Short Cycle - Early Ovulation

lucieloos · 12/07/2014 14:43

Just after some info really as have read varying things. I normally have a fairly short cycle of around 23- 25 days and ovulate about CD10-11. Just wondering if this would be considered too early to ovulate and if the egg would be too immature to be fertilised? We are not having much luck so far but haven't been for any tests yet.

Ovulation can occur earlier, later or not at all in any given cycle. You may well not be ovulating when you think you are; self predicting ovulation dates is nigh on impossible even with regular cycles.

If you have been ttc for nearly a year now I would seek advice from the GP in the first instance with a view to obtaining a referral.

I have short cycles too. They did not affect my fertility; I always got pregnant fairly easily, and always on CD8-10. I did wonder if I'm perimenopausal, but am in denial about that I think. I got pregnant within a few cycles at age 36, 39 & 40 (twice) Unfortunately 2 of these pregnancies ended in MC, but I guess that's an age thing.

Good luck with TTC.

How long have you been TTC?

I'm not an expert in any of this but will tell you my experience as there is hope.

My periods were getting shorter and shorter after DS1. Started at 25 days then shortened by a day a month. I was using OPKs from around CD10 with no signs of OV and we didn't dtd before this. One night (CD7) DH came home from having a few pints and we dtd. I got my bfp on CD21!

So don't give up hope and maybe try at other times but if you have been trying for a while, do go and see your GP

Hi there, thanks for all your replies, I have just turned 35 and have been trying for about 6 months which isn't that long I know but was just a little worried about ovulating early. I use OPKs and also bbt so have a pretty good idea of when ovulation should be occurring. I guess we will just have to wait a bit longer and see!

The last 2 times I was pregnant were Cd 8 conceptions Wink That was on a 23/25 day cycle.

My plan was always to wait for my period to stop then DTD EOD for a week or so. It always worked.

Hi, I have just joined mumsnet and my apologies as I'm not very good with the abbreviations! I have just turned 31 and have been ttc since we got married last June (for about 9 months). I have very regular 29 day cycles. I have been using clear blue ov test since Jan and I get the solid smiley face on day 9 of my cycle. I have just freaked myself out so much with Google which says that early O and therefore a short follicular phase can mean depleting egg reserves or early menopause! I'm so worried I've left it too late to ttc and thought it would be much easier and happen sooner. I am very scared of going to the dr after a very bad experience when I though I was pregnant in Dec last year. Please help! It would be great to hear from other ladies of have similar experiences x

Rhian Google is my own worst enemy at times, I have between 24- 26 day cycle and ovulate round about day 11 to 13 depending on my cycle, I every month spot brown discharge from 7 days before period is due, I have read that 1000mg of vitamin c can help with progesterone and i have been taking this since January and i have noticed last month that i only spotted two days before af was due, so hoping that is is starting to help.
I am under fertility consultant and am now on clomind to try and help me ovulate better, there thinking is that my progesterone is lowering due to weak ovulation , I would go to the doctors once you have been trying for 12 months and you can get the ball rolling, please stop reading into what google is telling you as everyone is different and its not going to help you conceive if you are stressing!!

@Rainy34 thank you so much for taking the time to reply to my post. Have you had any children? What has the doctor said about the chances of conceiving when you ovulate early? Thanks again!

Rhian glad i can reply to you, i do not have any children, they do not see ovulating early is a problem , there thoughts is that the clomid could even out my cycle while on it and hopefully maybe ovulate a little later,
