Hi, I'm new to this so sorry if I'm not doing it right.
Me and my partner have been trying for a baby for the last year with no luck, my periods are all over the place, normally one week on and then one week off, iv been to the doctors had blood tests which came back that one of my hormones was high and another was low, they said they would have to refer me to gynaecology, but after a month of waiting ... Nothing. Today I decided to call gynae and find out what's going on to be told they rejected the referral as they don't deal with fertility there! im now not sure what to do next, the doctors think I may have a problem where I don't ovulate at all but I have a daughter who is soon to be 4! I'm at such a loose end I'm only in my twentys never thought it would be this hard!

Hello- your definitely in the right place love! I understand your frustration...After 18m trying to conceive our first baby were just starting fertility investigations.
Our gp has been great though- doing day 21 and day 1 bloods and sperm analysis for the mister...However the wait is frustrating as still not had the results for these tests coming up on 2 week later...

Like you I'm in my 20s- recently turned 25 DH is 30. Never thought this would be an issue but desperate to know what's up...

Go to your gp and explain you need initial fertility investigations to be done there by them and that will direct next steps...

Hope this helps to know your not alone xx

Hi, while you're waiting for doc appointments, you could buy some ovulation predictor tests that will pick up on the hormone rise that happens just before ovulation. It might help you track what's going on. They are a bit pricey on the high street but you can get them much more cheaply on eBay. Or a Clear Blue fertility monitor but they're not cheap.

Nothing wrong with calling to chase up referrals or test results either!

Sounds like you are saying they think you have pcos.
You may then find ovulation predictors dont work.

Thank you for your replies I done the fertility monitor test for two months and it all came back negative ?? I'm going to call the doctors in the morning and see what will happen next. Very frustrating I fell with my first on the pill so finding it hard to get my head around all of this just always assumed it would be so easy!

If you do have PCOS then they can put you on clomid to help you ovulate I think. Also my friend with PCOS had acupuncture which really regulated her periods and helped her ovulate... Xx

Sounds like you need to see a different GP who will take you more seriously and explain what your results mean and refer you to the right people. When I was trying to get help ttc from my GP I read up loads and turned up armed with knowledge! You need to find out about the hormones FSH versus LH. This should be 1:1 ratio and if one is elevated you may have pcos. You should be referred for a scan on your ovaries to confirm this. This for me was done in the radiology dept at the hospital, not gynae. I don't have pcos so I can't help you with the prognosis there. But knowledge is power!

Thanks for the advise think I will have a good read up on it! I phoned the doctors this morning and got no further than the receptionist, apparently my gp is away this week and next and they don't see the need for me to see anyone else so now I have to wait a fortnight to see her! I am honestly starting to think that it's because I'm in my twenties that they seem to just fob me off clearly think this is something that I don't need to be worrying about but they are they ones who have told me that there IS problems! Just about ready to scream!!!
