Hi all, me & my hubby are a few days into our second round of IUI. Does any one have any tips on improving our chances? One of the nurses mentioned eating Brazil nuts??! I take folic acid and have swapped to decafe coffee.... Is there anything else I can do? Desperate to increase my chances this time.....

Apparently brazil nuts do have somethign in which helps sperm quality- 3 a day is the recommended serving. Personally I think the ones dipped in choc are WAY more effective Wink

Best of luck with the IUI. We had it earlier this year and, although it wasn't the most pleasant experience, was totally worth it.

Hi Artesia, thanks for your comment. My IUI was very painful on first go....def not pleasant. It was hard when it didn't work as I felt like I had all the right signs and symptoms but after 5yrs of trying its all too easy to imagine it I guess!!! Feeling good about this 2nd go.....I love chocolate covered brazil nuts mmmm so might buy them for hubby and help him eat them tee hee!!!

Hi Blindkitty, sounds like you are doing all the right things. I read an interesting article that said in a study of a group of womem having IUI those who laid down for 15mins afterwards had a higher sucess rate.... Had my 2nd IUI today & stayed laying down (though felt a bit daft as was on weird dentist like chair they use legs in sirrups!!). My nurse today also told me laughing is supposed to help as it reliefs tension... Not sure if she was trying to get me to relax though :)

My AF should arrive today when it does I need to take my first clomid tablet and ring up the hospital to book my day 5 scan. This scan will check my womb lining and that my eggs are going on nicely and determine whether I need to give myself the injections (that's basically what it says on the info I have anyway!)

Hello- I had 2 rounds of iui and both worked, sadly first time I had a missed miscarriage but we got our beautiful 4 month old daughter with the second round.
I had fertility acupuncture during the cycle and after the procedure and also used zita west cd with positive thinking and meditation. We also had sex the eve of the procedure and the 2 days after to improve chances.
Good luck! X

I found having a full bladder helped with the catheter part and made it less uncomfortable. heard various things about resting and keeping warm but im not sure whether these had any medical foundation.

fingers crossed - good luck

Fijamezis it very uncomfortable then? I'd be too worried about having a full bladder in case it fell strait out when I had a wee! Did it work for you btw?

jemima thats encouraging to know. I was thinking about the accupuncture actually. Did you go to a proper registered centre or to one of those Chinese herbalist places?

happliy all systems go then! Keep me posted! We can be iui buddies!

Blindkitty depends on your clinic on when you start. My clinic requires your AF to start on a fri, sat or sun. So if it doesn't they will give you notheristerone in order to time your next cycle correctly, that's why I ended up having to wait a couple of months. Let is know his you get on!

Oops! Prescribed me 100mg even though I overstimulated on that dose when I was on clomid earlier in the year - what do you think?

Report
Happilymarried155 · 02/08/2013 21:17

That's similar to us. I had a cd4 scan today, seemed to go ok, I've got 6 follies, three on either side-a couple are small and one of them is 10mm already. I've got to start the menapor injections tommorow. I'm hoping so badly that it works!

How much clomid have you been prescribed?

Just saw your message, I've started on 50mg, did you ask them about it?

Yeh, even the nurse looked sceptical so she went to check with the consultant! It's really bothering me as they'll cancel if I over-stim! Just wondering if she was exaggerating the last time when she said my levels were 'through the roof'

Report
Happilymarried155 · 03/08/2013 07:40

the consultant warned me that it's quite common to over stim on your first attempt because of a mixture of all the drugs together and your body wondering what's going on. I've got my fingers crossed that doesn't happen, I've waited so long to get to this point il be devastated if I can't do the whole cycle!

It's good the nurse was going to talk to the consultant for you though, maybe she will change your dosage after speaking to him? X

Report
BlindKitty · 03/08/2013 18:08

She's already done it! I'm still not convinced though!
