EC Fri:
21 eggs
18 mature (ICSI)
14 fertilised

Report today :
2 good quality day 3 embryos frozen BUT then told that the remaining 12 are not looking good. Some slow. Some fragmented. Told not to get hopes up or expect and day5/6 embryos frozen :(

Realistically is there any chance with a day 3 FET ? We so wanted to have some blastocysts (or even just one) for future FET.
It sounded v positive when all 14 had obviously made it to day 3 but actually it sounds like 12 of those 14 are duds?
Any stories of hope out there?

:(

Anyone?

I'm wondering if it's that easy for embryos to be written off so early? Had no update today but expecting one in the morning (day 5) although I was told there would not be any blastocysts so feeling negative

Not exactly the same but I got 3 eggs, 2 fertilised. Both made it to blast and one worked (currently 23 weeks pregnant).
They don't have to be amazing quality and there doesn't have to be loads of them for it to work (I had really hoped for some to freeze too, there was no indication before hand I would get so few eggs)

Good luck

Thankyou that's reassuring, it's just such a unpredictable thing isn't it
I really felt they were perhaps TOO negative on Monday?? How can they tell really what will happen as it is unpredictable

Hoping for good news today

I've been pregnant twice from day 3 FETs, and a lot of clinics still use this as their standard (or charge a big whack to take the embryos to blast)

Keeping everything crossed for good news when they call Flowers

I had a day 5 transfer yesterday and feeling so worried, I had 2 embryos transfered from frozen. They are my last 2. I had treatment 2 years ago as the first attempt and it failed. I'm worried if these don't work as that'll be it for us as none left and to save the money will take ages. I'm nearly 32 now. Our situation was similar as we had 13 eggs, 12 fertilise, then 3 make it to day 5....

Thanks Suzi fingers crossed for you too
It's hard when the numbers look so good to start-then drop so much. I'm still waiting for the phone call and I'm on tenterhooks

Willow21 - do not panic yet! You have exactly the same results as my friend (last year) and she has a beautiful baby boy now. Really hope you've got good news from your call xx

I had 9 eggs collected on Monday - luckily 5 have fertilised. They nearly cancelled my cycle one week ago as I had so few follicles so I feel lucky to still be in the process. My clinic called me on Tuesday to tell me I'd be having a Day 5 transfer (on Saturday). I didn't know they could make that call on Day 1? It sounds negative, but I never thought we'd get to Blasto stage. I thought we'd be lucky to reach Day 3.

This is my first time (I'm doing ICSI) and the clinic said I'd hopefully have 2 Blasto's on Saturday - no idea whether to transfer 1 or 2? I'm 28...the nurses tell me to freeze one if I get the chance, but 2 people I know who've done IVF say to transfer 2 if I have 2.

Anyway, happy to be your friend during the 2ww if I get there :) x

Depends how you feel about twins Mary. I never thought I would transfer two but in the end when I only had two and they couldn't be sure the second one would survive the freeze I had them both put back. I'm glad I did as only one took but I was still a little worried about the possibility of twins before that

I'd be so happy with twins (I used to nanny twin babies) but the NHS has got me all freaked out about 'high risk pregnancies'. I think I'll just decide on the day. I keep worrying that they'll call me on Saturday and tell me none have made it, it seems odd that they wont check them this week? This process is horrible for everyone- every day brings a new worry! x

They should still check them, I remember being that worried, I was defiantly told to try one first, this time it seems right to have done both for us, just really hoping it's alright, I'm happy to have chats during the 2ww seems nice to know I'm not alone! D

Willow, I appreciate it's not the same scenario but I only had 6 eggs collected. 5 made it to day 3 and hospital pushed me for a 5 day transfer. Only 2 made it. 1 transferred and one in the freezer.
Small numbers of eggs still work. Plenty of ladies get pregnant with day 3 blastocysts, and go on to have beautiful babies. I hope everything works out for you Flowers

Hi Suzi - I just called them (because I am becoming a psycho) and they said (again) that they wont be checking them until Saturday... apparently its best to leave them undisturbed and my egg quality is really good so I shouldn't worry. Again, they explained they expect 30-40% to make it. I go from thinking I'll transfer 1 and then 2 about 100 times per hour.

I so hope this works for you!!! How are you feeling? x

Suzi - I breezed through the injections but am HATING this progesterone...I have bloated/my skin is so spotty and I feel so lethargic.
Oh I can only imagine I'll feel the same as you on Saturday! You have a really good chance though with 2, and you're still really young. My clinic is treating me like I'm a teenager - the average age of the women I have met in the waiting room are early 40's and they all keep telling me that age counts for a lot of the success. Keep your spirits up - PMA all the way :) x
