Antibiotics for poor sperm morphology?

We are TTC number 2 and results last week showed really poor sperm results for DH with 0% morphology and reduced count too.

We're waiting for initial fertility appointment with the Lister and have also enquired about urology appointments with Mr Ramsay who seems to be highly recommended. Unfortunately waiting times are 3 weeks and 4 weeks respectively.

I suspect that the cause of DH poor results might be recurrent epididymitis as he has had at least 2 bouts of this in the last year with painful testicles etc. Each time he was prescribed 1-2 weeks of antibiotics.

Today (possibly on his mind more because of the recent results) he mentions that his testicles are slightly uncomfortable again.

I have heard of long courses of antibiotics being prescribed for men with sperm morphology/count problems even in the absence of a proven infection and certainly if an infection is present I think this is probably what DH needs.

Obviously if he's in some pain and there's an active infection present I would like him to get antibiotic treatment as soon as possible - rather than waiting 3-4 weeks - to limit further damage/worsening of sperm quality as well.

But my concern is that the local NHS doctors will just prescribe another short antibiotic course that won't do the job properly.

So maybe it's a bit of a long shot but I was wondering if any of your DHs/DPs have been prescribed a long antibiotic course for sperm issues by a urologist and if so could you let me know which antibiotic and the dose so that we can hopefully get started on some effective treatment without too much delay.

Thanks.
