Taken Clomid before - can you advise your estrogen levels please!

I have taken Clomid this cycle, in preparation for starting IVF next cycle. I got a day 19 blood test to ensure I ovulated so I could start IVF meds on day 20. My progesterone was high so I had ovulated, but my estrogen was also way high at 1253pmol/L. I then got another blood test on day 22 and my estrogen had risen to 1498pmol/L. I had a scan that showed two follicles, so I am guessing that one released an egg and hence I have high progesterone, while the other did not rupture and is continuing to produce estrogen. I have had cysts (unruptured follicles) in the past and had high estrogen as a result, so I am worried that I again have a cyst and hence my IVF will need to be cancelled next cycle. Has anyone else had day 21 (or there abouts) estrogen levels checked while on Clomid? What was the result? I would love to be able to compare so I can know if my levels are normal for a Clomid cycle or if I should brace for the fact that I have another cyst and IVF will be delayed... again.

I hope you get some reassurance about the figures soon! When is your next appointment? I wish you all the best.

Thank you for taking the time to reply Fraximus, eve if you haven't taken Clomid and can't give me your day 21 estrogen levels for comparison. I am seeing a doctor in a few hours and she will have the report the specialist wrote after viewing my ultrasound. But I don't even know if the specialist can really tell from the ultrasound if the two black blobs were corpus luteums or cysts. So I am anxiously awaiting my appointment to see what that says.

I know the estrogen surges prior to ovulation, but I didn't realise there was a second estrogen surge in the luteal phase. So now I am hoping like crazy that this is why my estrogen went up from my day 19 blood test to my day 22 blood test.

I got another blood test today (day 25) and will get the results in two days time. My estrogen levels should have definitely dropped by now if I don't have a cyst. So I think I will have to wait two days for this result to get a definite answer.

It's going to be a long two days.

Sorry for all the detail. Need to get it off my chest!

Hi shellster,

Thanks for your supportive post on other thread!

I guess you have seen the report by now... I do hope it looks positive. Do you get the oestrogen results over the phone, or a consultation? I hope you are getting some hand holding, as it is a big deal. Fx for you

I get my result tomorrow morning - 20 hours away. I am going in for a consultation. Trying to prepare my mind for the fact that I do have a cyst and will indeed have to wait another two cycles before I can start IVF so I don't get disappointed when I go in tomorrow.

Hope for the best, prepare for the worst.... I do hope you get good news, and am glad it's not just a figure given out over the phone, so you can have any questions answered.

Fx for you

So very very sweet of you Fraxi to hope I am okay. The last test was inconclusive. It was done on day 25 and my estrogen levels had indeed dropped so that is a good thing but not enough to say conclusively that I don't have a cyst. Today is CD1. So today my levels should definitely be low. I had another blood test thismorning and get the result in 1h 45 mins (and counting!). So I am on edge waiting (and hence typing here to keep my mind sane in the meantime!!)

Oh goodness, it seems each time that the next test will be the conclusive one! A bit like climbing a mountain, really. Hope you got to the top today.
