What comes after clomid - questions to ask GP??

Fighting feelings of hopelessness here! I've just finished round 3 of clomid. Ob/gyn consultant told me to go back to GP and ask for more clomid if it doesn't work. I'm 41 this year so going to ask about referral for IUI or IVF. Ttc #1 for 20 months. MMC in November 2012. OH sperm tested ok. Is there anything else I should be asking GP?? I have learned to be MUCH more assertive and fully informed before I go in!!! Would appreciate any advice Smile

I would ask for a referral to another hospital unit as the current one you've been to does not appear to have done much at all and seems to not know what to do next. BTW GPs are not supposed to provide clomid as it is actually quite powerful stuff and you should also be monitored whilst on it. You should certainly not take it without being monitored.

Do you actually have a diagnosis of the underlying problem and do you feel that both of you have been adequately tested to date?. You need a diagnosis first and foremost. I ask this too as one semen analysis is in no way conclusive of there not being any male factor issues.

Thanks Attila, you've confirmed my thoughts that I'm not getting a decent standard of care. I live on a scottish island so no choice of hospital - otherwise if have walked by now. It was the ob/gyn consultant who prescribed clomid and you're right the GP can't prescribe it so they'll probably refer me for another appt at ob/gyn clinic which cold take weeks. I am anxious about not being monitored and just being left to get on with it so I'll ask about how they intend to monitor me. I'll also ask for tests to be done again for me and OH. I think that's all I can do for now. Appreciate your feedback!Smile
