What little [ or big thing ] can I do to help?

My on/off girlfriend [ we are good friends - throughout our trials and tribulations ] is having her eggs frozen, she has to go through the unpleasant process of injecting herself for a few weeks as part of the treatment. I really want to help her even if I can only do so in a small way.

Is there anything I can get her that will help the skin where she's injecting herself? Or is there anywhere anything else I can do to help her, I'm thinking Natural remedies wise.

Lovely of you to help her

Natural remedies, I would recommend acupuncture. Both for the treatment itself (stressful) and for what the body is being put through (physical).

Not sure about the skin - it isn't normally that painful after the injections but that was me, others may have different experiences.

Perhaps just being there to listen, offering help around the house or with food shopping is more of a help then 'things' as such.

Thank you for the reply. She is already having acupuncture so sadly beat me to that. I'll definitely be trying to do my best on the support front.

I had eggs frozen and too had to self inject. Helping around the house would be helpful. I was really tired during the process, last thing she will be wanting to do is dishes etc...

Another one here who has been through this. My hormones were all over the place and I appreciated being able to rest a bit more . Also emotional support, she may feel weepy at times. My skin was only sore towards the end when I was running out of injection sites, numbing with ice before the injection sometimes helps

I've just had ivf. The injections are not too bad, but my husband used to bring me posh chocolate as a reward might be why I've put on 7lbs

Can't you just give her a baby?

... that's so old school. Seriously though, hopefully that'll be what happens. She's determined for the time being to play safe and get some eggs in the freezer.

Hi there. Lovely of you to want to help. You don't mention if it's the pain of the injections or some irritation of the skin?

I found ice before and a heat pack after really helped. I also got my DH to rub/pinch my leg to distract me from the discomfort/pain while the liquid was going in (sometimes it stung).

Chocolate after definitely helps, as does the moral support and some big hugs.

What Purdie said. Pregnancy rates from frozen embryos are much higher than from frozen (unfertilised) eggs.

I'd be feeling quite resentful of you on these grounds if I were her.
