It's all getting to me

I haven't really been round MN for a few years now, I have a little boy who is 3.8 and wonderful. We have been trying for another baby for 2 years now and it's all getting a bit much for me. I have PCOS which was diagnosed before I had DS, since I had him I've suffered with depression on and off, PND that never really cleared up properly if you know what I mean. It's under control at the moment though and I'm happy with my lot for the most part. One of my depression issues is that I comfort eat and since having DS I've gone up 3 dress sizes (to and 18/20) and I feel awful about myself. I can't face going to the doctors about not getting pregnant because I know they'll just send me away to loose weight. I mean it's not like I haven't been trying to do that, but I just can't. I don't really know where I'm going with this except yet another one of my friends has just announced they are expecting another baby and I feel like it's never going to happen for us. I know this is massively self wallowing, but I can't really talk to anyone about all this.

Unfortunately you do need to get weight under control. I found low gi to help plus eating things like pasta with only a small plate.
You may be able to get a prescription for metformin which could help with the pcos.
Not sure what the weight criteria for clomid would be, but you may be able to get that although you already haveva dc.
You could also get thyroid levels checked as often hypothyroidism can occur with pcos, levels are ideally under 2 for conception (tsh)

Naty is right, definitely go tot your GP and have a chat about ways to help the PCOS and getting bloods done could give you some more info on anything else going on.

I know this might sound patronising tried Slimming World, Weight Watchers or similar. Not only will it help you loose some weight and get some confidence back but these groups are often a great place to meet people. My mum and lots of friends go to these kind of groups and they say it's a great place to chat and let off stream, almost like group therapy! You might also be able to get some financial help from the Dr for that, worth a try.

You sound fed up hun, and believe me I know that feeling. It seems like all my friends and family are starting their families with no problems and Facebook is a bloody nightmare for me but you have a beautiful son so cling to that. xxx

Sorry to focus on your weight again but it is a good idea to get that down as it will affect your eligibility and likelihood of fertility treatments working (if it comes to that). To have ivf at my clinic you must have a BMI of under 30.

Good luck Thanks
