Hi ladies,

I have not had a natural period since last August and having been diagnosed with PCOS since my early 20s as I had irregular periods (I am now 34) I have recently been put on Provera and Clomid (50g) to hopefully prompt ovulation.

I am super lucky to have fallen pregnant twice naturally and have two beautiful boys but I have always hoped for a large family and my hubby and I would love to add another bundle of loveliness to our brood. I do feel kinda selfish as I know many women struggle to have one baby, but despite my apparent up and down history of PCOS, the fact I have not ovulated at all over the last 12 months came as a real shock. My PCOS seems to have suddenly got much worse and thus I am now on Clomid.

I was told to take Clomid on days 2-6 of my period (induced by Provera) and am now on day 9 of my cycle. I have been using clear blue ovulation sticks since finishing the tablets as I have no idea when I will ovulate or if I will respond to the tablets at all.

I would be grateful of any advice on when ovulation may be likely and how you guys have found taking Clomid. I have been reading a lot of worrying stories about miscarriage whilst on Clomid too?

Also I have read that a lot of women on Clomid are monitored via blood tests and scans. I have only been offered a blood test after a few months of using the tablets. Is that normal practice for the NHS?

Any of you use Agnus Castus or progesterone cream whilst on Clomid?

I'm really new to this process and any advice or help would be much appreciated. I 'm finding all the jargon and abbreviations a nightmare! Xx

Hello lottystar! I'm also new to this. I've started my first cycle of clomid today, cd 2-6, at 50mg a day. I was told by the dr that the results of opks are not accurate when using fertility treatment. Also, opks, such as clear blue test for LH and not FSH which is needed in addition. I should be going for a blood test on day 21 but I'm on holiday, thought I'd be a little risky and start clomid anyhow. I will go for the test next month. I've also ordered sperm friendly lube to to prvwnr against thick cm.

I'm trying to remember but I know for a fact I had weekly blood tests to catch the peak/ovulation that clomid induced.

Thanks for your messages PK14 and plannedshock. It's good to have others who are going through or have gone through the same experience. I am beginning to wonder why I am getting less support from my fertility nurses as I am only being offered a blood test after a few months on Clomid. I thought the Dual Hormone Clear Blue Tests were the most accurate with Clomid as they still record your "peak fertility" days? May be worth a peep PK14 if you want to try and get an idea on when you're ovulating, although your monthly blood test will help I guess. Good luck for your first round ... Here's hoping for both of us x

Being offered a blood test after a few months doesn't make any sense. How will you know if the dosage that you are taking is correct and stimulating the production of eggs? I would push them and get your blood work done. Apparently you ovulate around 5 to 9 days after taking the last clomid pill. I'm just going to dtd just before and all the way through. Thankfully I'm on holidays at the money which will take the pressure of a little. Good luck and keep on touch x

Hi Lotty, I conceived on clomid this May. It's totally unacceptable that you're not being monitored. Here's what you should have:

Day 12 of your first cycle: a scan to ensure that clomid is producing follicles, but not too many (what if it's produced 4 or 5? You don't want to end up with quads...)

Day 21 of every cycle: a blood test to check progesterone level to ensure you did ovulate.

Do push for this, it's NHS standard. I ended up needing an ovitrelle trigger shot and progesterone supplements in addition to the clomid; I'd never have known that if I hadn't been given such good monitoring. Good luck!

Thanks Marzipanned, I didn't even consider that aspect of it, daftly, that I might release more than one egg. It's been nearly a year since I released even one! Every child is a blessing but quads may be a bit too much Wink I have left a message for the fertility nurses to call me back - they're only contactable two days a week. I really appreciate your advice Smile

Enjoy your hols PK14, being relaxed may just work it's magic for you x

Lofty star, how are things going? I finish my first cycle of clomid tomorrow. Exciting times but really trying not to become obsessed with things (smile)

Hi PK14, it's hard not to get excited eh? I hope it all goes well for you :) I'm getting a bit obsessive with the ovulation kits (clear blue dual hormone super expensive ones!) and knackering out my hubby. I'm on day 13 now of my cycle, Clomid finished last Sat and I've had flashing smiley faces on the ovulation test since Tuesday. The dual kit measures oestrogen and the LH surge. Oestrogen levels rising cause the flashing high fertility smiley and a solid smiley is when you are at peak fertility (ovulation). Well I'm starting to think the Clomid is causing the high fertility reading and not necessarily ovulation given its been 4 days without a LH surge. Slightly confusing and depressing. I spoke to my fertility nurse and she said multiple pregnancies less likely on a 50mg dose of Clomid, thus I'm not being scanned at the mo and I'll have bloods done next month. I have a feeling this will be a long process ... Keep me in the loop of how you're doing, we can be Clomid buddies xx

I will do... I'm not being scanned at all, that wasn't an option given to me. I will be having a blood text next month (cd21) also, which will then be round of clomid. I've been reading about all the success stories, it does seem to be the miracle drug. Best wishes x

First Clomid cycle and Day 12 my gynecologist said I had 2 follicles measuring 12mm each… I had an LH surge at day 25 it’s now day 28 and I’m having another LH surge. Do you think the gynecologist could have mistaken Ny follicles for cysts? He said I’m likely going to ovulate on day 17 but my bbt were still low and no positive OPK until day 25! Please help ☹️

p.s I usually ovulate on my own and cycles are about 33 days… so pretty upset Clomid has delayed my ovulation…
