Hi, hoping someone can help me with some questions :) I am 35 hubby is 29, we are currently in limbo waiting for an appointment with Neath (wales) hospital, for ivf. I had a letter sent to myself dated 4th march 2015, which was a copy of the letter my gynocologist had sent to neath saying please find a completed referral form regarding the above named patient (aka me) for your consideration. Now it's April 9th 2015 and I spoke to a nice lady on the phone from neath who said they hadn't received the letter yet :/ and to phone back in a week to find out what was happening. I asked her the waiting times, and she said 8 months but now I'm not sure if that is to receive an appointment and then it's more waiting on the ivf list or do you start treatment once you have been seen by the consultant? I'm just having a hard time finding out a few other friends and family members are pregnant again :( I have been told I have PCOS (I have periods, 28-32days) I have not had an ultrasound to find out if I have cysts, is this something I should ask for? I am not on any medication, which makes me feel I have no chance of conceiving without ivf :( Hubby is all clear.

Could you say you will forward a copy of what you recieved.?
With pcos try a low gi diet. And weight loss if you have a highish bmi.
They may put you on metformin.
Im not sure about the wait. Took us about 3m from referral till appt. then another apt etc before treatment.

I'd ring back and do as naty1 suggests. Then I'd ring back for cancellation appointments regularly or ask if they have an online system where you can check. My referral letter got 'lost' - I followed up, sorted it and asked for cancellations - because of that they actually rang and I got seen after a month (the wait wasn't as long as yours anyway though). It's worth a shot. good luck - I know it is so tough - I would advise being as proactive / pushy as you can and once you see a Cons you should be in the system to have a scan etc and the referral for IVF done quickly.

There was a delay for us waiting to sign off final paperwork. They got appts wrong and so delayed further (prob due to cons holidays), so i enquired about seeing him privately, as other site. It cost £180 or so and saved us several months.
