Amh of 1.7. Is there ANY hope for me?

After quite a lot of hassle I've managed to get the results back for the amh test I had done at Guys Hospital last month. I'd already been told by my consultant that I had low reserve, but the actual figure is 1.7.

I also had FSH and LH redone last week and they were 6 and 2.4 respectively.

Consultant is going to call me regarding treatment I next few days. Is there any hope for me at all? DP also has low motility.

I feel like the hospital aren't giving me any answers at all. I'm so scared 😢

There certainly is hope. I think I had an AMH of 1.1 when I got pregnant with DC2, just taking a 50mg dose of Clomid. I only had 4 antral follicles the month I conceived (and two of those eggs fertilised, but I sadly lost one in the early stages). It really is all about quality rather than quantity. We didn't have any male factors to contend with - I can imagine your consultant will be keen to progress to IVF - but don't get too disheartened at this stage!

Yep definitely hope. My amh was 2.8 3 years ago. I now have two little boys born 17 months apart (youngest is 5 months). One via ivf and one natural conception.

I too thought it was over when I heard the low amh result, but as the previous poster has said, quality is far more important than quantity!

I'm not sure what impact the sperm issue has, but I can definitely say that the amh on its own doesn't mean disaster!

I'm more than happy to progress to ivf. If anything I'm scared I'll be told I'm not a candidate. I have no time to loose at 37!

My FSH and LH have also come down massively since I had them done the first time in August. They were 9.5 and 17 respectively then! I've been taking Ubiquinol ever since. Wondering if that has made a difference?

I don't know, but tbh fsh and Lh can fluctuate from month to month so aren't necessarily that useful. It's just a question of when you happen to have them done. Also just because your fsh has gone down does not mean that your ovarian reserve has increased - that's impossible.

The uniquinol is good for egg quality and no test exists to measure this.

I wonder why consultant was still so insistent on having fsh and LH done then? Even though I'd already had amh done?

I hope I get some answers when she rings me back this week. I've also booked a private consultation for next Friday. Can't really afford it, but I feel the NHS are being really dismissive of me. I just want some answers!

Consultant STILL hasn't called me back; despite me leaving several messages for her.

I can't believe how bad Guys Hospital are. I'm so stressed with it all and still no answers. I hope I get further with the private consultant tomorrow. :(

My AMH was lower, I'm also 37 and DH sperm was pretty bad all round. I'm currently 37 weeks pregnant from my first round of IVF.

I would suggest reading "it starts with the egg" and taking some tips to improve egg quality from there (DH mobility may also be helped with vitamins, helps sometimes not always but worked for us)

DP and I are already following the advice in it starts with the egg. I'm surprised we don't rattle with all the supplements!

I didn't avoid plastic - way too hard! I think the main thing that helped us both was the co-enzyme 10

By the way, I went entirely private as NHS waiting lists were so long in my area. Reprofit in the Czech Republic - they were great

Well apparently I can't even get a kind bedside manner when I pay for it!

Consultant was rushed, hurried and seemed completely disinterested in me (same as my NHS one basically) He said it's probably too early for IVF, but it's highly unlikely to work for me anyway with such low amh.

He said I should start thinking about saving up for egg donation. I feel so upset right now :(

I've heard Reprofit are good. I has thought about using Gennet (I was at London branch today) but after the treatment I've just had I might have to think again!

Jesus your consultant is rude! Absolutely not true that IVF won't work. I only produced 3 eggs. (The NHS hasn't even tester my AMH so Reprofit hasn't adjusted the protocol for it, they say they will next time to hopefully get more eggs if I want to try for another, which I will)

It only takes one egg, if really does. There are others on the pregnancy after infertility boards who will say the same.

Well at first he mentioned IUI, but then I said I'd heard IVF had much better chances. That's when he said IVF was't very likely to work for me either.

He was pretty unenthusiastic in general :( Funnily enough he got quite dismissive after realising I didn't have the money to get scans etc done.

The gist of it was that we'd be better off saving for egg donation than trying for IVF that probably won't work!

He's wrong, he really is. This makes me so mad because without the support of this board you may have just believed him. Nothing wrong with donor egg (which I believe Reprofit specialise in) but God, at least give you chance first.

Agree. I got 2 eggs, 1 embryo after ivf. I bfp and he is now almost 2 years old! Low amh means u might not respond well yes- but that doesn't mean that whatever eggs you do get will be no good! It's all about quality!!!

By the way did you ask him about natural conception? As I might have said previously- I've been pregnant twice naturally despite the low amh (one miscarriage and one live birth). It's not absolutely set in stone that you need ivf is it?

I did ask about natural conception. My cycles are irregular, so he gave me 2 months worth of progesterone tablets to insert into my nether regions! :0

I have a clomid prescription from consultant at Guys, but can't start using it until after I have my HSG next month. He said it could still happen naturally. The only problem is my DP's low motility. I don't know the actual score for it. We tried to call Guy's for it today and they couldn't find him on the system.

I think I'm that emotional about everything right now that no answer is the right answer iyswim? I really need to try and keep a clearer head, and stop mentally beating myself up so much.

I've already started looking abroad. I had been thinking Gennet in Prague, but this was there London branch and the consultant we saw has totally put me off the idea. He even tried telling me it actually doesn't end up costing less to go abroad!

What are Team Miracle like for price? We are not well off at all and I'm already stressing about money.

I would contact Gennet and say that you will not be continuing as a patient with them since your consultant was disinterested and seemed only to be bothered about payments. They ought to know that this is not service people want to pay for! Hope some of the advice on here proves helpful.

I think team miracle is cheaper, however you have the option of adding extras to potentially increase your chances. So I had extras to increase my chances on my third try and got lucky!
Eg, BlastGen and embryoscope
This probably brings it to the same cost as a uk simple cycle.

You can just have a regular cycle.

With regards to the cost of going overseas, the trick is to use cyprus as a holiday and combine IVF.
I felt I had more chance of a positive outcome quicker. And. I now have twins so am happy I went there!

Reprofit was definitely cheaper than the UK. I drew up a price comparison list and like for like saved myself £5000 (including flights and hotel stays, and I stayed in 5 star hotels!)

Gennet are calling me back today as I haven't paid for the consultation yet. I told them on Friday that I didn't feel I had gotten my moneys worth. If they still ask me for full payment then I'm definitely going to tell them what I think of them!

Team Miracle sound really good, but I think I'm still tending towards Czech Republic. It looks like to will cost less and as a really nervous flyer I think the shorter the journey the better.

Do you mind me asking how much it cost altogether for you Blue? £5000 is an impressive saving. Hopefully we could knock even more off by staying in less expensive hotels etc. In reality we are far too poor to even be considering private treatment. It's amazing what desperation can do for you!
