Moving prior to treatment

After 10 months of investigations we finally found out yesterday that we are ready to start ICSI. There's no time to start with this in our current location (and it's too far to travel) so the doctor indicated that we would need to obtain another referral from our GP in the new location. However, when I spoke to our new local NHS clinic today, they advised that we could be referred directly from the hospital.

We've not had the best experience over the last few weeks with our current hosptial and the accuracy of information or record keeping. I would be really grateful for any experiences that people have had regarding moving house just prior to starting treatment. Has anyone been referred directly between clinics by their consultant?

I can't really offer any advice but am watching with interest as we're in a very similar position. We've also been referred for ICSI but are in the process of moving. The clinic in our new city is happy to accept a referral from our old consultant, but he is doing a sterling job of ignoring my requests for this. Having being TTC for almost 3 years and gone through a terrible time of poor treatment and misdiagnosis I'm loathed to have any more delays. All this said it's a very good job that we are moving as our current area has a 2 year waiting list for IVF. I think if we had to wait that long my ovaries might be at risk of packing up altogether!

LittleTalks thanks for your reply. Sorry you've had a bad experience too and fingers crossed your consultant takes action. It's so frustrating that something once you get to this point something that is so simple seems so complicated.

I've emailed the hospital for the referral but no response has come through yet. If no joy by the end of today I'm going to try the consultant's secretary. Good luck and keep me posted!
