Off to see the Consultant today after getting positive result for Chlamydia Antibodies, anyone else had this?

After undergoing several blood tests, a smear and some swabs all the results came back fine and clear (hormone levels, OVing every month, smear and swabs clear) and we were referred to the fertility clinic.

DH had a semen sample done aswell and his was perfect (lucky him...). While there the person we saw said that she wanted to do one last test to see if I had EVER had Chlamydia as the swab was clear, she suspected that since I've had DD it was unlikely but wanted to rule it out. Then they would arrange an HSG.

Anyway, I was totally shocked when they called to say that the test for Chlamydia Antibodies had come back positive. They said that it was likely that I'd had it some time ago, pre-DH and obviously pre-DD and that the infection had gone but there may still be some damage. So now I have to have to go and see a Consultant for next steps.

I imagine that they will have to do a Laparoscopy to determine the damage and that they will do it under GA.

Has anyone had one? What was the procedure and after-effects like? I don't want to Google...

I have had 4 laparoscopies... They're pretty straightforward - in and out in a day if it's just exploratory. Not particularly painful afterwards either - just a bit tender and bloated (they put some air into your tummy to help them see things better). You only end up with 2 tiny scars - one in your belly button and one just along your pubic hair-line. Even after four, I can hardly see mine at all!

My laparoscopies diagnosed that my infertility was due to scarring caused by something like Chlamydia (as it was an old infection, the surgeon couldn't tell what). He did a lot of work to remove adhesions and scarring and he unblocked my Fallopian tubes. Two weeks later I conceived DD1!

It's a long story as to why I had four laparoscopies and it's not relevant here as everyone's bodies are different but if you want to ask me anything else, feel free. FX for good results for you.
