They should rule out any other issues before diagnosis and offering treatment. Including a semen analysis for partner and may well repeat your tests, possibly on other days to check if you ovulate at a different time. Agree blood tests to check your other issues are stable useful as I had too high a level of another hormone, prolactin, which was causing low chance of fertility.

What you also need to have done in terms of blood tests is a day 2 test to check and compare your LH level against that of your FSH level. These can be out of sync and if that is the case then ovulation can be affected hence the low day 21 result. A condition called polycystic ovaries can affect ovulation as well.

Clomid is not suitable for everyone and if this is given you need to be monitored carefully. It is quite powerful stuff.

You need a proper diagnosis first and foremost. Are you certain the the hypothyroidism problem you have is currently under control?. I ask as that can certainly affect things with regards to ttc.

Hi, I had two day 21 tests a couple of years ago and both of them came back showing that I hadn't ovulated and then day 28 my period arrived as usual. Everything said that I wasn't ovulating but further investigations showed that I wasn't ovulating around the normal day 14 but on day 19 so I should have had my day 21 test on day 26 (I did and it showed ovulation had occurred). My problem was that I had a short luteal phase and my body wasn't giving any baby time to implant.

If you haven't already get some ovulation sticks and find out exactly when/if you ovulate, don't rely completely on the day 21 test.

Good luck its a bloody roller-coaster! x

I meant to say apologies eurozammo - I haven't been on here for a while. Yes, my CD21 was about 7 days before AF arrived. I have had the last CD21 done in the meantime which came back as 2 so our referral gets sorted now. They will send me for an ultrascan as well before we see someone at our local FC so they get the full pack of results and can see what they want to do. Maybe it happens on its own before we get seenwink, fingers crossed!

Was day 21 around 7 days before your period arrived? If so, it was probably well-timed.

Hi all,

I got the results of my second CD21 test back yesterday - my progesterone was only 1 which obviously indicates that I didn't ovulate!!! First one last month was 5 which is obviously too low as well. Once my GP gets back from holiday she is putting my referral pack for the FC together.
Now, what to expect? I assume they will first try and put me on Chlomid.
What do I have to check with them? What will they check on me? Do I have to have a few other tests done before they put me on Chlomid? Do they want to see my DH as well straight away? I have a few other health issues which don't make the whole thing easier (Hypothyroidism, Diabetes Type 1, Pernicious anaemia - but these problems are all well under control for a while now).
I am scared to say the least and concerned that at some point we are running out of time as I am in my mid-30ies already.
Could it be that I am just ovulating late or early so the CD21 didn't actually catch the peak and I should rather have it done on a different day?
Any help much appreciated! x
