Help - Choosing from Donor Eggs Options

Hi ladies, I'm 33 and diagnosed with premature ovarian failure and currently perimenopausal (what a joy ). Our emotional roller-coaster journey has brought us to being on the waiting list for an egg donor and getting close to the top of the queue. I was told today the options we have are frozen eggs 1-3, 4-6 or 7+ from the egg bank or full batch of fresh eggs or fresh shared eggs along with the varying prices ranging from £4600 - £8100. I was wondering if any ladies have experience of making this decision? Did you go for fresh or frozen etc? Any experiences or help would be great thanks. X

I also suffered premature ovarian failure, so needed donor eggs. I wasn't offered frozen eggs, I did egg share where I funded part of my sharers treatment.

I wouldn't recommend taking the frozen eggs, especially a small number of them, as often they don't survive thawing, so you could be paying for nothing.
I went for sharing over a full batch of eggs, as it was benefitting both me and the donor (she received reduced cost treatment due to sharing her eggs). We did 3 cycles and now have gorgeous twins

Well that's what I thought about the thawing process as well. They've not nailed it yet so really to increase chances it would have to one of the fresh eggs option! Congratulations on your twins, you must be over the moon.

Hi there - congratulations on getting to the top of the list and good luck with your DE cycle.
I'm also doing DE IVF - I'm having treatment in the Czech Republic because there was such a long waiting list at my clinic and I'm 42, so didn't want to hang around.
However, before making the decision to go overseas, we talked to our previous clinic about doing DE here with a relative as a donor. She wanted to freeze some eggs to safeguard her fertility and we were going to fund that in return for her donating eggs to us. Our clinic didn't offer egg freezing, because they said that the rate of survival of the freeze/thaw process was too poor. I'd definitely go for fresh eggs, but I think you've made that decision already, haven't you?

Hi, good luck with your ivf! Seen a few threads of women travelling to Czech Republic and how advanced their technology was comparedbto here. I don't know if it's cold feet but I have talked myself out of DE IVF and done a 180 to adopting, this is the route we feel more positive about travelling. Good luck

Congratulations Choco, that's very exciting. I always thought I'd adopt rather than do IVF, but dh was keen to try IVF and now I feel quite invested in it too. Hope it all works out for you and you meet your dc-to -be soon x

Hello I did three rounds of DE ivf - 1st fresh, fell pregnant then mc at 6 weeks. 2nd frozen, bfn. 3rd fresh (new donor) - we now have the most beautiful 18 month dd
