Hi all

I have never had regular cycles. As a teenager I probably had one to four a year. I then went onto the pill and then the implant. I had the implant removed in Dec 13 and since then I have had 2 cycles. Now I know this is only 8 months and compared to most of you this is nothing but I am a little concerned.

I had a scan in Jan as I was having excruciating pain in abdomen and tops of legs. This revealed enlarged ovaries and lots of follicles but was understandably told this could be as a result of the implant and that I should wait before any further investigations.

I went back to doc recently to explain my concerns and was given a blood test. Everything came back ok but testosterone was towards the higher side of normal but they insisted as it was in normal range nothing further would be done.

I do plan to wait a few more months before seeking further advice but I wondered if anyone had a rough idea how much it might cost to have another scan to check ovaries and a consultation with someone to rule out pcos. Nhs want me to have been trying for 2 years but i am not really able to try as I rarely have periods or ovulate.

I would really appreciate any advice you can give me!

Hi. I was given my official PCOS diagnosis on Tuesday :(
When I was losing all patience waiting for the scans and tests my husband priced up a private ultrasound which were around £150. This is a one-off cost which I thought was worth it but as it happened, they had had a cancelation call on the day I was going to book my private appointment so I didn't need it in the end.
Call the local hospital and ask them about their prices. Good luck - I understand the frustration of feeling something is wrong and getting nowhere with the doctor!!
