Hello everyone

New to this site been reading a while.

We have been ttc for a year, really concentrating on ovulation timings since Aug/14 and as yet no BFP (but 2 BFN for late Af)

I've just booked an appt with a doctor but don't know if I'm asking for help conceiving or test for fertility etc.

Any one just gone through this or going through this tell me what to expect what to do etc.

Hello nicnak22. I think for an initial appointment they will discuss options with you and you decide how to proceed. Baseline blood tests for you, on day 1-3 of your cycle, day 14 and day 21, this can monitor whether you've ovulated and if your hormone profile is within normal range. Perhaps a sperm analysis for your partner to check if there are any male factor issues.

Once these first tests have been done there could be no obvious answers and they will suggest trying for a little longer. Your age is relevant as fertility in general declines as we get older. If problems are identified then they will discuss your options eg drugs / further tests or IVF.

Wish you luck on your journey.

Hi kellynick, didn't want you to go unanswered. I've had two failed IVF cycles and I know just how devastating it feels. Are you bleeding or spotting? I had a light bleed 5 days after a 5 day transfer and was convinced it was over, but it was my 3rd cycle and was successful.

For now, I would wait and see. Tell your partner if he is lovely he would not want you to be carrying this worry on your own.

If it hasn't worked out the clinic should be happy to provide you with a follow up consult to debrief you and talk through what they think went wrong. It could be you need different protocol, or drug or dosage.

I mean this very kindly so please don't think I'm telling you off but if you start your own thread you may get some more replies too.

Also, Fertility friends is an amazing website and when I was going through IVF I found it very supportive and full of women going through the same stuff as me. Good luck
