and really positive news but still doesn't 100% prove I've ovulated and these bloods would tell me for sure (I was gutted)

She said the ovulation tests pick up a hormone from the brain telling your overies to release the egg but the overies still need to do their job to make me ovulate. Surely the fact that hormone is there and it's been picked up is positive sign though? Just praying tue/wed when I get my blood results they are positive for ovulation, i will be so upset if not

I am going for a progestrone test today to see what the levels are. I hope it shows that i ovulated. I had sore and very swollen boobs when i was on Clomid and then it got better and now again they are soar and tender to touch but not as swollen.

It will fly by, I found that if I didn't symptom spot that the 2ww went a lot faster, and that's the month I got my BFP. I know it takes alot not to spot and trying to relax is a nightmare. I really didn't think it would happen to me but it did. And now I'm worried it will all go wrong! Xx

Me n hubby made a discussion to have a brake from clomid after having 6 months on 50mg, found out a few days ago I'm 5 weeks and 3 days pregnant so unexpected as we had stopped the clomid for a bit I think it must have kick started my body back into ovulation on its own so fingers crossed all goes well but so happy after 3 years ttc. The dooc had given me progestorne to start a period but i never got one. he had said that i might not get my period and to start the course of clomid 2days later. he didnt say anything about round 2. my husband and i will just try without clomid this month and see what happens. i want the doc to check my tubes too.

BIG congratulations LittleMiss and Leanne!!! Not so much for me, I'm starting round 4 but you are my inspiration and renewed hope! I've decided I'm going to ditch the OPK's this month and just try and DTD every other/every 2 days.....I've found that if I've got a negative OPK that I figure we can leave DTD for another night and perhaps we're just not doing it enough on that basis.....fingers crossed!

SarahJ23 congratulations to you too! There's proof in the pudding that when you semi give up/relax about the whole thing that it can happen - if only it were that easy though. I think you have to reach a certain point before you can allow yourself to do that and it must be tough to take that decision to have a break when you want something so much, so glad it paid off!

So sorry to hear that SarahJ23 This happened to me on my first Clomid cycle but I continued as normal onto cycle 2. My consultant has advised 1 x 75mg aspirin daily to help make my nxt pregnancy stick, might be worth a shot? It's not a great comfort but at least u know it can happen xx

Oh just realised uv already done 6 rounds is that right? I don't they recommend more than that for Clomid as from what I've read it can make the lining of ur womb thinner....I'd see what ur doc says, he/she'll know best x

Sarah i am so sorry but i agree since u have tried 6 rounds already you should try naturally. you got preg without clomid and you may have jumpstarted your system.

The hospital had already given me another 6 months worth if 50mg clomid I just chose to not take them for a wile and that's when I fell, I know it can thin the lining of your womb but it can also increase egg viability so I have read. Thanks you all for the comments and support I'm just going to carry on as I was I think just cant help thinking that if I took the clomid that I might still be pregnant. I'm waiting on a new appointment as I told them I had not taken the tablets and fell naturally so I guess I will have to wait for my cycle to start again anyways, does anyone know how long that could take? xxx

Oh no Sarah I'm so sorry!! :-(. I hope that you are ok? I can't imagen what your going though! If it was me I would proberly want to start clomid again ASAP but everyone is different. If you feel like you need a break take one you never know you might catch on without it. I don't think anyone can say what to do you just have to do what's right for yourself. Good luck xx

It's coming up to the one year anniversary of my miscarriage at 11 weeks, so I'm feeling a little bit sad about it and the fact that I'm still not pregnant after nearly 2.5 years of trying! But I'm starting my first round of clomid tomorrow, as we have unexplained infertility, so will see how that goes. Has anyone else had unexplained and been successful using clomid?

Yep I had a hysterosalpingogram (dye and X ray) and then a lap & dye (minor keyhole surgery where they have a look around and flush dye through tubes at same time). They found small patches of endometriosis but nothing of any concern and my tubes were both clear.

Hi Ricepud, we're currently in the unexplained category and I conceived on first round of Clomid but unfortunately miscarried. I'm currently on round 4 and on cd17.

Hope everyone is staying positive. I am on cycle 5 day 21. I have not been checked at all but my gp about to check hubby as I have ovulated every month on clomid so should have had something happen. Wont get any tests for me as have one already. Oh well only one week left of this cycle.

I had my tubes checked and they put dye in to check all clear before I started clomid. First round of clomid worked for me - 6 weeks today!! Cant wait for 12 weeks scan and am so worried, cant relax and I keep doing tests to make sure, not sure but think miss carriage rate is higher on clomid? scares me so much!

Beacuse of clomid though they are scanning me a little earlier. I have my first midwife appointment at 9 weeks and then hopfully if they can fit me in, my scan the week after at 10 weeks (11 weeks at latest).

Clomid really was my wonder drug!!

I have had 2 scans over this past week, because bleeding but everything is fine and no more bleeding. It's been a hard week! I just want to get these next 4 weeks over till my scan then I can try and relax a little more.

It must have been horrible to have lost your baby at 11 weeks you would have thought you would have been in the clear?!

I am on cycle 2 of 50mg of clomid. Is your luteal phase on clomid consistent from cycle to cycle? On my first cycle, there were 12 days between ovulation and AF. Am now 13 dpo on second cycle. Am I to consider AF to be late based on last cycle's data? Or not late yet since it hasn't been a full 2 weeks. I would say I have had early pregnancy signs, but I am aware that the clomid and my general PCOS-ness could be creating those too...

Had a BFN with FMU today. DH's birthday is today, and I was so hoping to give him the best present ever.

dprecious- some of the women here ovulatd late. The trick i heard is syop checking if u ovulated and just have sex everyday from the 3pill on wards. i got my period cd17, so everyone is different. you could be pregnant too just wait another1.5weeks and do a preg test.

AF finally arrived, so I have answered my own question: yes, the luteal phase can vary cycle to cycle. I am now on cycle 3 of clomid & timed intercourse which will be my last as my RE wants to move on to something different next, possibly IUI. I am in the States so not sure if the protocol for moving through the infertility treatments is the same as in the UK. (I lived in London for 5 years, haven't just been trawling the web for British mums' sites!). Anyway, my meeting with the RE is tomorrow and I am trying to get my head straight, write down questions so I don't forget, etc.

I just wish it would happen soon. I am lucky enough to have a 2 yr old DS and he has taken to shoving his dolly up my shirt saying "mommy have baby in tummy!" I want to give him a sibling so badly...

Have read literally the whole of this thread and it has been great to get info so thanks all, I'm literally posting now for first time.
I've just been prescribed 50mg of clomid thru the NHS which I'm due to start next week. My partner and I have been trying for one year, no success at all, and I just turned 29. Every test we have has been fine, tubes unblocked, good sperm etc, I have a regular cycle of around 26/27 days. I have a low AMH of 3.09 but that shouldn't majorly be affecting anything and isn't an indicator of egg quality. My 21 day prog results have always been in the 20s so indicating I'm ovulating and I actually had a scan this month on day 12 which showed an 18mm follicle which was basically ready to pop. I haven't come on my period yet but I'm not deluding myself after 12 months of F all. So basically unexplained infertility...
I just wanted to hear from anyone in a similar position of unexplained fertility who has been prescribed Clomid as it is supposed to be an ovulation inductor so scientifically shouldn't make any difference to me as i seemingly ovulate already but success stories with others who were ovulating seem to prove otherwise. My only worry is if I'm not getting pregnant because of low progesterone, the only thing my results show to be on the low side, never over 30 for example, then I worry I might get preggers on Clomid but miscarry anyway... I know this is thinking ahead but I can't bear the thought of that and almost feel like taking prog supplements of any type just in case - or is that mental.
Any info/advice from others in similar boat or who know of people in similar boat much appreciated...

hi all got my period yesterday buts its good since it is the first time i have had a normal 28 day cycle. starting clomid on the 5th and keep fingers crossed. my last month blood test showes 12.4 as progestrone level and its the highest its ever been and i wasnt on clomid.

i have pcod and thats why doc is trying clomid to get me to ovulate.

Am not exactly in ur situation but i no people who were ov but not of gud quality or has low progesterone but clomid increased their progestron level and improv d quality of their egg they had BFP and hav Dc. So lets all stay positive as this helps to deal wit ttc. KW87, wow! Is realy a gud thin clomid has corected ur cycle. At least is a way ahead the good things to come. Keeping my fingers cross for us all.

Hey ladies I'm ok not had any bleeding for almost 2 weeks now. Just can't wait for my scan on the 20th may, so won't be to much longer to wait?! It's also my birthday on the 14th may so I will be having some much needed time off work and pampering etc. I will be 10 weeks on Tuesday it's going kinda fast but also very slow. Sorry just catching up.....

Precious I was put on clomid as after coming of the pill my periods didnt return, when they eventually did they check my hormone levels and my progesterone was so low they told me I wasn't ovulating. They wouldn't help and told me to go away and come back in a year so we went private, had all tubes and sperm etx checked then tegu prescribed me clomid to hopefully stimulate ovulation - bingo!! I was so lucky it worked first month.

I'm just over 2 months now but because did the awful constipation we have our first midwife appointment a week today and are hoping for out scan the week after (if not the week after that at the latest)

Desperate to get the scan out of the way and know its all ok.

Hope you're all ok and keeping positive, honestly it really was my wonder drug!!

Hope you don't mind me joining.
Me and my husband have been ttc 17months.
After 10months of ttc i went to see my gp who did swabs and an internal and external ultrasound.
My swabs were clear, my ultrasound results were that my right ovary was 1cm larger than the other and i had follicles on both ovaries.
My gp referred me to the gynae at hospital. They checked my bloods on cd 2 , 14 and 21 which all came back normal. They sent me for a hysterosalpingram ( dye test) and i had no blockages. They checked my husbands count and it came back at a worrying 3milion. The gynae made us wait 3months and hubby did another one and we got the results wednesday which came back at an amazing 56million. Gynae putting low count down to hubby having norovirus for 2weeks at the time of the first sample.
He has now given me clomid to start on cd2 of next cycle. I have to take 50mg and have bloods done on cd23 to see if i have ovulated. If i have i remain on 50mg if i havent i have to up my dosage to 100mg. Cd 23 i have to have bloods done again and if i havent ovulated then i go up to 150mg before going back in august to see him. He warned me of the risk of multiple births, getting extra cysts and he also said i can only do 6months on clomid otherwise i would be risking ovarian cancer.
I am hoping we get a miracle in the next 6months otherwise its the end of the line for us :-(
Its so frustrating as i got pregnant after only knowing my hubby 6months after
a sicknessbug whilst i was on the pill.

I had a belly anyway littlemissworrier. But I do believe I have put some weight on already! Yeah I am 10 weeks on Tuesday I can't believe that I'm that far already lol but at the same time it's been slow also. I have got my scan on 20th may. I had another scan yesterday due to more bleeding and baby was great saw a very strong heartbeat I could watch it all day! Xx

Yeah I just want to get past 12 weeks now so I can relax a little. So it won't be much longer now. I have a week of too next week as its my birthday so I will be having a much needed break then when I am back at work it's my 12 week scan. It's almost here now thank god.

Can I ask why you've changed the days on which you're taking clomid? I've just started this month and been told to take days 2-6 but I wondered about the difference in timing as my doc told me the old advice used to be days 5-9 so wonder what the difference is...

Shameless, am not 100% sure the difference but from what i heard, day 3-7 is for quantity while 5-9 is for quality. I was not told by a medical practitional just read it some where in the thread. Did your gp tel you why 5-9 is no longer prescribed?

shameless- my doc started me with 2-9 to junp start ovulation and also because i started clomid after taking progestrone. i didnt get a period after progestrone. now because i have had a period he suggested 5-9. i read you get a better quality more mature egg with 5-9. is this ur first round?

I took mine on days 2-6 and caught on, on my second month. I'm not sure what the difference is though xx

Ok, thanks for the replies, its still not v clear, my doctor just said it used to be prescribed 5-9, historically up until a few years back, then evidence pointed that 2-6 was more successful - but didn't really point out what 'successful' meant.... He's not the easiest guy to talk too, it's just so annoying that you can't get straight answers to so much stuff, it's often just pov so you're totally in their hands...

i tested again. Got a negative result. So annoying. The worst is that my period has refused to come so i can start my second clomid. Oh God what have i done? Just hope my period has not been messed up.

Hi all. We've been ttc for about 3 years. My gynae put me on Metformin about 1.5 years ago with the intention of doing a HSG and then starting Clomid. I have PCOS and have been struggling with weight for years. I had the HSG and showed possibly a problem with my right tube but not confirmed. I was just about to start taking Clomid when we decided to move house, jobs etc so put everything on hold but continued to take the metformin as gynae said Clomid has better success if have been taking Metformin for a while.
Anyway took first Clomid in January on days 2-6. I know from temperature charting that I have long cycles when I do actually ovulate - even longer when I don't. When I do ovulate, it normally between days 20-25 and this was the same on the Clomid cycle. I confirmed ovulation on day 25 from temperature charting and then got a + test on day 39 . Couldnt believe it. My gynae told me to arrange an early scan at 6 weeks but miscarried at 5+4 weeks.
Gynae told me to skip next cycle and then start taking Clomid again so waiting patiently for that. On day 39 now but don't think I ovulated so could be anytime. (Took a test today but - just to be sure)

Anyway good luck to everyone trying to get pregnant on Clomid - it does work - its a miracle drug & my fingers crossed it'll work for me again soon! .

welcom pinkrossie, happy it worked for you the first time. Hopefully it will again. This is also my first cycle on clomid but it didn't work as i got af today cd 32. Any way i'm going to try again this cycle . Fingers crossed for every one of us ttc. Hopefully it will work this cycle.

So I'm on my last day of 50mg after m/c 6 weeks ago so fingers crossed, I started ovulating on my own after 6 months of clomid and that's when I fell so I thought if I'm doing it on my own and I take clomid as well it could only help my chances of conniving again, glad to see some good story's up, I haven't been on for a wile after the m/c but I hope everyone is ok x

hi ladies i had a dip in my temp today so i am hoping to ovulate. fingers crossed.

So I had a day 12 scan today, first month on 50mg of clomid, and there was a 20mm follicle there, hopefully about to pop an egg! So we'll see what happens... Annoyingly after being told I'd be having 3 progesterone tests on my first month of clomid the nurse told me today no that won't be necessary as we know you ovulate, so I won't know if the clomid has boosted my hormones and these results. Annoying. Happy weekend ladies xx

Does anyone else have hot flushes when taking clomid? I had a few the first 6 months on them but after my brake from them the hot flushes have got more, luckily they stop a few days after the last tablet x

I've just finished first month on 50mg and didn't have any adverse side effects except for bad spots round my chin and jawline which I never get - but I took it at night before bed as I'd heard that lessens the side effects...so maybe that'll help unless you're doing that already... X

Didnt have anymore ovulation side effects than normal, except I've had achey pain where my right ovary is for the last couple of days which i dont normally get, only weird thing is I'm sure on my scan she said the 20mm follicle was in my left ovary so I'd don't get that really... Now starts the bloody ten day wait for me

I was throwing up and felt so so tried so something urged me to do a test, which was early as period wasn't due for another 5 days and it was my first round of clomid but I got my BFP!!! 5 days early when I got it, couldn't believe it!

Hi everyone, I've been meaning to post here for a while as we've just started Clomid this cycle, so it would be good to chat to others in the same boat.

Wow, Littlemissworrier - that's amazing news, it's making me very hopeful that there seem to be so many BFPs on here after Clomid!

I am on day 11 and had my first round of clomid from days 2-6. No side effects whatsoever so far, although I've had 2 high days already on my Clearblue fertility monitor, which I guess must be good news? I've half a mind to get rid of it though, as I'm not sure it makes a difference.

Is everyone having scans on clomid? I have to have a blood test on day 21, but no-one's mentioned scans...

I only had a 21 day blood test no scans. Think you normally get the blood test results to say if you have ovulated the following day. I had mine the Thursday before Good Friday though so couldn't get them on the Friday as bank holiday, Saturday, Sunday or the Monday as that was Easter Monday - another bank holiday!!! That Monday I got my BFP 5 days before due date though when they called me on the Tuesday with the results that the clomid had worked and I had ovulated I was pleased to tell them I'd got a positive pregnancy test

Ladies stay with it, it really really is a wonder drug!

How long was your cycle roughly? That's mad you found out 5days before your period was due! Cut short the waiting! I tend to start spotting around day 23 and come on a couple of days later maybe day 25 or 26 so I only ever had a max 10 day wait from ovulating around day 14 at the earliest, which I know is better than a lot of women who have a good two week wait. I'm just desperate to know if clomid has worked this time, especially as we had a good 20mm follicle and have definitely bloody covered ovulation bonking wise. I'm stopping myself from syptom spotting and trying not to get my hopes up, especially as I already ovulate so its unsure how clomids supposed to help women like me...
Hi Birdie, it depends on the NHS trust whether you get a scan first cycle of clomid or not, ridiculous I know, really they should scan you, around mid-cycle to see what the clomid is doing to your body, if its producing a follicle, or over-producing and you're at a risk of multiple births...The blood tests measure the your progesterone levels which will tell you whether you've ovulated or to - just not how many eggs you produced if you know what I mean....

My cycles were all over the place. The reason I went on clomid was because after coming off re pill my periods never returned. When they finally did my progesterone was low and I wasn't ovulating. When they came back in October they weren't regular and was having them every 6-10 weeks apart - was a nightmare. However first round of clomid and bingo! It obviously stimulated my ovulation and I caught it. I feel very lucky!!!

I may be wrong but I think clomid works for ladies that already ovulate because it increases progesterone which helps the eggs stick and also because more eggs can be produced hence increasing chances??? May be wrong.

We are very nervous and have been warned twins could play a part for me, especially as I got such an early pregnancy test result proving the pregnancy hormone was hight - another symptom of twins!!!! All will be revealed on Thursday xxx

Yes I've heard about the theory of it boosting progesterone, hopefully true, because I had a shortish luteal phase and never v high prog results, 27 tops from the 2 months I had readings done, maybe clomid will help that. It gave me such bad spots it must have bloody done something to me hormone wise!
Had acupuncture today, have been having it once a month for the last 8 months, not sure if it does anything but its ultra relaxing!
Will just have to wait and see!

Yes it definately increases progesterone, I hardly had any at all that's why I wasn't ovulating and clomid sorted it straight away!

Hopfully lack of progesterone is what's stopping you and this will fix it / fingers crossed Xxx

im really trying not symptom spot but its hard not to. i have not had any blood spotting yet but i ovulated on the 17 or 18th so its only been 6 days.

Scan went great, I'm a tad further than I though. 12 weeks tomo! And only one baby :0) tummy has changed shape but I'm only little so she said I'd notice a bit earlier.

Fab news Little miss, well done! Well unfortunately first round of clomid didn't work for me, and I'm now on day 14 of my second round. Had some spotting a few days ago, not sure what that's all about. I'm also suffering with thrush which I've had each month since Oct, not good! Had lots of treatment and thought I'd finally got rid of it for good but it's come back! Argh! Oh well at least the sun is shining. Best of luck to you KW87. hey everyone anyone here felt horribly bloated either while on clomid or when waiting for BFP? i cant fit into any of my clothes and cant anything tight around my waist. i felt so bad that i had to borrow clothes from my mum who is 2 sizes bigger than me.

hello ladies. I have just finished my first dose of clomid this month and have my internal ultrasound on Friday. My partner and I have been ttc for 2 years now and after recent tests I just found out that I have PCOS. I was gutted when I first found out. My doctor prescribed Metformin initially as a start but unfortunately I had severe side effects and didn't achieve more that one pill. My partner has above average sperm count, which he is very proud about!! HCG showed that my tubes were fine so PCOS is the only known reason infertility. Hopefully scan on Friday will show some signs of improvement. Wish me luck!!

Hi Precious. I was advised by my specialist and nurses that it is best not to use opk's as it will not give true reading due to the effect of clomid on your body. Hope this helps! How long have you been on clomid now? I started last week but waiting for scan on fri. Frustrating that the nurse told us we cant get busy until after the scan, feel like we are wasting time, lol!

dprescious-i got +opks on cd17,18,19 . my husband and i just had sex everyday once clomid course was completed. i am now waiting for my bfp. my temp has been high and my period is due tomorrow. i need to go buy a sensitive test cuz the cheap ones are still saying neg.

Hi everyone. Re the ovulation kits, when I went back to the clinic for my 21 day bloods they told me not to use either, they said, before ovulation the brain releases a hormone telling your body to release the egg, this hormone is what's present and is picked up on the ovulation kit, however she said some women have the hormone telling their body to release the egg but it stops there and their body doesn't actually do it and some just don't have a strong enough reading to show but they still ovulate and release the egg, or others just miss it as sometimes the hormone is only there a few hours (could be when your sleeping)

If you do get a positive opk still an amazing sign but because of the above still keeping going if you don't hope this helps? It's just what the doc/nurse taking my 21 day bloods told me xxx

hi ladies. Finally got a positive opk dis night. Does anyone think day 21blood will be necessary as i learnt is done 7days after ovulation and the surge in the opk happens 24-36hrs befor ovulation. I'm not booked for 21day blood or scan but can get one if want to. But i don't want to waste money if is pointless. KW, did you do day 21blood? Is there anyone who ov on cd19 or 20. Did you do day 21progesterone test.

Conceived ds after first month on clomid and didn't need it to conceive dd three years later (must've kick started something)?!

dprecious i havent fone 21day bloods my doc sent me in for progestrone tests around the time i should ovulate and this on the first month of clomid. i didnt ovulate but the month after with out clomid i had a higher count of progestrone and he told me to do second course of clomid.
i did use opks but we had sex everyday just so we wont miss it.

im still waiting for my period i think it should be 29 or 30. but all preg test so far are negative. not sure if this is my month but atleast i got a positive opk.

Congrats Littlemiss! That's great news, hope the next 6 months sail by!

Dprecious, if you think you've only just ovulated, then there's no point having a prog test now, 5 days later would give you a good idea of your prog levels though, as I've been tested on day 19 before (with the assumption I ovulated day 14). It doesn't always have to be done a full week after ovulation to give you an idea of whether you ovulated. TBH regardless of what the nhs say about opkits, if youre doing a decent one every day around the relevant time then mine have never not worked, and this month on clomid made no difference either, i don't see why clomid would stop them working as youve usually stopped taking clomid by the time youre testing. Yes they dont mean youre def going to ovulate as they just measure the hormone surge that tells your body to release an egg, and your body might still not release an egg, but at least it gives you something to go on. The the prog test after will tell you whether you did or didnt ovulate.

Interestingly, this month, my 1st on clomid, my day 19 prog test was 43! I ovulated day 14 and its never been higher than 27 before around day 19-21 so the clomid must have done something this month. However I've started tiny bit of spotting today, day 24, which means this month didn't work, but normally I would have started spotting day 23 latest with my short cycle co clomid has def lengthened my cycle and boosted my prog so I'm going to stick with it for a bit...

I have acu once a month and try and have it around the time of when implantation should be, around day 21 for me, and the acupuncturist works towards aiding that, have noticed some positive side effects with it, like ovulation spotting, when ive had it around day 14,for the first time, it's v relaxing, and the woman I see is great to talk things through with too, but I don't know any hard evidence obviously, maybe worth a try and see how you find it!? Xx

Just reading the thread and it gives me hope that clomid does work. I'm 27 me and my husband have been trying for two years. Done all the test and everything came back Normal. I'm so frustrated as I don't know why it hasn't happend for me.
Anyway the docs have given me clomid 50g for three months and I am currently on day 4 got a scan next Thursday to see my follicles. I have everything crossed that this works for me. As both me and my partner are slowly loosing hope!

Hi Zee, wishing you lots of luck!! I'm 27 also and have first scan tomorrow after beginning clomid last week, so getting really nervous. I just hope they say something positive. I have PCOS so have a 6 month course or clomid to try and give my ovaries the boost to produce a couple of decent eggs, rather than a whole load of useless ones.
After 2 years of ttc it is really hard, especially when you see others around you falling pregnant so easily. Lets hope clomid works for us, just like lots of other positive comments on here. x

hi dprecious. i have been having cramps and backaches too. not sure why but my temp is still up and im at 12 days past ovulation still no positive test. keeping fingers crossef since my boobs are heavy and i can cry at anything! keeping fingers crossed for u.

hi ladies. i went to the clinic to do preg test there still negative. i'll have to wait anothet week before blood test. i really hope it happens this month. i was so dissapointed because i feel nausea, temp is up, boods are sore and heavy and im one day late now. i guess i have to keep fingers crossed.

Ok..... so less follicles than before, altho still around 14 between the two ovaries. However, there is one good one! Progesterone test next fri and then I can up my dose of clomid from 100mg to 150mg if I want to.

Hi everyone, I have just began my first cycle of Clomid. My husband and I have been actively trying for 3.5 years with no success at all and I have never in fallen pregnant. So far the scan/ovulation tests have been very positive. I am really trying not to get my hopes up but I am showing a lot of the typical pregnancy signs (nausea, dizziness, mood swings etc). I will be doing a test on Wednesday. I was just wondering if anyone had experienced these types of symptoms on Clomid without being pregnant? hi kim, welcome to the board. i have been having similar symptoms too but my tests have been negative and my temp droped to 97.5 today. though i am 2 days i dont think im preg.

I have has those comments from people "if you stop thinking about it it will happen", "it's not the end of the world" and my favourite "come on you've been married for years, you need to pull your finger out and have babies". Each time I hear these I won't to punch them and I'm not a violent person. I understand that it must be hard to know what to say to someone who is going through it but maybe if they just agreed that it was I terrible thing to go through then that will be better.

I will definitely have my fingers crossed for you!! It is the most horrendous feeling, not wanted to get your hopes up but then I also day dreaming about telling my husband, family and friends which makes my upset too. I have been told to do a pregnancy test next Thursday as my cycles are very irregular e.g. Anything from 30-50 days. I did do a test which was negative yesterday (I know very premature!).

I just wish it was easier!! My thoughts and prayers are with you xxx

A brief update: i had a dip in my temp.today is cd 20. Cd 19:36.1, cd 20:36.3. Dtd cd 19. No dtd cd 20 as dh is sick and is placed on antibiotics. Hoping to have implanted(lol) so i'm afraid d drugs will affect it. AIBU. What does everyone think, should i go ahead and dtd tonight (i.e if dh got d strength cos he is really complaining )

Hi kimbob, unfortunately those were my exact symptoms on this, my first month, on clomid and although I ovulated, I didn't get pregnant. Hope it,s better news for you....I so know what you mean about your daydreams running away with you, and that just makes the disappointment all the worse. But it has to happen for some of us and maybe this month it is you!!!!

Hi Ricepudd, it's so annoying having to watch what you drink, then you come on your period anyway and wish you'd just gone for it on the wine and coffee front!! Im now trying to cut down sport, caffeine and booze after ovulation for the 10 days or so until I know whether I'm pregnant or not, but Im really unsure whether it makes a difference, at the end of the day I know so many people who got pregnant and were going along doing everything they we doing before, and I feel if I don't get pregnant or miscarry its most likely because there is something wrong with the embryo, or the meeting of egg and sperm just didnt happen, it's unlikely to be because I had too much bloody wine or coffee 5 days post bloody ovulation for example! Nevertheless you want to be careful- just in case... Grrrrr
Currently on day 3 of round 2 clomid, decided to try 75mg this time as 50mg gave me a nice 20mm follicle on day 12 but to no avail last month, even though I'm pleased clomid boosted my progesterone result massively and also lengthened my cycle to a more healthy 26 days, ovulated day 14.

My periods have been missing in action (bar a few random days here and there) since coming off the Depo Provera injection in October 2011. DP has had the all clear from his 3 SA tests, my ovaries look healthy (no PCOS) and blood tests have all come back satisfactory.

So, the consultant has started me on clomid as the issue seems to lie in my not ovulating. I had a provera-induced period last week and have taken 25mg of clomid days 3-7. This seems like a tiny dose (it's half a pill), has anyone had any success on this dose? The consultant wants to start things gently with me and as I am quite thin thought that 25mg might kick something off.

I have had the most hideous night sweats (urgh!) since taking the clomid (last pill was yesterday), and I'm very much hoping that it works!

I'm new on the thread. I wanted to share a success story My partner and I were TTC for 12 months before going to the doctors and being referred to a specialist then placed on clomid. First round of clomid on 50mg we conceived our beautiful baby girl who is now 2yrs old. We are now TTC baby no#2 and I have been placed on clomid again after constant irregular cycles. We did conceive in March before clomid but sadly ended in a m/c at 5 weeks. Af returned to its irregular patterns so I was prescribed provera and clomid for a kick start. I'm currently CD 17 no positive OPK's but CD 12-14 I had serve cramps like ovulation cramps on both sides and a temp drop CD 13 and temp rise CD 14. Can opk's be wrong? Could I have missed the LH surge? It definitely felt like I was ovulating. Has anyone else on clomid had cramps or swollen ovaries around those days? We are really hoping it works first go again

Firstly congratulations on your healthy baby girl - that's great news!!!

I have a similar success story, my periods were very irregular after coming off the pill and when I finally did have a period and the 21 day bloods were taken to check all ok I was told I was not ovulating. I was so confused as I had received a positive ovulation test on the clear blue pee stick!!! But doctors said I definately hadn't ovulated as my progesterone levels were so low - I was so upset!!

As we had only been trying for 6 months the nhs wouldn't help but said clomid could help bug i would have to go back in 6 months time. Knowing clomid could help and that I wasn't ovulating, I couldn't wait another 6 months so we went private.

I was prescribed 50mg of clomid on 7th march to kick start ovulation and increase my progesterone and bingo conceived first month and got BFP on 1st April (April fools days I know!!!)

I am now 13 and a half weeks pregnant and had my first scan just over a week ago - amazing!! It really is an amazing drug and it does work!!!

Re ovulation tests I hope this helps, it's so confusing I know but im not sure that they are 100% although still a great guide?

No AF this morning and I am usually like clockwork. Has anyone elae with regular cycles found that Clomid has altered them? I had a BFN yesterday and the day before. I don't think I can face another one today...

Welcome newbies! Nice success story nay88, I think opks can definitely miss the surge, either just unlucky timing when you tested and the FSH wasnt strong enough then so you missed your surge, or if your bladder was too full your urine may have been diluted too much for the FSH to show up...
I get cramps before and around day 14, it was heightened on clomid, so I'd say your symptoms def sound like ovulation.
Hey birdie, clomid lengthened my cycle by a couple of days last month, I started thinking I could be pregnant because i came on a little late but nope! I know its hard, but maybe leave the pregnancy tests and just wait a few days...
Otters pocket - 25mg is the smallest dose but if you're getting side effects then its likely to be working. Im taking 75mg at the mo, i take it before bed to lessen side effects but get sweats in the night sometimes. Are you getting a mid cycle scan to see if you're producing an egg, or progesterone tests later in your cycle to check you ovulated? If not you should be, as that's the only way they'll know the dose you're on is working. I was given a day 12 scan which showed 50mg was working, and then I just rung my GP and booked myself in for a day 19 prog test (day 20 and 21 were out as it was a wknd), I told them I'd been told to book one by my consultant, and they never check, they just book you in with a nurse, hehe!

the thing i want to know is whats 62.7 i have looked it up but cant see what it means xx

Well AF arrived this morning, so ut ofr this month. I managed to get my blood test results off the consultant though and the levels have gone up to 29 - I think last time they were 20, so an improvement! I've read on-line that it should be above 30 (does that help you Julieann?). I did have the test 8dop though (according to my monitor). The day 21 test never seems very precise to me as it seems that it could be so easy to get it a day out and have a mis-leading result. Maybe if I had gone in 12 hours earlier or later, it would have been higher!

When I first started clomid I had a lot of pregnancy simptoms but was not pregnant, keep your fingers crossed but try not to get your hopes up. Hope to hear good new from you soon x

I feel like commiting suicide. My dh has been supportive but he sure offer a child as he never fails to mention that in our morning prayer each day. I feel my past coming back to me as i lived a reckless life wit so many d /c now i think God has refused to forgive me my sins. Here's my chart I'm a little worried that my temps are too low, but I've had a few dips. The first one looks like an ovulation dip before it rose @ cd 13.I'm now 8dpo and had another dip and wondering if its an implantation dip. I'm feeling quite light headed and tired. I had a positive HPT with my first bub @ 10dpo so I'm getting excited that its not much longer to wait I'm glad I have the opportunity to use clomid as I know I will ovulate it is definitely a wonder drug that has helped build our family that we mightn't had otherwise Baby dust to you all

nay88 No sorry I dont use temperature charts just the digital ovulation tests. Hope it is implantation bleeding for you!!! I will keep my fingers crossed for you. Keep us posted. I have taken clomid days 2-6 got tested and got a smiley face day 9 so dtd as much as possible and will again tonight.
nay88 is this your first round of clomid ? It is mine. Did you ovulate earlier on clomid. I did. I read that it is quite common and so luckily i listened to what a few ladies said and tested and got the smiley face.Shocked wasnt the word!!! I keep thinking I could have easily missed it... Thanks ladies it just goes to show how our comments and experiences can help others get through it all....

Yes it's fab to have girls in the same position. I have used clomid cd 2-6 for my first pregnancy and it worked first go on 50mg as a result we now have a healthy 2yr old girl. We are trying for no# 2 and after a few months of trying my specialist placed me back on clomid. So it's my first round on 50mg for our second bub. Although I did forgot to take one tablet of clomid cd 5 but my gyno wasn't too worried she said just take it the next morning and I have ovulated early as I did with my first bub. I'm pretty sure I ovulated day 12 my first cycle of clomid this cycle i was a little later as I had forgot a tablet and ovulated cd 13. So with my experience I believe you ovulate earlier using clomid.
Thanks fantastic you had a positive ovulation test it makes you feel like you have a good chance I didn't get a strong ovulation test result cd 12 but did get two lines but I had so many other indicators eg cm, extreme ovulation cramps that it felt like my ovaries were burning and temp dip and rise which are all good indicators. I have my blood tests this week to double check I've ovulated and levels.
Dprecious we all have a 30% chance each cycle so never give up hope.
Only a few more days and I'm going to test I got my BFP with no#1 @ 10dpo oh m00gie implantation is around 5-10 days from ovulation As I chart my temps you have a temp dip that shows implantation I did with my first @ 6 dpo and I had a temp dip this cycle @ 7 dpo so it looks good so far will keep you all posted. Last cycle was 31days, i tested again yesterday cd 29 still negative. Well just waiting for af to show. On cd20 &21 i had a serious cramp and pain that i thought was ovulation pains. I also had a dip in my temp but no ewcm, has anyone got preg without having ewcm? Also i'm thinking of taking a break from clomid this cycle(i mean if af shows ) but not sure if i should or not. My school exam is comin up soon, ttc has taken over my life that i'm loosing focus on my studies. Pls ladies i'll appreciate your opinion on if i should take a break from clomid or continue trying. Hi i was wondering if anyone can help. I got referred to the hospital as me and my partner and been TTC for 8 months and i have PCOS. I went there in April and was told they wouldnt give me clomid because i had a BMI of 32 and i would need to lose a stone 1/2 before i could have it. I have since lost a stone which has brought my BMI down to 28 and i have an appointment to go back to the hospital next Tuesday. Do you think they will prescribe clomid even though i havn't lost all the weight they have said. I have read other peoples comments and some people were given clomid with a BMI of 35 so im a bit confused why i wasn't given it in the first place :/ Thanks Kala

Ok, so I'm CD 23 and have been really suffering with fatigue since Friday (CD 20) so much so that I can hardly move past 5pm and I'm asleep by 8pm. I want to think that perhaps it is a sign of early pregnancy, but??? After just one cycle on clomid so far I'm not holding out too much hope but do you think I could be this lucky?? I had my progesterone test on Friday so I may wait til Wednesday to get the result back and see what they say. x

i have been prescribed with 3 months of 50g clomid today and am a little unsure of something . we have been ttc for 1 yr and 6 months now without suscess.
the doctor has told me to take it on day 2 of my period for 5 days , but when you read up on it , they say day 3 or day 5 , why have i been told day 2?? has anyone else been told this?

Hi fingerscrossed. I think it really varies from person to person. I am taking it day 2-6 on a dose of 100mg for 6 months, so there are all different prescriptions out there. Try not to worry xx

Well I was just told to dtd every other day throughout the month to get the best result but it all depends on you and your partner. Hope that helps x

Despite my symptoms I came on exactly 14 days after my positive ovulation test. I was so gutted and disheartened but looking at this has made me feel so much better.

dprecious Im not sure how many cycles you have done but I have read quite a few stories about women who have taken a break from clomid and then surprisingly conceived. They say that clomid gave ovaries a kick start... (not sure if that helps) if you do decide to take a break just dont give up!!! your miracle is around the corner!!!!!!

Thanks nay88, its all so confusing. As I said I got the smiley face on cd8 3 days after last clomid had cramps etc so I presumed I ovulated. But yesterday and today Im feely very crampy again cd11 and my stomache looks bloated. Ahhh this is doing my head in... I would love to be like you nay88 first time round. What were the earliest symptons that you remember having?.

Yes ladies as if its not hard enough for us they also want to to make it all a little more confusing by giving us clomid to take on different cycle days. Ive just finished clomid days 2-6. We dtd as much as we could the following two days. But that is also a challenge what with life commitiments and all. Hubby said he was exausted... oohhhh Ill give him exausted all right.. Dont they just have it sooooo easy. Nevermind, we will all get there some day and Im wishing you all the very best of luck.
My consultant has given me clomid for three cycles but has also referred us for IUI / IVF. We went to the patient information evening last night. Again, so much to take in. But at least we have it in motion.. our firt appt is June 24 I will keep you posted.

i can't thank you enough m00giebaby for giving me so much hope and a shoulder to lean on. I just tested but got negative,not surprise tho as i'm having tender breast just like usual for when af is due. af is due today cd 31 as last cycle was 31days . I've decided that i'll try clomid again when af show and may be this time with much monitoring both for day 21blood and tracking the follicle on ultrasound though it ll mean extra cost but i just have to do it. my dh is sick. Sending lots of baby dust your way !!!!!!

Don't give up hope! Clomid worked for me on the 6th month. I don't ovulate regularly, but with Clomids help I am now Mum to my gorgeous 4yo twins.
I got a couple of side effects - headaches and hot flushes.

I felt really funny this morning woke up several times feeling hot and cold and I am feeling really crampy down below. I hope this cycle has worked. Friday I will be 7dpo do you think that is too soon to test?

i went to the doc and he said i ovluated on both clomid cycles. im not taking clomid this month but will try again at 100mg 5-9 next month. the sounded promising that i am reacting well to clomid.

it will happen for all of us just keep calm and happy. i know its hard very hard buts its important we stay calm.

Fab news Sarah, really pleased for you. My second round of clomid didn't work but I really enjoyed my holiday, so got to keep thinking of all the good things in life hey! Just had a letter saying my next app at the fertility clinic has been put back from aug to sept, so that's a bit rubbish. I'm not getting any scans while on clomid, do u think I should call and ask for one? Does anyone have any experience of going private for IVF etc? I'm getting tired of all the waiting and have a bit of savings. I'd really appreciate your thoughts x

Sorry I haven't checked in. WOW Congrats Sarah that 's fabulous news Girls I'm 11dpo and did test and it was a BFN this morning. I wanted to test early as my first round on clomid last time I conceived my daughter I got my BFP @ 10dpo. I'm going to wait now till AF is due in 3 days to test. My temps are still high and no af symptoms so definitely a positive thought. I have one more Progesterone test on cd27 to do. I did want to tell you ladies that I didn't have any early pregnancy symptoms at all with my daughter so there is always hope Thanks for all the kind and lovely support. I hope this is the month if not bring on round two

I didn't have any scans the whole time I was taking clomid, they just gave me the tables and said get on with it pretty much, I also was not impressed but was not in a situation where I could go privat. It's hard to sit around doing nothing I understand but I don't know if having scans helps that much it might work that month it might not I think it may just be adding more stress to the situation, haveing more appointments and things to worry about. Sorry I couldn't be much help ricepudd but wishing you the best and hope u work out what is best for you to do, sending lots of baby dust to everyone x

dprecious, my cycle was 31 days with 13-14 days luteal phase. dov said clomid lenghtens the cycle. 13-14 day luteal is needed for the lining to develope.

i am not getting scans but doing progestrone tests. im on 100 mg 5-9 days.

Wow this is great! its so nice to hear some goon news. SarahJ23 I wish you all the best. Your story has inspired many of us. It gives us hope. Take good care of yourself and your little ray of sunshine. I know it will come to us some day.... I too took my clomid days 2-6. smiley opk day 8, now 7dpo having lots of cramping. Im keeping hopeful. Lets us know any symptoms.......

dprecious good to hear you are giving it another shot. keep going,, all will be worth it in the end. I didnt know you could change the days you take clomid. (still new to this, suppose it does make sense).

Ricepudd Ive got my first consultation with IVF on the 24th. Doctor gave me 3 months of clomid to try whilst we wait. I was shocked to get our appointment so soon as Im only on my firsts round of clomid.
So I will let you ladies know how we get on.(that is, if this round of clomid hasnt worked. so ladies keep everything crossed.... except your legs of course lol!!!!!!!!!

Not been on here for a while and reading all success stories give me hope. They have been scanning me all week and finally yesterday on cd 19 they said it was a good size but when I tested to see if I was ovulating I wasn't so they have me an injection! An anyone tell me who have had the injection to ovulate if it has worked for them??

Sarah thanks for the advice. Yeah I think you're right, I have already been to loads of appointments so it probably would add a bit of extra stress! Going to see my parents this weekend, I know my mum is mad to become a grandma just as much as I'm mad to become a mum!

Hope you are all well ladies! Bloods showed I ovulated on my first cycle of clomid so don't need to up my dose from 100mg to 150mg. Lets hope we get lucky with round 2.

Hey, my cycle when on clomid days 2-6 was around 33. I ovulated around day 12 of my cycle and didn't bother using testing kits after the first two months as it was putting to much stress on me and hubby to time everything right so I just could tell when my discharge changed when I was ovulating and didn't tell hubby just got two it try to just take things as they come and not put so much pressure on yourself to get it right all the time. yes, Im fine thanks dprecious. I still haven't tested yet I decided I would leave it for a while. Might do on friday then I will be 14dpo. Ive been quite poorly not feeling myself. I keep thinking its my monthly visitor on her way.. Still lots of cramping had to get a hot water bottle last night and woke at 4am( hence my early post). The funny thing is my boobs are not really sore. Usually they are so sore and sensitive to touch especially right efore AF. Its so exausting! all the waiting and everything we have to go through. But I will not give up.... Bring it on mother nature!!!! im ready for round 2...... we will have our babies.....

Hi Ricepudd our appointment is with Guys and St Thomas- London. They have a wonderful 'assisited conception unit'. We have already attended the paitent information evening. Really informative lots to take in. I was quite surprised to see the amount of people attending. There were so many couples from all walks of life. It actually helped me sounds weird I know. Theyu gave us a booklet to take home, forms to complete and prices. We are sooo lucky as we will be funded by our borough.I will keep you posted..
SarahJ23 how are you feeling? You are right aboutstress levels... Its is sooooo stressful trying to make sure you get the right time.

Anyway... off to work, another day of hoping and fingers crossed for you all....

So I'm feel a bit sick on and off, I'm at the same point I was when I was told last time I misscarryed, fingers are crossed that everything is ok as I have no pains like last time and feel so much different. The GP said that they won't send me for an early scan or anything as there is no reason to thing I will misscarry again, so it's the horrible waiting bit now and I'm trying just to stay calm and just take one day at a time, I just can't wait until I'm 12 weeks and I can breath a bit. I'm sorry that some are having a crap time atm, keep posting xxx

Aw stay with it Sarah. Sickness is awful, I was back in do tots yesterday, I've literally been sick EVERY day since dining out - am coming up to 16 weeks this week and still every day! Not complaining as want this baby more than anything in the world but know how you feel.

Stay positive and that scan will be with you before you know it / all will be fine.
