Fertility clinic abroad

Hi all - just wondered if anyone could give me some advice.

I've been told that I have a v low ovarian reserve and that ivf will probably not increase my chances of becoming pregnant as it would be unlikely that I'd generate more than one follicle. This combined with my age (42) makes it incredibly unlikely to happen.

I think I'd like to give it a shot anyway but wondered about reducing costs by going abroad - I've plenty of annual leave to take from work but money is a bit tight.

I'm not sure where to start researching options - can anyone recommend any clinics in Europe?

Sorry to hear about your diagnosis OP. I've just been diagnosed with low ovarian reserve as well, so I know just how agonising it is.

I'm also thinking of possibly going abroad as well. I've heard the Reprofit clinic in Czech Republic is good. Perhaps worth checking them out?

I'm sure some more knowledgeable ladies will be along to advise soon :)

Thanks isthismummy I'll have a look at that one.

Have you had any treatment so far at all? The consultant has given me clomid to try - on the basis that there's nothing to lose by trying it, but she wasn't expecting it to make much difference.

Does anyone else have experience of going abroad for fertility treatment?

I've had no treatment yet Albie6. I have to get more blood tests first before she decides what/if anything they can do. I'm scared I'll get told the same as you and that they won't give me NHS IVF.

Hope the clomid works for you. It's such a horrible, confusing and lonely place to be. I hope we both can find what we are seeking eventually. Best of luck to you.

Hi albie. Are you thinking of natural cycle IVF? It's where they don't stimulate your ovaries they just collect the one egg your body had chosen that month, they tend to be of better quality. I have had a few rounds of natural cycle ivf with serum in Athens, sadly unsuccessful. Reprofit do it too and I think they are a lot cheaper. The fertility friends website has lots of info / chat from people cycling abroad it's worth a look.

Thanks Zippybear - I'm sorry you've had no success so far - that must be really difficult

I don't know anything about natural cycle IVF as just starting my research but will look into that.

What made you choose Serum in Athens?
