Hi all. I am new to this website. I hope some one will be able to help me. I am 32 years old and trying to conceive for 2.5 years now.Ihave amh very high 37.0 but all other blood tests are normal doctor could not see any sign of PCOS in the scan so its a question at the moment. My husband has low sperm count so we have been suggested to go for ivf. Its very scary and upsetting. Please help and guide if i should go for other chinese treatments etc or high amh will be an issu

If you have been ttc for this length of time it is likely that either one or equally both of you are contributing to the subfertility.

What sort of doctor have you seen to date; is it a GP or a gynae specialist?.

What other blood tests were done and on which cycle days were these done as well?.

The cystic follicles associated with PCOS can and do disappear only to be replaced by further cystic follicles. This may be why they were not detected in the scan.

High AMH levels can also be indicative of PCOS being present as is facial hair. However PCOS is a very individualistic beastie and you need a diagnosis first and foremost. Women who have PCOS run a high risk of having their ovaries over stimulated with IVF treatment so you will need to be monitored very carefully.

Avoid all Chinese treatments and such like; it will likely not help you at all and just drain you further of much needed cash.

Thanks AttilaTheMeerkat. We are with a gynae specialist now. They have come to conclusion of IVF. I am really scared just with the thought of it. all other blood test FSH LH TSH were normal [we have gone through pre treatment tests and scans]. My periods have been regular although my cycle varies from 29-35 days. I have noticed even with a minor change in my sugar intake it reflects my cycle and growth of facial hair.

Do you think there is any other way to diagnose and confirm PCOS. Doctor has mentioned there is 10% risk of OHSS during ivf.

Hi there
I've just completed a cycle and had egg collection yesterday.
I have very high AMH also and they had to halve my medication dosage and I had to have daily scans.
Had dozens of follicles, lots of bloating, and then 15 eggs.
As long as you are closely monitored you'll be grand. If you react too much they'll just stop the meds and start again next month (this will still be considered as the same round of ivf if it's nhs funded).

I also have high AMH and facial hair, but have never been diagnosed with PCOS. I did get mild OHSS on the first go, but they changed my drugs for the second and I felt much better that time (and conceived DD).

Glad to hear you conceived :)
Only 1 of my 15 eggs fertilised (big shock) so they popped it back in yesterday, and so the 2 week wait begins. Here's hoping it sticks!

Fingers crossed for you. I only had one egg survive to be put back and she's asleep in her cot right now. It only takes one!

Oh, and she was one out of 20. (Had no eggs fertilise on my first go and that was out of 25.)

I have an amh of 63.5 and am starting ivf in next week or so. My clinic will scan me every other day and adjust meds as needed so if you do have to go for ivf your doctor will be very cautious as they seem to be with all pcos patients.

I have problems with excess hair and spots but not weight gain, I think women are all affected differently by pcos. I know someone with it who was prescribed metformin which had a very positive effect on some of the symptoms

I was on metformin during ivf - brilliant stuff. Lost my sweet tooth & appetite - and 5 lbs. I have since found those 5 lbs ;)

I got a gonal f pen at my last appt from the clinic its enough to last the first four days (I'm on 112.5 iu a day) then day five I will have a scan and buy more then and they will also add a second medication.
I know some people shop around for the best price but there wasn't much difference and it easier for us to just buy what we need as we need it

The gonal f has to be stored in the fridge I think all the medications do. A lot of people get theirs delivered, I assumed we would till the nurse said they sold them there

In-laws are awkward! My father in law stays with us a lot so I know what you mean.
What about getting a mini fridge and keeping it hidden in your bedroom? Or just tell them? (I know it's difficult to tell in-laws stuff like this though...my parents know everything but the in-laws know nothing!) Cx

claremccrory59 I wish I could keep mini fridge but it seems next to impossible, We live in a joint family and my hubby does not want to shout about his problem.I cant take bed rest in my home bcoz i end up doing all house work if am home. Hubby told my MIL that we will be going for a treatment soon but she never bothered to ask me or hubby what sort of treatment it is. Sometimes i feel as they know everything but still dont want to talk about it as they may have to support. God knows honestly this is the most stressful time for me
