How to find a clinic?

I'm struggling to find a clinic in the UK that has experience in thawing and fertilising frozen eggs.

I had eggs frozen three years ago due to cancer and want to now try to get pregnant using these eggs and my partner's sperm. But the process is still so experimental, it's really difficult to find out where the best place to go for treatment is. I have only a few eggs and don't want to waste them, so I want to know I'm going to the best possible person.

Even the clinic with the best success rates in the UK told me they've never attempted this procedure.

Can anyone help me navigate this very blurry area?

Hi Peg - I'm confused. Freezing eggs with a view to defrosting and fertilising them at a later date can't be uncommon? Plenty of UK clinics offer it purely by way of preserving fertility (illness or age). Or am I missing something?

I understand the best clinic in the UK for this sort of thing to be CRGH, but it's been a while since I checked the latest stats.

Hi Tootsiepops, freezing eggs is indeed common, but not that many people have actually gone on to thaw them out and attempt fertilisation. That part of the process is still experimental in the UK. I will check out CRGH though, thank you!

Hmm I'm sorry I have no experience with this. But have you tried asking the HFEA, they might know of places? Wishing you the very best of luck, it sounds like you have been through a tough time already.

Gosh - I had no idea that was the case, Peg. I thought it was already a well established practice Blush. Lots of luck to you!

Hi PegPeg If you consider a procedure abroad, Invicta (Poland) has got very good reputation. Doctor Lukashuk (speaks English) is a great specialist. A clinic offers eggs freezing, their success rate is high, but unfortunately I do not know their experience in fertilizing frozen eggs. The best way is to write and ask them. Good luck!
